FORM is a not for profit cultural organisation that operates at the intersection of artistic excellence and community development. At FORM, we believe that the best, most vibrant places to live are the ones that nurture dynamic creativity, showcase cultural diversity, insist on quality and are shaped with people in mind. FORM sees the transformative power of creativity as having the capacity to generate a richer community and cultural life in Western Australia.
Creative residencies form one part of our programming. PUBLIC is a celebration of art in public places and public life. Commencing in 2014, the multi-year festival draws upon the connectivity and vibrancy of our communities, while showcasing creativity in Western Australia and enhancing Perth’s reputation as a distinctive city of many parts. Each year, FORM invites a number of international, national and local street and urban artists to transform walls, spaces and laneways within the Perth City and regional towns.
The ‘PUBLIC 2014’ and ‘PUBLIC 2015’ mobile tours take you on a journey of our PUBLIC artworks located across the state of Western Australia.
Aboriginal culture and heritage is another focus area of our programming. ‘Marlbatharndu Wanggagu: Once upon a time in the West’ is a mobile exhibition of our most recent Indigenous project. Marlbatharndu Wanggagu explores the history of the Western Australian pastoral industry from an Aboriginal perspective. Oral histories and audio sit alongside photography and paste-ups by Jetsonorama (USA), multimedia installations by Reko Rennie (Melbourne), and photography by Claire Martin (Australia).
