About Absolute Tides

Displays officially licenced UKHO tidal data on an annual basis without ever needing to go online.

The tidal data is contained in our annual data plugins and must be purchased using in-app purchases. Therefore this app should not be considered a free app.

Once you have purchased the data, this app will allow you to view UKHO standard port tides up to a year in advance.

The app will also calculate secondary port tides using either your offset data or its own built in offsets. (at least 38 primary ports and over 500 secondary ports, see our website for more details on coverage)

The main view is an 'At a glance' table view of each month's tides and tidal ranges.

Selecting an entry will display an easy to use daily chart view showing the tide height for any time of day and a tidal stream view showing tidal direction and speed at hourly intervals.

The 'At a glance' info for today can also be displayed on your homescreen using our widget.

Downloads and displays the current Met Office Inshore Forecast.

Absolute Tides also makes anchoring easy by calculating the maximum and minimum tides beween the current time and any selected future date/time.

Note: This application will NOT work without at least one of our tidal data in-app purchases being installed. Please check that the tide data you want is available before downloading this app. As will all Android Apps, the widget will not work if the app is stored on an SD card.

The small print:
For leisure use only.
Heights of tides can vary from those predicted depending on the prevailing weather conditions.
All data is given in good faith and is believed to be correct but we accept no responsibility for any consequential loss or damage arising from use of this application.
Secondary port data calculated using offsets will be less accurate than the UKHO standard port data.
This app is neither affiliated to nor endorsed by the Met Office.

Really impressive App with the most useful Widget that instantly provides all the relevant information for my local tidal area. Tidal Diagrams are basic, but give much needed information. Looking forward to the French ports being included. Getting better & better with every update. Technophobes might struggle, but sailors with any aptitude for IT will love this app. The best tide app by far.

V70%
by V####:

The options are simple enough but it's by no means straight forward. Once up and running, I struggled to work out what to do and to get a secondary port on. It's still a little bit of a challenge months on such as to check next year's tides as I have to brows through various options till I find what I'm after. Apart from that, the app information is very impressive and is well presented, although the list setout can easily throw you off guard as the tide highs & lows swaps around down through the list.

Odd glitch on Android 5.1 Moto G where moon phases on multi-day tabular view show on the wrong dates. Detail single day view shows correct phase. A minor niggle in an otherwise excellent app.

T70%
by T####:

A good app, few glitches and nice presentation. Would recommend this to beach walkers and coastal sailors so you have a view of how the tide on a given day will affect what you plan to do. 'Local time' on main page sometimes out but not a real issue.

I rarely review apps but after spending ages trying to find any android apps which are functionally comparable to the Imray iPhone tide app finally found this. If you own a boat and need a tide app which is actually useful for things like drying moorings, sill heights, safe anchorages etc, then this one does the job. Well worth the few pence.

L70%
by L####:

Would have been 5 stars but on my Huawei P9+, the widget does not automatically update. Current info on widget only refreshes after entering and exiting the app.

Useful off-line tide planner giving primary and secondary port heights. Has bonus of tidal stream and MetOffice inshore weather forecast. Interface could be improved e.g. when selecting tidal stream area it's not obvious where you need to click on. Recommended.

First screen asked me to buy plug ins. Couldnt even open it to try. Useless. These designers SHOULD give up their day job.

Can't seem to move my tidal diamond,as done previously, slack and tide speeds etc only on Portsmouth....can it be sorted.Good apart from that

T70%
by T####:

Great concept. Initial issues resolved when reinstalled, works well.

T70%

Really useful apart from the tidal stream maps which are only for Portsmouth.not much use when you are somewhere else

Its a con. Can't use without purchasing the data. Dont waste your time

Best UK tides app for Android

T70%

Excellent App. because it works offline as data is stored on device. I sail a lot in NW Scotland and West Coast of Ireland, forget the internet as 3G/4G coverage is bad as it is when offshore. Great for secondary ports as it has a big list. No more working out the tides for secondary ports using Reeds. I have checked it by Reeds several times over the last 2 years and always found it accurate. Also tidal steams are very useful. Just purchased 2017, third year of use. I just wish they would do one for France and North Spain.

