One of the first apps I reinstalled on my new tablet. Great for reading in the evenings when the minimum default brightness doesn't dim enough. Also very useful when travelling and you don't want to disturb others with a glaring bright screen; you can quickly darken. Simple and effective. It's a shame that there's no ad-free version. I wouldn't mind paying for the upgrade.

This app is perfect for me on my Samsung Galaxy S. It takes forever for me to fall asleep at night, so I usually twiddle around with my phone till I get sleepy. Let's face it, the back lights on most phones are unnecessarily bright even on the lowest setting. Night Mode is perfect because now I don't have to worry about bothering my hubby with a bright light. Doesn't seem to affect my battery life either. 5 stars! I'd recommend this app to anyone.

Definitely enjoy having this app available at night time because it significantly dims the screen. Only minor issues are that on my nexus 4 I use GEL with the translucent touch home bar and it remains undimmed. Also when putting the phone to sleep the screen normally has a short shutter transition but this is not dimmed and so results in a bright flash. If these issues can be corrected it would be perfect!

Until f.lux releases an Android version of its light augmentation app this is my go to for removing the blue pigment from the light late in the evening so it doesn't keep me up at night and stress my eyes. This app also offers amazing control allowing you to lower the brightness way more than any stock application does. I have had my phone on in the movie theater the screen was so dim that my neighbor would have had a tough time trying to discern whether it was on or off

I use this app daily and it's absolutely perfect! It saves me on average around 60% more battery than the crappy Samsung dimmer does and as another benefit, this is free! Please don't listen to the people saying that it drains battery because it really does not. Thank you so very much for such a simple yet amazing application.

in the unused space below the the dimmer bar could have 3 preset buttons, initially set to 25%, 50% and 75% and below that a timer button, set by default to say 1h10' which would display a silent notification 10' before ending (so that you play/read moderately before going to bed). also when opening the app, the dimmer should automatically start at an adjustable value (initially say 75%) - this removes the need for widget cause i can drag the shortcut on homescreen thus saving memory. otherwise, cool app.

This is the first app I've ever rated. I am usually too lazy to bother with endeavors such as rating a digital app on an online marketplace. After all, what does one get out of rating an app 5 stars other than a subtle warm feeling that something is right in the universe? At least when you rate an app 3 or 4 stars, you might hope to see delivered value out of your labours in the form of promptly implemented improvements. In this case, no such value is to be had as Night Mode is the definition of perfection

I use this app every night! Love that you can turn the display down well past the regular dimmer of the phone. Let's me read or play a couple of games to relax before going to sleep without the bright light of the screen blazing in my eyes against the contrast of the darkness. Allows my husband to get to sleep without my phone light bother him either. Is also great for the middle of the night use. Looking forward to mentioned upgrades of a scheduler.

Brilliant love the app and is used daily for getting my son to bed. as I have to sit there for an hour.. *this way I can sit and not be bored. :-D* Brilliant for playing on ur phone in bed at night just choose how dark you want it. Very easy to use (Just don't forget to turn it off for when going out in brightness again :-) )

This little app is by far one of my favorites. Have you ever been waiting for a movie to start, and you want to check the score? But your phone dimmer still looks like a lighthouse in a harbor, blasting your business to everyone around you. Well this is your screen dimming app! It takes the brightness on your screen down to a crazy low setting. Cycles through full bright to total dim off, and all the dim sweetness in between. Perfection!

But one problem. I got this app when I had a galaxy s2. It worked great during movies. One thing I really liked was how it turned the backlit buttons on the bottom off. Well I just got a galaxy s3 lte from virgin mobile and I redownloaded this app. Started using and notices that every time I'd touch the screen the backlit buttons would still come on. If ya guys can't fix it its no biggie. Love the app!!!!

It's really cool.. Now atleast u can chat in the night without letting anyone know But In my HTC one x the home, back, recent apps button lights up.. I would love it if u could please disable that... And moreover I wanted to ask you that.. Is it safe to use because it makes my screen go even dimmer than my minimum brightness level??

by C####:

Does what it's supposed to. Very pleased especially as I tried Dimly first and that jammed my phone up totally. Was not impressed. So go for this one. Uses little space too so even better. Downloading it for my tablet now, too, as it does such a good job. Thankyou..update October. Added to my smaller tablet now too. This is one of my top 5 apps, easily. So useful

I originally got this just to work at night. It's great for that, but the biggest lifesaver about it for me is that I can use it while dealing with a light sensitive migraine! I'm in the middle of a 2-day one right now and can actually use my phone because of this app. Perfect for any time you need to reduce brightness!

Not many "dim" apps work but this one does the job greatly. Even at the lowest settings, my phones brightness is sun mode but this actually darkens the screen. I'm impressed. 9.5/10 and it's free. Don't believe me? Try it out yourself! It does need a widget though.

This application works like it says it does. I use every night when I read myself to sleep. Standard is too bright, night mode takes care of that. Can we aim the front touch buttons? The stay bright, I usually disable them for most apps. Great work. ***updated device ***i now use a droid turbo II. Nite dims it well enough, but three is always this strip at the bottom where front touch buttons would be, but I have them hidden, however, the background behind is not dimming. My phone or app?

It's great! It does what it says and any problems like screenshots being dark are most likely unavoidable. What keeps me from giving five stars is the process of waking up and trying to turn off Night Mode on a near-invisible screen. Please add a "Turn off Night Mode at a certain time" (the morning)! Also having an expandable notification with an on/off switch would be nice.

