What are users saying about Met Office Weather

by Z####:

It can't even tell me it's raining in Cardiff? Can it find Cardiff? Not sure. My eyes & ears tell me it's raining in Cardiff though so it's ok..

by A####:

When the software was updated I can no longer find Corsham. It used to be in the database but has mysteriously disappeared. Any chance of getting it back as it's quite a big Town!

by R####:

Love the accuracy but I'm never on the app for long before it crashes, which it does without fail, every time I use it and I use it everyday!

by J####:

Nice app, plenty of detail and visually pleasing. A little unstable at the moment. Am I able to see a weather map for the country I'm in? Recently the widget has kept disappearing.

by Y####:

It's crashes at the same place every time, when I try to access the hourly maps. Despite a couple of emails to The met office their reply was ”Our mobile applications have now been in place for a few years and are at the end of their life cycle. We are currently developing new applications for Android and iPhone which will be ready for release during the second half of the financial year. With regret I am unable to commit to a fixed timescale.” Don't waste your time on this app!

by F####:

Wont give where i live on version i pay for, but will on free version, its like they put less effort into pay for version. And does not update as often,

by C####:

Works well now and gives great access to my preferred weather info provider.

by E####:

Best app for accuracy and functionality by far. Since new version my town has disappeared from the dB. Warrington no longer available. ??? 5 stars when, if, fixed.

by N####:

Love it. Hate it. Great, reliable weather info. Shame it takes at least 5 attempts to get anything out of it. So frustrating!! Was never this bad before.

by H####:

All those years with the BBC, they'll probably go with some foreign company who really hasn't a clue, hope we will get the same great weather from yourselves in the future, no matter what they do their are millions out there who rely on you everyday giving us the most up to day forecasts, long may it last.

by K####:

Use to be a reliable and functional application, which I have used for a couple of years. Over the past few days it has started crashing as soon as I open it. Sort it out please. An unhappy galaxy S6 user

by O####:

Does everything I want and more. Takes a little getting used to, but once familiar with it navigation is quick.

by X####:

I liked the app but had to uninstall as after a couple of minutes use on *every* occasion it crashed.

by P####:

It's extremely slow and laggy even on the most powerful devices, the design is dated and navigation is awkward. It now crashes regularly despite 'bug fixes'.

by M####:

I have the one plus two phone and the app does not load at all. Is anyone else having the same issue? Can someone take a look into this?

by B####:

Not sure what others are talking about, it never crashes for me. That said, not sure i like the UI, for me it feels like an iOS port rather than an android app.

by Q####:

This is a Met office app dare I say the 'Met office', weather forecasting is their game but apparently not writing apps! It keeps dropping out and trying to put my location in, is just impossible, does not recognise my town name or my post code?

by G####:

Ugly, clunky, dated UI and crash prone app. I expect better from the Met Office who are meant to be at the forefront of technology.

by S####:

I usually check tomorrows weather as I go to bed. However don't bother with this app between midnight and 1am. For some reason the only 'hourly' summary for the rest of the day you are now in, is the 2300 hours one????? Also not everyone has location turned on, so when it is off please get rid of the screen of where I was last week! Sort it out please!!

by L####:

by T####:

Force closes on opening sometimes and generally showing its age. Nevertheless I have shelled out for the ad free version and am eagerly awaiting the new version of this app. C'mon Met Office, give us an app to be proud of...!

by I####:

Was an ok app, but i now get a constant ad pop up that i can't get rid of,no matter how many times i press X. Only way to get rid of the ad is to close and reopen the app. App now deleted. Sorry met office.

by U####:

Started to become unreliable and crashed a lot then does not recognise home town at more. Updated and still no better. Tried to reinstall and now worse. Does not recognise location so now useless.

by V####:

With the BBC now moving away from the MET office in response to government cuts, I thought I'd try the MET office app again, only to find it still looks like it was made in 2009 and more importantly, there's no "current location" option for the widget, it won't even let me add a widget unless I have defined some static locations.

by D####:

I find app works well, and provides accurate results but is let down by widget. Please make a better widget that's smarter, less cartoony and provides more detail. Check out your competition, they have widgets miles ahead of you.

by W####:

Met forecast is generally the best but this app is slow and has a poorly designed interface, it bugs me a lot that I need to go thorough several clicks, often with several seconds' pause, to get what I want (the hourly forecast for today for my current location). Crashes a lot, too - so I'm downgrading it to one star, uninstalling it, and looking for something better.

by Z####:

Accurate forecasts when you eventually see them, but app is a poor user experience. Very slow and clunky, bloated with ads, often crashes, and often shows out of date forecasts and will not refresh. Disappointing.

by A####:

OK, but the Met Office obviously has a preoccupation with stupid people. Can we have an option in settings for a detailed, cluttered, instructive screen view? This blocky, pictogram-based version simply feels condescending, as in "I'm terribly clever and now I'm going to reduce this to a level you can understand". And why does entering my post code as a location yield the local tourist attraction? Is my existence beneath consideration or mention?

by R####:

To see how terrible this app is, pick a day and keep tally how many times the weather changes. And its not just slight variations either. Tomorrow has been rain, thunder, hail, sun, light rain and back to heavy rain each time the app updates. This app must base it's info on someone sticking their head out the front door and making a wild guess on what it feels like doing outside. My advice is do the same. Ignore this incredibly inaccurate app and just deal with what mother nature deals you on the day.

by J####:

Fix the crashes please. This previously brilliant app has now become terrible and unusable after the latest update. Please sort. In the meantime, I'm off to use accuweather.

by Y####:

Crashes on the map view every single time on my Xperia Z3. Crashes on my Note 2 and Xperia tablet as well. Utter garbage.

by F####:

Slow to refresh. Clumsy, featureless interface. Dated and uninspiring. Forecast data might be accurate but how it's visually comunicated via this app is disappointing.

by C####:

I use this app daily as a keen golfer,I like to plan ahead and the weather is important. However I get annoyed with the slow updating of the information, constant crashing and the disappearing locations. I live in Shaftesbury and it is a lottery if it appears in the location list from one day till the next. Other than that, when it does work I am more than happy with the information it supplies.

by E####:

Apart from being a little bloated this is a very good app, clear, concise and functional. Be great if Warnings could be included in time line for days, hour by hour by location. Also location seems dependant on network even when on WiFi which is odd! GPS will not give correct location on o2 but will with rubbish reception from Vodafone!?

by N####:

The app is currently running 3 hours behind meaning it is too out of date to be accurate. It rains too frequently when less than a 5% chance is forecast because of this. Seems to be even more behind after the clocks have gone forward too!

by H####:

Constantly crashes since 20th Aug. App loads, updates location, then shuts down when you click the weather for any time of the day. I am in north england so tried opening the weather for say London, same thing, app crashes, shuts down. Unuseable.

by K####:

New update is absolutely crap don't update it. When you click to see weather through out the day app crashes, completely useless update well done for ruining the app. Back to acuuweather I guess.

by O####: updated it and made it crash every time it gets used!! Was working fine up till last update??!.....but now fixed again - back to being a smooth useful app! Thanks devs!

by X####:

Great app, and have been using for years but recently it has kept crashing. Have just reinstalled to see if this will help. Have tried other weather apps but none are as easy to use or as reliable weatherwise as the good old met office. Sort the crashes and you can have your other star back :)

by P####:

After a week I still don't see how you get to hourly weather rather than weather warnings. Plus even when you DO want weather warnings it defaults to asking you to add a location, even when you already have.
