I know the app is not at the iOS level but I trust them they will manage to reach it! I waited this app to switch to android (it's not a joke since I use it like 2 hours each day commuting) I am sorry they don't offer "Paul" English voice from Acapella (which I found the best on iOS) but try Sharon or Will. Sharon sounds better for me. ... Few months passed from the original review. I gave the app 5 stars hopping go see it one day at the same level like the one in ios. Nothing changed. 4 stars...
I bought this app for my son to be able to read his book with bookshare but the app is always crashing. Truly a waste of my money.
Great App! I was apprehensive about it because of the price, but it exceeded my expectations. If you could use something like this it is worth the buy.
It is not in the same level as the iphone app.
The app has a very good voices and the usability is very good, but have a lot of bugs! Now it stops works. I cannot press the play button.
I love this app on iOS and while the android version isn't as good, it's still better then other android tts software.
I downloaded this on the advice of my husband who uses the iOS version every night to listen to before sleep. This seems to be lacking the important sleep timer though and some of the available voices? They are in love with Amy. HA!. Would love to know what the status is and once emplimented will update review. Thanks!
I am a user of the TalkBack screen reader on Android and do a lot of reading. I have been using this app for a while now, and it is by far the best experience on Android. I also enjoy the iPhone version is well. Thank you so much for developing this app and for continuing to update it. I truly appreciate your efforts. Keep up the good work. I highly recommend this application to anyone.
I really hope the app improves. I noticed that the app has been running poorly. It freezes a lot and I constantly have to add the text to speech voices that I have installed on my system every time I open the app. Sometimes I have to restart my device to get the app to load the voices that I have on my device. With the IOS version all your data stays on the app so you can change the voice quickly. I am hoping for a update to fix this issue.
Compare to iOS version this app has lots of bugs web page can't read by voices. User interface is not smooth compare to iOS version. Lots of features are missing even ivona Raveena voice is not available. Please bring the ivona voice to this platform and fix the bugs as soon as possible.
It doesn't show up on my apps list.
3 stars only because the ios version deserves 5
This is my first time ever to review an app, but this is such a rip of, I had to. My friend has this app on iPhone and she thought it is great. She suggested that I would get it as I am dyslexia and it would really benefit me with college. From the day I downloaded this app, it never worked right but now it won't even let me into the pdf files that I have already downloaded onto this app. I am waiting for months for this app to improve and it still hasn't. I am very disappointed with this app for €11
I'm sad to see the Android version of Voice Dream, I was having the one for iPhone and I have to say it was my absolute favorite app of all, with great service, settings and options and so I was even willing to accept, but not happy about it, to pay almost the double of what I paid for the one of iPhone ...only to find myself with a much less developed Beta version of it. What happened, guys?! Please update this app to its real capacity, I was really a fan of it, don't make me regret my purchase.
Could not open anything to read in this application on my smartphone, I contacted customer service 3 times and they either did not respond or they were very unhelpful. I managed to open a pdf, after having to download yet another app for it to work, but that stopped working (app says unable to read).
Saving time and money don't trade your time for money get what need from readable content n move on to the next best thing quickly!!
I tell everybody about the iOS apps - both the voice dream reader and voice dream writer. After getting an Android phone this really was the first thing I downloaded. I would suggest Winston the developer could stop asking people to remove the negative reviews here and spend that time improving this app. I have tested EVERY text to speech app in android and I am sure a Voice Dream Reader Android app that worked like his iOS would be a best seller. Come on man! Stop whining and rise to the challenge!!! X :-)
Loved the app!! It's transformed my reading enjoyment, improved my reading (even had carryover into my reading when not using the app), massively improved my reading speed and coming out on Android has been a really blessing. Although android need to fix a few bugs (crashes when changing the reading speed).
I have to read a lot of PDFs and this app is saving my eyes and my brain! My only problem is that it won't read the last paragraph of the PDFs or sometimes the last page. Not a huge problem because I am capable of reading it myself, but it would be nice to be able to have it read the whole text.
