Nasty crashes after the latest update. I have two zim files on SD card but Kiwix can't find any of them. When I tap Get Content, it tries to get online or show "scanning for downloadable content message" but crashes immediately. the update rendered the app useless. Clearing the cache and data didn't change anything. I have to take 5 stars back and give it one because everything was good before the update.

Traveling alot in places without internet, Kiwix is the only app allow me to have whole Wikipedia offline in my tablet and my pc. Tnx the developers!

When my Samsung tablet got updated to Kiwix 2.3 yesterday, Kiwix immediately lost the ability to open the Wikipedia zim file. I tried many things, but the new version just doesn't work properly. Clicking the Get Content button will force close the app. Every time! I gave up and uninstalled the latest version. I then downloaded an old version 1.93 apk file from the web and installed that. Kiwix 1.93 now allows me to read Wikipedia offline again. 5 stars for the old version of Kiwix. 0 stars for the new version.

Its amazing to access the whole wikipedia without any data connection, even in flight mode, free, no bags and without adds. Some are rating this low, not because the app is bad, but they don't know how to use it. I would ask them to read the FAQ, before publishing unfair remarks. Happy to see that our suggestions have been honored and we're enjoying the app 100%. Kiwiks Team, your excellent!

Downloaded the complete Wikipedia ZIM file (wikipedia_en_all_nopic.zim). The search function still needs improvement, thus the 4 stars. For example, a search for the tallest peak in the world will not give you any hits if you search 'mt everest', 'Mt Everest', or 'Mt. Everest'. To get any matching search result for the highest mountain peak, you have to type 'Mount Everest'. It has trouble recognizing abbreviations and other variants. Hope it improves in future updates because it really is a very good app.

The latest build (2.2 build 53) has wonderful improvements. However... PROBLEM: The new version DOES import old bookmarks from previous versions but the bookmarks DON'T open. Sometimes they open but when they do they open the wrong bookmark. This is Kiwix on my Galaxy Note 2 phone, running Android 4.1.2. Please try to fix. This is still my favourite app and highly recommended.

Truly working full offline wiki, limit only by how big the archived zim file you can put in your SDcard. But always crash on Asus transformer TX201, its Asus very poor design fault though. Pls see if can help tweak it as i love kiwix so useful. Thank you.

update 8 Aug 2017: It is not working anymore. crashes at all time. I have sent crash report. When it opens it asks me to rate which I already had but even that does not work. Awful!!! Best useful app I could imagine. As a traveller it is a must to have. THANKS WIKI

I'd like the option to pause downloads when wifi is unavailable.if I wasn't watching the download I might've used 50gigs worth of cellular data! Also, more WikiLeaks dumps would be great. Overall, awesome app, devs!

More info to learn! But my only problem is that i have enough memory to store 18Gb files from this app because i only have a 32Gb memory(not really related to the app itself but to my phone memory) but other than that the app is very useful for learning. Thank you for creating this app! And btw are the creators going to update? Because some of the information i saw was outdated. Please do if you're reading this. Thank you again!

I used this app extensively during my last southern ocean voyage to Antarctica and at Antarctica. I was a king, to the flabbergast of everyone else, I had the whole wiki in my pocket. Used this at Himalayas too. This app is best at remotest locations of our planet with no connectivity. Love it and thanks for the team. Felix

Excellent resource for offline use. When traveling to developing countries, or the boondocks here in the northern Midwest, I sometimes find myself without a network connection. It's reassuring to have access to info when I need it.

Absolutely love this app...As an avid reader, it is great to know I can read wikipedia even when I have used all my data and there is no wi-fi available... Thank you for creating this app to give me something to do when I cannot get online

Had trouble reading tiny text on the phone. There's no font size adjustment, no line wrap. So, one has to zoom in and possibly pan. Then when the next page loads, it's unzoomed. Main text of a smaller, sample text was black on a bright backlit ground, or the inverse (night mode). It needed ~ 7 MB to fetch a list of available files, based on a data-usage app, Glasswire (beta), but this list stops at something like thirty to forty items, yes?

Anytime I have downloaded a Wiki app I have never been disappointed. Though I do not like being asked to rate the app before I use it, Wiki has earned the title automatically. Thank you for creating such a wonderful source of education for the people for free. You guys always do a great job and I can't wait to contribute.

First off, thank you for all you awesome people at Kiwix have done is making the world a better place by not only making but also bringing the future to humanity. Although as a little proposition, it would be even more awesome if there's a color pallette option for the night reader mode to make it even easier on the eyes. All in all, this is one of the best and one of my favourite in every aspect of it. Thank you again for being awesome!

Good app. Please add option to search Internet or show results from Wikipedia online if topic not present in offline wiki. also make it modern like recent Wikipedia app

Great stuff! But id like to see yellow Pages offline. This would allow users to get phonenumbers and addresses of businesses on the go without these overcharged data plans. Your kewix gives acess to offline general knowledge which is fantastic.similarly to general knowledge, businesses don't change frequently, so an offline database is golden. However, I believe offering yellow Pages would greatly compliment this product by offering an offline database of consumer references and opening and closing hours. On the go, this app with a offline GPS would be unbeatable. Thanks.

Very hard to use. Full wikipedia takes up too much space.

Unlike other apps that download large files, this one automatically resumed my paused downloads after I had lost connectivity for a while, over the 3g. Within half hour it consumed my full monthly internet package. Not cool! The default settings should prevent the app from downloading gigabytes of data over the cellular network!

Fails to locate Ext SD on rooted Lollipop Acer tablet with Link2SD. Fine on Jellybean and Marshmallow (not rooted as SD card usually avail to apps.)

I am often in the wilderness, emerging nations, or at sea. The ability to access Wikipedia from the middle of nowhere, on a tiny device, whether to ascertain vital information, enjoy some interesting reading, or to call BS on a friend has astounded and delighted me for years.

A working local reliable, no data version of probably the best resource of knowledge? Yep, even being a few months out of date, that's definitely a five star. Congrats! (Edit: yes, in fact one can search by article text too)

After clicking again Download, because I couldn't find it, the former download was immediately deleted. The screenoverlay notification is not useful. I just had to change app permissions manually..

Really fantastic app, great amount of content, nice and simple interface, quick and easy-to-use, and about 70% accessible to the visually impaired. Features are fairly good, mostly effective and don't clutter the interface. I intend on updating this review as per the next version due April, for I'm hoping for the option to view article in web-browser. But its really really amazing, highly recommended!

Since my previous review was removed, I'll repost it. I don't know why, yet this app continually crashes on me whenever I try to download any of the databases - I have an LG Aristo running Android 7.1 and saving the databases to an external SD card.

I am an avid Wikipedia user, and I highly recommend this app! I love the random article feature, and the ability to open multiple tabs. The full, 60gb, offline version of Wikipedia runs flawlessly on my 256gb sd card! This app is great for those who love to use Wikipedia on the go!