App is great, allows me to use my phone in the dark without being blinded by the screen, just needs a setting to automatically turn itself off by the morning, or when the light sensor senses daylight. Had a couple of times where I have forgotten to turn it off and then have been unable to use my phone in the sunlight! Five stars if this is added!

by C####:

It works amazing for android such as Samsung Galaxy S3! The only bad thing about it is when I take a screenshot while I'm in night mode, and then let's say after I took the screenshot I turned it off,the picture is in night mode and its dark. Anyways for my type if phone,BEST APP! Get this app!

My favourite and must have app! Saves the battery, helps lessen the brightness more than the system default, so its useful if you're at home or using cellphone at night for reading and other stuffs. Over all, great app! Perfect app! Does what its meant to be, no extra bullshit! And consumes less space! Keep it up! :)

It's a good app.plz can u r eply to these questions? 1. What percent of light should be kept in pitch dark? 2. What percent should be kept in the evenings(7pm to 10 pm)in normal room light surroundings 3.What percent should be kept in the morning day light? Plz reply..I am over protective to my eyes so plz reply the min percentages (lesser than the usual). And plz reply don't reply as it's relative to ur surroundings..

I only use this app to disable the soft buttons' backlight, but it takes 26mb of RAM to do so. Alternatively, the apps Brightness Adjuster and Night Filter do the same thing, but one of them only uses 2mb of ram. If this could use as much ram as they do, and not have the same frame rate issues that they do (thankfully this doesn't :p), then it would be the best.

This would be a fantastic app if a time function was added so you could set a dusk till dawn period where it goes on and off autimatically. Until that's added it only gets 3 stars. If they want 5 stars then add a timer.

I am usingthis app since one year at early stages when it was launched it was awesome but now it is closed automatically when I run it. It means I have to go to the app icon again for starting it than back to reading and the process repeats again and again, please fix it as I was addicted to this app I don't wanna go to the other one.

I had no problems with it, and the ads dont really bother me since it only shows up on the app screen itself and the bottom. Nothing big. Night Mode saves my eyes from the irratating bright light of my phone.

This is a good application with simple GUI. It's Simplicity amazed me. But it can be even better. I found some minor bugs. Also to the devloper, please try to add automatic disable feature. Schedule time for app start is also a major point. Please think about it. Regards,

This fulfills a very great need. The brightness of a screen even when set to lowest can be harmful at nught. Night mode that exists in UC browser needs to be generalised for the whole display. This app does exactly the same. What more, you can also control the dimness. Overall an incredible and must have app.

I have a black berry Priv and it makes a huge difference. The only thing is the dark shade doesn't cover the screen all the way to bottom. It stops about 2-3" to the bottom of the screen, plus leaving the android stock buttons (Home, back, recent alps) as bright as normal. But it's better than hurting my eyes with the regular brightness of the full screen at night.

I've had this program installed for almost a year... when I installed it initially the developer stated "scheduler coming soon" Without this the app is tedious and often unused. I finally switched to "screen dimmer" which has a scheduler and an awesome widget... now I don't have to worry about forgetting to turn it off... night mode does what it says... but it's not practical in the way it has to be used.

There must be a bug because lately the app turns itself off in the middle of me looking at my dark screen. In the dark lit room. Causing a blinding light from my phones brightness setting to come back on please fix this and ill change rating

Your app lets me read books and view my device without burdening my eyes with a bright screen even at its lowest factory setting. It's their any chance it can dim the pop up notifications also? (Samsung Galaxy S3)

This app is stupendous. I wish I had found it sooner. It always bothered me that the minimum level of brightness was still a bit too bright for use in total darkness. I was pleasantly surprised too see a few apps for this on the Plizay Stizore. After trying a couple (don't remember which) I found this one and it does exactly what it says, without annoying notification ad's and other $ tricks. It's simple to use and reliable. Thank you to the developers for this very useful app. I highly recommend this app!

Used a bunch of apps to do similar thing. But this one makes it easy and gets the job done. Use it to dim the screen when driving at night so it's not blinding and doesn't draw attention to me when phone is on.

I absolutely love this app! It does exactly what it says no more no less and this is exactly what I need when don't quite need the flashlight and I don't the dimmer that already comes programmed into the phone! I will definitely share this with family and friends!

Thank you for the app, I only have one issue with those ads that are loaded when I open it. Those ads drain battery and internet traffic to be loaded. Are you considering to make a paid version ? I would rate 5 stars if it was without ads. And I'm sure a lot of users would pay as well . Thanks.

Went into "Google play" knowing what I want. This app was the first one to pop out, I installed it, and it's exactly what I needed. 5 stars, thank you.

As for function, the app works perfectly. However, it could use some conveniences such as a toggle on/off widget and perhaps even a slider replacing that of regular brightness.

U70%
by U####:

But seriously this is an amazing app, it doesn't let you go all the way blacked out which is awesome because then if you accidentally turned the screen off you'd have to restart the phone! No more waking the girlfriend up playing some vidya Odd thing is, and if the devs could fill me in on this my navigation bar stays at least 5x brighter than the rest of the screen

Z70%
by Z####:

Could you make an app for samsung phones to disable the light or turn it down a bit, the two lighting buttons next to the home screen? Also I would like it if you made this to working in the top bar of screen where you receive notifications if you could make a slider there right below the brightness slider, and also a simple enough button that just turns it on off but saves it's previous preferences. And while I am adjusting the volume on my phone the audio interface still runs at regular brightness levels.
