Anyone tried to get this to work with AWS IOT mqtt broker? I can't get past a 'Connection lost (32109) Java.io.eofexception' error Thanks!

Liked the app. Works as advertised. Support is great and super fast - thanks JP and Alexander. Documentation is good and well maintained. UI could be simplified and made user friendly.

It wont auto update my location. Is there any way to fix this?

High quality app for personal tracking system and home automation. Using it with private MQTT server. Have some issues for background location update. Might ignore settings and skip updates.

I love the idea of finally having an app to track myself without needing Google or other proprietary third parties that resell my personal data, and this works well together with my sandstorm installation. I do have a complaint, which is that the tracking is flaky, often skipping dozens of miles or not tracking me for half a day. When the Internet cuts out it usually doesn't track (although sometimes?..) while I feel that should be possible. Keep up the good work! Would buy a paid version to help out!..

So glad to have a privacy conscious replacement for Google Latitude. Being able to share my location with family has been handy.

I've been using Owntracks for 8ish months and have loved it. Unfortunately this last update seems to have made battery consumption worse. I'm not sure why, or where to investigate, but it's night and day. Old version used around 3% battery, this one uses around 9%.

Great platform. Using with local mqtt broker and home assistant. But has a bug on VF smart platinum where map is not loading and gps detection in regions does not work.

Great APP, simple User Interface. Unfortunately when switching between WiFi and mobile Data the App needs a very log time to reconnect. I'm missing the option to view additional Data (e.g. some JSON Parameters added to the MQTT Message)

Unable to use websockets since last update I understand there's problems and bugs but the option should of remained with a warning, can't use own tracks until this is resolved due to how I reverse proxy.

Q70%
by Q####:

How do I get the beta version, so that I can test out websockets please?

R70%
by R####:

I can't figure out how to get the app to update the location. I travel back and forth to work, and some days it just shows me in a single location the whole day. Somehow it is missing that I am moving around. Not really usable like that, thought the concept is solid and the booklet is great.

Works perfectly with Home Assistant with the latest update. Was a bit hit and miss before.

Why doesn't it connect to a network... Wanted to use this so desperately for project work.. it never shows connected only shows error and on some lucky moments connecting... Please reply why does thos happen? It doesn't work in India?

Worked well on my aged HTC One M7, but crashing after broker has been setup on Xiaomi Redmi 4X with MIUI 8.1. Given it all required permissions , but can't even get in now. Background service seems to be running but also crashing when tapped.

I tried everything, waypoints and locations are working but no more events entering/leaving. And yes, with no disconnect between locations (WiFi off). Please Fix, it's almost useless now...

great! nice way to get your location history without sharing it with some company that does who knows what with it.

Y70%

Worked great until an update sometime in the past couple of days, now it immediately disconnects from the server (mosquitto reports "Socket error on client user/device, disconnecting.") as soon as its connected. Sometimes it manages to publish a location or two from the queue before it disconnects, usually not.

It works well. Biggest issue for me is massive Wakelocks. All of a sudden owntracks decided to keep my phone awake and drain battery. If there was a bug report built into the app is do it. I'll rate higher once wakelocks are addressed. Quick reply from Dev gets a boost in rating from me. Will edit review again when bug is squashed.

Exactly what I needed. Works as intended, and integrates into other systems without too much effort!

I have been working to configure this to work with home-assistant and after much finagling and doc reading it works. Would like to have more display control on old devices. MQTT is behind a lot of decisions but some simple GUI controls over display would be nice.

Used the iOS version for a year, and loved it. Two months ago I switched to Android, and find this version very unreliable. Detects the entering of a region only about 50% of the time, often hours after the region was entered. I have it integrated with my openHAB system, which means I'm entering the home in the dark, then dealing with lights randomly turning on in the middle of the night. Additionally, there's no circular outline of the region, and there's no region only mode, meaning unnecessary data usage

This is for you if you are looking for a privacy oriented gps tracker solution and most of all : if you are willing to read an excellently composed documentation. Built it for my kids, nephews, nieces and children's friends. On a Ubuntu 16.04 LTS.

Really wanted to use this to fit in with my love for MQTT and the numerous automation softwares it works with but causes a massive performance hit on the phone and destroys battery life. :-(

But after an update it always fails to reconnect and i miss status updates.

The current Android is behind and lacks support for https connections that are needed with the sandstorm deployment of own tracks.

I'm cautiously optimistic this version fixes the problem experienced in the previous version, so I've updated the review to 4 stars. I still need to update the wife's phone so I can see if the friends' location stuff is working... will redo review after testing...
