Now you have a solution! You can download this interactive “offline” city map application for your Android device before your trip! Best of all it is perfectly free!

You can begin using it in two (2) easy steps:
One: Get the application itself.
Two: Shortly after installation, it will automatically begin downloading a 200MB database from Google Play to your device.

After it finishes downloading and updating, you will not need a network connection to use the software to have more pleasant stay in Tokyo!


This offline travel guide [application] is composed of the following elements: a map, selection, and a guide.

The initial state is map mode. When you select map mode, you will get menu options for: Railway Stations, [important] Spots, Restaurant, and Bars, “Checked” options, Map Center 60 (object display)” and “Location ON/OFF”. This control panel is accessed from the “menu” button of the Android device.

+ Initially, you can see a default 60 spots on the map.
+ Selecting “Railway Station”, will display a couple hundred railway, and subway stations. Note: Although there are more than 400 stations in and around Tokyo, it covers all the major stations.
+Selecting “Spots”, you can see major areas and tourist attractions, famous hotels and shopping locations in Tokyo.
+ Selecting “Restaurant and Bar”, you can see choice restaurants and bars in Tokyo.
+ Selecting “Map Center 60”, will show the nearest 60 spots from map center. If you move your map center and press it again you will see a different set of 60 spots.
+ When you select Location ON/OFF, GPS positioning will start and stop. Note: Initially, GPS is OFF.

In guide mode, you can select “About Tokyo”, “Major Area”, “Sight”, “Hotel”, “Shopping”, “Restaurant and Bar” and “Transportation” options.

From “Major Area” to “Restaurant and Bar”, you can see detailed introductions of referenced points of interest. On the subsequent screen list, you can check topics of interest.

When you select “Transportation”, you will have the option of selecting the Railway or Subway lines of the Tokyo metropolitan area.
