About A-Mi Project
Who is A-Mi?
A-Mi is a representative of people who believes the treasure of hearts and the measure of wealth is the capability of sharing and giving; people who sees the value of life. “When there’s give, there’s gain” is an old Chinese proverb, and A-Mi lives these words. A-Mi cares for people and the earth and celebrates the richness of diversity in human personality, culture and contribution.
Why are they called A-Mi?
People who create Love Circle are called “A-Mi”, rice. Rice pronounces “Mi” in Mandarin, and we often use “A” in front of any single letter to call a person to make it sounds more right. Rice is the main dish in Chinese society. Almost every Chinese grows up eating rice - Rice is the vital yet humble food, and it also means kindness and generosity. The form of the rice is also very interesting – 米. The strokes go 8 directions without distinction. It gives the meaning of respect, learning, and sharing. That’s why we would like to call the people who are caring with a big heart, our friends, A-Mi.
What can A-Mi do?
There are different tasks listed on A-Mi Project platform. These tasks are about the children, families, and communities in need and how we can help. As an A-Mi, you can create a “Love Circle” to follow a specific task and learn how you can help them deal with challenges in life. Love Circle is a digital social tool which allows you to easily connect with your friends anytime, anywhere with a mission for the change. Love Circle is managed by A-Mi to facilitate an engagement between the beneficiaries and the caring friends. After creating a personalized Love Circle, A-Mi can invite friends to join this Love Circle, and the members can be from different parts of the world yet have same caring hearts that wish to support World Vision’s work in difficult environment. Once A-Mi decides to take action to start fundraising for the development work via this Love Circle, all the members embark the life-changing journey together with A-Mi, World Vision, and the beneficiaries. After the goal of fundraising is reached and the local work rolls out, World Vision’s staff will provide work updates to A-Mi, so A-Mi and the members can see how the resources be managed in a manner that brings maximum benefits to the beneficiaries. A-Mi can also invite “Love Circle” members to visit or to volunteer to work at Area Development Programs to serve the poor and transforming the lives of children in under privileged communities through proper arrangement of World Vision. A touching act of sharing or a caring word is the power of the change.
