Interface is solid, app is not persistent when you lock screen, requiring me to open it to pause/play. Frustrating.

I have never, never tried a podcast app so dysfunctional that it plays and searches when it wants, but most of the time just runs one around in circles trying to figure out why the next cast won't play at all. Uuugh! Got rid of it!!

Largest being no ability to add any podcast form URL, strange limited list?

What more can I say, it just plain works. Hopefully Codepimps will port the back end from Google Reader, which is being shut down in July, to other back ends, such as the Normandy back end that has been announced from Feedly. The other option is to just bring the feed management internal to Listen Up, but that eliminates the great thing about the GR back end, being able to work off the device and in a desktop to manage feeds.

Installed, searched, found, subscribed, refreshed... Oops! Won't refresh! Exited, reopened app, subscription disappeared! Repeat, same result.

There is no way to add any podcasts. The search button is very hard to find. Then no matter what you type in whether it is the feed address or just key words all you get is the circle arrow and then a blank screen. Total waste of time. Don't waste yours. Keep looking for a replacement for Google Listen.

The most recent update has wiped my queue and subscriptions. Some of those casts can't be downloaded now so I've lost them. Looks like I'm going to have to use podcast addict instead.

Hey, I've used your app ever since Listen was discontinued. Now that Reader is going away I see you switched over to gpodder. I'm having trouble adding some feeds. I just get a blank screen when searching for them by name and using the URL directly produces the same blank screen. Going to the gpodder site and using search also doesn't show me any results for some of these feeds I subscribe to. I'm afraid I may have to switch to something else. :( Is there any way you can add support for Google Takeout's subscriptions.xml from our Reader feeds lists so that we could import the feeds directly? I'm not a developer so I'm guessing even something "small" like that would probably require a good amount of work and I've followed the blog and seen that you've already put in tons of work on the project lately. So if this isn't feasible I understand but thanks for an awesome app.

This app is organized really well just like the google one. Its simple without too many bells and whistles and gets the job done. One major shortcoming...The queue can get very long and unmanageable. The google Listen app did a great job of always keeping the queue filled with only the latest podcast from each feed, so if you didn't listen for a few days you wouldn't get a queue with an unwieldy backlog. The google app also had a separate save-for-later queue. Otherwise, this app is fantastic.

Finally, now that reader is going away. So far, this is a perfect replacement. I'm just wondering what will happen to our feeds once reader is gone. Until then, I'm happy.

Works great but first "This American Life" will not download and now "Car Talk" will not download. Which will stop coming next? Please fix

I was very disappointed when I found out Google Listen was being discontinued, as it did everything I wanted. Having tried MANY alternatives since then I was left frustrated by how inadequate they were. This app is brilliant however. Simple and elegant. The only gripe I have is that the widget could look a bit nicer, at the moment it almost looks like a graphical glitch on my screen such is its very basic design. Everyone has suggestions I know but that would be mine. Apart from that great work!

This app was the perfect replacement for Google Listen, and is a good spiritual successor to it. However, after the death of Google Reader it has been much less reliable; gpodder does a poor job synchronizing podcasts and has been generally confusing. Coupled with the unfortunate recent interface changes, I switched to the Podcast Addict app and haven't looked back.

R70%

I'd rather have it download the podcast and let me choose the player... Instead Listen Up would do everything for me -- which is great when I teach relatives to use it, but somewhat irritates me. I'd rather have it download podcast to the Downloads dir, and play podcasts with my favorite music player. Podder app works this way, but I can't make it work with wick 3G connection.

I tried lots of different podcast managers when google reader and listen died. I reckon this is the best of the lot for what i wanted. I had a few problems with my new Nexus 5 (kitkat) and syncing with gpodder but the developer was responsive and its working like a charm now. Thanks codepimps.

I encourage Codepimps to continue developing this. I love it. I do also understand though that it's frustrating for most people to use. My suggestion for what one change would most improve this app: Better search results.

Simplest and best-featured podcast app I've used. I was very disappointed when Google Listen went away, but Listen Up has jumped in to pick up the slack.

I found this when google killed reader, which killed listen. Listen Up was rough at first but gets better with each update. Most of remaining problems seem to be with gpodder, not Listen Up. Still a few kinks but works well enough to make me happy.

I like the program. It isn't perfect but it gets the job done most of the time. The biggest problem for me is that I can't add RSS feeds for podcasts the program can't find via search. I checked the support forum and there was nothing there. Seems like an obvious thing to include! I'm not a programmer so maybe it isn't easy, though.
