With Menu Snap, you can now search and translate your food menu items easily even if its in a foreign language.
Don't know how to type that foreign text into your phone for a quick Google Search?
Use Menu Snap to snap a photo of your menu and we will process the menu items for you using optical character recognition.
Scanned menus are presented in a user friendly layout for users to click and explore.

Simply Search & Translate the items on your menu to get a good idea of each food item.
Search brings up rich imagery and descriptions to help you better understand what's on your food menu.
Translate localizes the food menu item and description for you so you can understand it in your native language.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Does the app use a lot of data?
A: No it minimizes data usage by compressing the image and preloading only thumbnail images of the food items.
This gives a confirmed data usage of ~200kB for scanning each menu.
In our testing, the average user would only use ~700kB per menu to get all the info he needs at the restaurant.
In other words, its negligible compared to your Facebook or Instagram usage.

Q: What are you guys using for the OCR service?
A: We are using the Microsoft Cognitive Services APIs. More specifically it is the computer vision API powered by Microsoft's machine learning backend.

Q: How does the OCR perform under poor conditions? (blur images, dark lighting)
A: Like any other OCR service, MenuSnap requires a menu image of decent quality to provide a good scan of the menu. The OCR quality gets better with the image quality of the menu photo.

Q: How many languages can the app translate into?
A: We are using Bing Translator API which provides translations into 50+ languages. However some of these languages are not supported by Android so do report back if there are any issues with translations into your language.

Amazing concept, seems to work pretty well for a relatively new app. But the design and UIUX are amazing.

Great on holiday in Italy. Translates more reliably than Google translate as you can edit the input and also searches for images, all within the app! A few crashes here and there but that's to be expected for a small app like this. I also don't think that settings deserve to be in bottom navigation, but that's nothing huge. Every tourist needs this app. Well done! (Heard about it on Android Police)

We all have that drawer for the menus go to hide until they are needed. Now they can be digitize and used on all your devices or shared with the family. Great developer and great app
