Our information has been gathered through extensive research, all of the rig/bait information shown across the App has been supplied by experts in their field such as current England National Shore Angling Team Member and Sponsored Angler Mr Malcolm Stote, Skipper/ Angling Journalist Mr Rob Thompson and LRF/Lure Fishing Sponsored Pro Angler Mr Will Harding.
Whether your chosen hobby is Diving, Shore angling, Boat angling, Kayak angling, Lure Fishing, LRF angling or all of the above, the What Fish UK App has information that will be of great interest to you.
Here is what the pros had to say:
★ “Great app for anglers at all levels of ability; I especially like the pictures and description of the fantastic Portsmouth Rig! Whoever came up with that must be a genius!
Ian Golds: England National Shore Angling Team Member.
★ “In our magazine 'Boat Fishing Monthly' we are passionate about supplying our readers with current and up to date rigs and bait suggestions to help them catch fish and we have found the WFUK App to be a great portable source of reference on these subjects”
Dave Barham: Boat Fishing Monthly Magazine.
★ “What a wonderful App! I was very impressed when I downloaded it and would recommend it to anybody that has an interest in Sea Fishing”
Chris Clark: Angling Journalist.
★ “The "what fish UK" Smartphone app is great for fish identification for the novice right up to the experienced angler. We've all caught, or witnessed being caught a fish that we weren't sure of. Well not any more. Not only does it cover all the fish you’re ever likely to catch In UK waters it gives good advice on the latest rigs, baits and even recipes to eat your catch. Thoroughly recommended”
Perry Dack: England National Boat Angling Team Member.

Great app, a must have for the angler
So for the price I paid I got a lot of pictures of fish and some spiel, wheres the rig data and other MORE usefull info. Oh and if your going to tell people you cant eat a species I would like to know WHY not, is it poisonous or merely taste awfull, because some people who assume it is because it may just taste awfull might like to still try it and then end up dead !. Oh well. I would like to see the rig data implemented, and more usefull stuff than just pretty pics I can google on my phone anyway.
Works a treat, what every angler needs
Very pleased with this, a great buy! Now to catch some fish and try the recipes...
It is very good and has a lot of fish information but could involve some information about different rigs.
But would like to know how I am still being charged £2 every month after purchasing the application I didn't see anything in the terms and conditions before purchase or I wouldn't have bothered. So would like to know what is going on ASAP cheers
This app is great but lacks the ability to view photos and images when not in range of wifi or fast mobile data signals. This app could be perfect with the addition of an option to download images for identifying the fish in your chosen location so that you can still identity fish without the need for Internet access.
I'm a long term user of this app, and have seen it through several updates. the last update has included a bit of activity related advertising, after the initial irritation, and after spending a couple of days going through updated info, I'll say it's definitely worth putting up with. The massively expanded knowledge base is incredible, most of the fishing books you buy show you pictures of fish, and how to tie a trace or two, and the author's life story- not here! This app gives you the information needed to target specific species with baits/rigs and rough info as to what fish can be found where, tactics for shore, kayak, and boat fishing (for each fish covered!) diagrams, photos to assist in fish ID, heck, it even gives you recipes for your catch! Simply put, there is no other, book or app out there like this- if you fish the sea, even if you're just a casual fisherman this app is worth a look, and worth your money.
Advertising taking up screen space in a paid app is unforgivable! A lot of repetition. Species search by location would be nice. Much room for improvements but overall useful. Lure galleries ???
Puts so much information in my pocket I feel like a fishing guru.
Excellent App, can't fault it & has helped me catch many more species of fish....proper job.
I love this app so simple to use but with all info on all species and fishing tips pure brilliant......5stars all the way
This app is a must have for all fisherman. Not only does it help identify what you have caught, also gives you some cracking recipes! Latest update makes this app even better. Lots of great information. First app that meets all my fishing needs. Whoever gives this less than a 5 star rating is clueless!
My last review said this app was missing the mini species records but it has since been updated I now give this app 5 stars as it is nothing short of excellent
I like the way it mixes ID with similar species and recommends rigs and baits
Great, easy to use app. Recommended to all sea fishermen
My 1 issue is. On the smaller species can you add natural baits and rigs please as well as LRF rigs and baits. But this is a great app
Fantastic value. Great to have this amount of information at hand when fishing.
This is a great app and is just what I need!
Brilliant app, so useful
Very good app find it very useful
Good app with lots of useful information.1 thing I would change would be to add a reason as to why some species are inedible.other than that great
Bought this app as I'm new to sea fishing and have not had a problem identifying the fish I have been catching. Great information and easy to use. 5 stars guys!
I got this ap for my samsung galaxy note and at first it wouldnt work but the developers got in touch with me and found a fix straight away and now it works like a dream. The customer service is 100% cant fault it at all. The ap itself is perfect for any fisherman. It helps identify each fish and tells u the locations it can be found and best bait to use and it even gives u a tasty receipe should u decide to keep ur catch. Best ap Ive ever downloaded well worth the money! !!!
Only criticism so far if you want it right, is that it shouldn't be called 'latin name' but 'scientific name' as some scientific names are Greek. A free bit of Marine Biology BSc for you there ;-)
Couple of things wrong, ie Halibut is an edible fish. But in the main a great app.
Love this app just needs rigs making apps now