I've just paid to update port data to 2017 but I continue to only have 2016 data and a message to change my port data. I have installed the 2017 data, but app is still showing 2016 when I open App. Restarted my phone. Still 2016 data. Uninstalled and reinstalled App....still only 2016....help please. ... Only 2 stars at this point...5 when it's back to working as it should with up to date data.

Like the ability to buy annual data. The app is developing with marine (Met Office) weather, tidal flow and daily graphs. 4x1 widget good as well. Downsides are a sometimes less than intuitive UI and random, inaccurate moon phase data on the summary list. The moon is a problem as that would illustrate tidal range a glance.

R70%

Works very well on Hudl, giving you tide data for the year ahead for £2.50. I preferred the previous interface however. If adding new year's data you have to select e.g. 2017 or it still gives you last year's data.

T70%

Great app. Weather, tidal streams and tide heights plotted out for all primary and secondary ports in UK waters.

K70%

The new user interface is even more clunky than the old one and the map screen doesn't work properly now. The drop down for the location doesn't look like a drop down so you don't realise it is, and tapping "now" changes the displayed time but the map doesn't update.

X70%
by X####:

I'm unconvinced by the changes to this excellent app, though latest revisions to changes in port selection and management have helped. I find the now smaller tidal curve graphic and tidal stream atlas difficult to read and use on a 7" tablet. That said, the main functionality is unchanged, and after 3 years use, I believe it's the best tide app for UK waters. It gives accurate information even for secondary ports, and does away with the need to perform tedious tidal height calculations - a great safety feature. The tidal stream atlases are stamped with the times for the selected day, so you can see at a glance what the stream will be hour by hour. It would be useful if the Inshore Forecast was saved so it could be viewed offline.

The options are simple enough but it's by no means straight forward. After purchasing the data, it wouldn't give an option to download it and I only had a blank screen. Then, once up and running, I struggled to work out what to do and get a secondary port on. Then I struggled to get the following year up on display. Apart from that, the app information is impressive and is well presented, although the list setout can easily throw you off guard as the tide highs & lows swaps around down through the list.

Except Red Text On Blue On Widget... Virtually impossible to read.

How do you change the area for the tidal streams? Other than that app is good

Q70%
by Q####:

Was a brilliant app. Unfortunately the latest update has completely ruined it Now, unless I'm missing something, the app no longer stores downloaded data. It has to be downloaded each time one wants to use it. Fine if one has a good G4 signal or fast broadband but unfortunately there are many coastal locations where neither is available. Also one now has to remember to adjust for BST each time one does manage to download data. Very disappointed.

M70%

The latest version seems to have deleted tides for previous years that I had installed. I prefered the older version as I could see what date/time I went through crucial tidal gates in order for me to plan repeat passages.

Great app - many thanks! Still the best. Thanks for the update.

Old version was great. This didn't work initially and required 3 reloads but has some improvements although the colour scheme is less good

P70%

A great app, especially as I have now read the instructions, really useful are the tidal stream data especially now you can zoom in.I quite like the new gui, worth the meagre 2 pounds for the data

Really impressive App & the Widget is most useful, instantly giving all the relevant information for my local tidal area. Tidal Diagrams are basic, but give much needed information. Looking forward to the French & Irish ports being included.

Please could you increase the depth of keel to 15 meters or more. The new version has reduced to 10 meters. I use this app on merchant ships of drafts greater than 10 meters. Only a guide but very handy.

K70%
by K####:

Use it regularly when in the tide way . Particularly useful for anchoring considering the tidal range in Bristol channel.

K70%
by K####:

This is a brilliant concept and has the potential to be best ever tidal app. At the moment there seems to be a bug in the tidal atlas synchronisation, at least in North Channel and West Scotland. It does not correlate the time shown with hours after HW Dover correctly. It may be six hours out of sync. Please fix for total satisfaction
