Boy, this app sure does bring back memories. I read all these books back when I was a kid and am delighted to enjoy them again in this modern format. "House of Hell" was definitely a classic, and very difficult. Looking forward to "Deathtrap Dungeon" and others and would love to see the Lone Wolf series from these guys. Well worth the money. Brilliant implementation. Thank you!

This was the book I read as a child, fell asleep, dreamt about the room of darkness with flying head coming screaming at me... ran to parents room crying. The main story still creeps me out, because I have over active imagination.

I personally didn't enjoy it but I can see how some people love it, if it's your personal style. I agree with other reviewers who said the game is unbalanced. If you roll a certain amount of fear or less at the start of the game, there is literally no possible path through the game where you don't die. The fact that you can be doomed from the start without even having played for a second doesn't sit right with me. It's less about making educated and logical decisions and rather, finding the one path through the game that works, which is tedious and detracts from the story.

You need to add more of the old books like Demons of the Deep and Freeway Fighter.

PSA: The intro has lots of flashing "lightning" strobe effects, for those who may be sensitive to flashing lights. You can really see how Tin Man has evolved from their first releases by looking at this gamebook. While the story itself wasnt one of my favs back in the day and still isnt, it has been beautifully rendered into electronic format.

I've been waiting for the FF books I so enjoyed when I was young to make it to an electronic form. This is an amazing port of the book sticking to the original material and allowing the option to experience improvements or not.

N70%
by N####:

Basically, in an attempt to avoid spoilers, practically every decision ends in death, and it gets to the point where there's really only 1 or 2 ways to beat the story which leaves you having to memorize the correct path each time. Some paths have 2 or 3 choices yet all end in game over, so entering that "door" or scenario is pointless because all roads lead to defeat. This to me ruins the replay-ability. Overall a decent FF port. Good music and story really shine here.

This is the third Fighting Fantasy adaptation that I have purchased from Tin Man Games. If you keep making them, I'll keep buying them. I'll also check out some of your non - Fighting Fantasy gamebooks, too.

Citadel of choas was my first . This seems like one of the tricky ones because I keep dying roundabout the same place all the time after the dogs . All in all great music great book look forward to more .

I like the game a lot, but the fear mechanics are stupid. I mean, its a fear based game, yea, but the things you gain fear points from aren't even that mentally jarring. You practically gain fear points almost every scene, regardless of how frightening something like that actually would be.

A complete lack of any form of balance.. The story is good and and the music adds to the mood, but having several options in a row all leading to death no matter what option you choose is ridiculous. Would love to see a game like this where you can make logical decisions that actually affect the outcome.

Just as good as Forest of Doom. A delight for an old timer like me who remembers this from the first time around.

U70%
by U####:

Art music story all awesome, but then u die for no reason. Like most of the FF games death seems totally random. You can win a hard fight, have the best gear and max luck stats, but still get game over by simply walking in the wrong door. While the easy mode let's u go back it's still not fair and ruins the experience.

I spent a lot of time playing these books in junior high but never have they come to life like this. The software adds another dimension and is very well executed. The fact that you can decide to play fair makes it all the better!

There us absolutely no way to reduce fear accumulation. The end result is always death in oy minutes. The game us render unstable and unenjoyable as a result.

This is somewhat similar to choose-your-own-adventure stories I read as a kid, but with many more dead ends. I would more equate it to a MAZE than to a puzzle. You have to get out a pen and paper and map out the game in order to navigate it. Quite fun. I originally gave this a horrible review, but I realize I've been playing it all wrong.
