About PhotoCloud Frame Slideshow

Just sit back and watch your photos with your family; convert your old Android tablet to a digital photo frame; browse your cloud photos, hassle-free. The only digital frame application which supports your own OwnCloud/NextCloud servers, with self-signed https certificates, and any SSH+SFTP server. No-fluff and no bloat; old-school app which is simple to use and just works.

Supported photo streams:
- Files stored on any OwnCloud/NextCloud server, even with self-signed https certificate
- Files stored in your Dropbox account
- Local Gallery
- Flickr
- Microsoft OneDrive
- Windows Shares (Samba)
- Mega
- 500px
- Instagram (Instagram removed the Feed API thus only the Recent Media is accessible)
- SSH and SFTP
- DLNA/UPNP

Supported image types:
- bitmap: png, gif, bmp, jpg, jpeg
- raw: crw, cr2, nef, raf, dng, mos, kdc, dcr (by default ignored since loading RAWs will generate huge network traffic; just enable raws in app's Settings)

Endlessly cycles photos from any combination of the streams. You can play all photos from the stream, or you can limit the stream to given list of directories (and subdirs). You can also browse the files of the stream manually. The photos are automatically cached locally; when offline, you can show slideshow from cached photos only.
Supports slideshowing photos from subdirectories.

Supports ChromeCast (requires Android 4.4 and higher) - casts current slideshow to your TV. Leanback/Android TV is not currently supported. Supports Daydream (Android 4.2 and higher only).

Pricing: free version shows a "please purchase" images once a while during the slideshow. There is an in-app payment which removes these images. Another in-app payment unlocks the Daydream/Screensaver integration.

Please note:
This is just a digital frame / photo browser. It does not play any music (only a background one ;), does not create videos, does not replace your gallery app, it does simply one thing - shows a slideshow of your photos - and does it simply and right.

Because of its nature, the application generates a very high network traffic - please make sure you have WIFI enabled. The app has built-in network protection and will abort the Slideshow if WIFI disconnects.

No annoying video commercials, simple to use. This application is at its infancy, please let me know which features would you like me to implement. The following features are planned:
1. Each directory will be able to be configured with a daily hour range at which the directory is polled for photos - you can create a daily gallery, an evening gallery, even a night gallery.
2. Add support for Google Picasa, Facebook ...

Required permissions:
INTERNET - to download photos from cloud services
WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE - to workaround a bug in older Androids to cache photos
GET_ACCOUNTS - Google Drive and App Billing requires this
BILLING - In-app purchases
ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE - allows PhotoCloud to monitor for WiFi and stop slideshow to avoid cellular network charges
RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED - to automatically start (if so configured)
ACCESS_WIFI_STATE - to discover DLNA devices
CHANGE_WIFI_MULTICAST_STATE - to discover DLNA devices
WAKE_LOCK - to keep the phone awake during slideshow

Hi, I tried to email you, but your email address didn't work. I just paid $11 for this app as it looks great. However, when streaming photos through OneDrive, I get an exception error after it displays a number of photos correctly. This makes it unusable. I have submitted an issue on github. Thanks, Kris

I got a new error from an Instagram account. It appears once in a while. I press back, then start the slideshow again and it will continue for a couple of days before the error appears again. Any ideas? sk.baka.photoframe.util.IOExceptionWithCause: sk.baka.photoframe.util.IOExceptionWithcause: Read error: ssl=0x536c8780: I/O error during system call, Connection reset by peer

App looks very promising, UI is nicely thought out. Taking images from an SMB share is very unreliable, though - after a while app shows a Java exception message for a timeout, either while crawling the folders or running the slideshow. Fortunately I have a device with a keyboard and a Home key to get control back - when the message is showing the screen does not respond to touch and would otherwise need a power off!

Just what I was looking for, well worth the cost. Does what I want the way I want it without any bloated features.

Finally the search is over. This is the best app for turning your tablet in a photoframe using your OneDrive stored photo's. There is even a screensaver/daydream function so that a slideshow will be started after xx seconds of not using the tablet/phone. Very convenient for people using a tablet for their domotica stuff (when not using it, it will display all your photo's) Furthermore the support from the developer is great!

Don't use this, why? Every few frames: PAY PAY PAY image. I found "Digital Photo Frame Slideshow" app for network slideshow. If it stays good, I'll but that pro version. I've bought over hundred pro apps here after testing free versions. This app wastes your time because the free version for trial is basically unusable. Worst pestering app I tried since 2010. Don't waste your time 20th slam app.

Exactly what I was looking for, excellent support too. All working fine now, after very fast updates.

the best: I tried pretty much every Slideframe (foto frame) app i could get my hands on. This one is the only one i found who : can fetch from Samba, Network share, private cloud, reads subfolders recursively, autostarts when on power, displays full folder and filename, shows metadata, has geolocation, back/forward, and actually works, stable. Some minor glitches still, but great responsiveness of developer. Thanks

It's good an easy to use. But I can't use it with Amazon cloud/ Amazon photos or Verizon cloud. I would love it if that were a feature in the future.

C70%
by C####:

Perfect. Though it can do many things, it does the following for me exactly as I wanted- start on charge, specific folder on SD card, visible status bar :)

C70%
by C####:

Best option I've come across yet, would be 5 stars if there was an option to not hide the status bar (I don't want to miss notifications just because I have my photos up), and a way to force a skip (i.e. I have display time set to 30 seconds, but can swipe to bypass a pic or something)

C70%
by C####:

Best option out there. Tried many. I purchased to support the thoughtful, responsive dev.

Been looking for something that does what it says it does, like this app. Works well and fast load times for large folders with many jpgs. Tried others that had issues, maybe because they attempted to do too many things. Very good app for displaying photos.

Would be better if supported gif playback.

Great app so far! Just what I was looking for. Love the flexibility. It is allowing me to turn an old Nook Color into a decent digital photo frame. Working great with ownCloud. Would like to have scheduling options for dimming/blanking at night, but am very pleased. I'll definitely buy it to support the development.

Great app! I bought a cheap tablet ($80), and I stream photos from a samba share. Makes for a better photo frame than you could ever find

C70%

Connected to my Mega account and then displayed multiple messages telling me to buy the app. Useless app.

Can't link to mega account

Z70%

Works well for Flikr and Dropbox. But gives an authorization error for Instagram. It appears the author needs to re-register the app to access instagram feeds. Do that and you get 5 stars

C70%

Tried a few others and this is the best. I'm only missing the ability to play videos on the slideshow, playing them via VLC would be awesome.

C70%
by C####:

Seems nice. Only missing backwards (and forward) for when that old photo is show, but you didn't have time to stop the slide. Possibly also play videos.

I just wanted to stream my photos to my TV. I tried lots of apps; some look ugly and do not work, some require to be rated (and do not work), some do not support ChromeCast... This one's a keeper: it is simple, reliable and does exactly what it says.

I have been searching for months to find an app to turn my tablet into a digital photo frame by showing photos from my server's folder share...and I finally found one that works! It is very easy to use and haven't found any issues with it.

This App running on a tablet is better than most photo display dedicated machines. The ability to autostart when the charger is turned on makes it very simple to use.

I set it up on an inexpensive tablet for my mom. I connect to a share on her laptop, so she can easily change the pictures herself. This app is very reliable at making the connection. The developer is very responsive. Recommended

Simply works. The first app which actually chromecasts something to my tv. The local gallery browser should immediately show my photos though