Give me my money back! This app is not reliable and it crashes way too much and doesn't read your pdf files properly and skips and glitches out on you. I paid 13$ for this crap and it's not even worth 99 cents.
this product is unstable on larger files. The developer has no time to fix bugs. I understand how life gets busy, but when I have to purchase the software once for iPhone and once for Android and the Android version won't be fixed, A REFUND is in order.
Please use images and descriptions and info on books that are now available in Bookshare books after a week I had so many bugs I had to stop using it. The program has so much promise that I don't mind paying for it in hopes that they will improve and update it.
I have this on my iPad and I love it so I thought I would buy it for my phone. I really regretting that. For an app that costs as much as it does it doesn't even begin to work right. It doesn't read at all for me. I hit play and it just rapidly scrolls through the doc. Very disappointed
The iOS version of this app is an absolute gem. I didn't think twice about buying this again for Android to encourage and support the developers to stick with us. Android DESPERATELY needs a quality text-to-speech reading app. I have complete faith that this is the app to do it!
Not great, not bad. It doesn't understand abbreviation and it cannot ignore foot notes. The foot notes are the name of the chapter and the page numbers and it's very annoying
It would be better if you had it open in share or "open with" section. It often freezes when opening URL. I like the dyslexia font.
Going to give this app 4 stars because in most respects this is a great piece of software and truly helps me power through books quickly and with high comprehension and retention. And I know good reviews will help others discover Voice Dream. In general, it is worth the investment. But I will warn users on Android that at this point Voice Dream isn't as stable as it is on iOS. In fact, it has crashed a number of times, losing extensive notes and highlights within books (both times PDFs). This is in my opinion the best reading app available on Android, but this crashing (with complete loss of notes and highlights in the books that initiated the crash!) is really frustrating. Be careful, folks, until they get this worked out. You may stand to lose hours and hours of work. Until they address it I'll have to stick with the iOS version. (I'm fortunate in having access through work to both platforms. I'm sure most don't have that luxury.)
I have the ios version and it's fantastic, but the Android version is full of bugs and has very limited functionality. For instance, you have way more voice options to download on the ios version. Please bring this app up to par with the ios version asap.
Do you have a timeline for bringing your Android app up to par with your excellent iOS app? Does the app even read webpages inside its own browser??? Looks like no. J'adore la version iOS où je donnerais 5 étoiles, mais je n'ai pas réussi à l'utiliser convenablement sur Android. Zéro.
Don't brother to purchase this app. The developer simply don't value their android customer. The save from Web page function still not working.
Really needs the prenunciation dictionary feature like the ios Version that said it is unsurpassed on android and can only compete with itself
It's the best app Tts I ever have
Great tts.... used on iPhone glad to see it for Android....
The bug that changes voice speed with zoom in PDF is still there, report sendt by e-mail; it may help if many reports the same bug. Limited features: Only plain text except PDF view, i.e. no pictures or text as bold or italic from ePub books. Text, highlighting and start, juxtaposed and limited with external voices. Missing for PDF, textreflow that reconnect real word between lines, e.g. with iPad version I use Regex to remove two versions of soft-hyphen before pronunciation.
iOS App is awesome, Android version not so much
Sure a big part of the price goes to the company which supplies the high quality TTS. Sure this app has the monopoly of book reading software in Android. BUT, the instability of this app just makes me really wonder if this company really is capable of making an Android app. Sorry for my critique, I don't wanna be mean or anything, but your app is pricey so I think I'm entitled to have some words. I hope the app can be better.
The maximum speed with which it reads is less than half of what it is on ios. This app is funtionally useless, since the main reason I used it was for fast reading when I'm on the go. Now it's faster for me to read it by myself without this app. SAVE YOUR MONEY!
Dont pay for it. There are some fre apps that are much better!
Reads text (I use PDFs) great and with the "Sharon" voice it's almost like an audiobook reader. There is no better tool on Android. My ONLY complaint is it's not as feature rich as the IOS version. I can understand as it's recently added but as someone that recently switched from IOS to android I really miss those features. Specially the ability to text replace (such as read AL as "alignment"). 5 stars once it has the IOS features.
