About Gamebook Adventures 2: Siege of the Necromancer

Second in the series of critically acclaimed interactive fantasy gamebooks in which you, the reader, control the direction of the story! You do not need to have played any previous Gamebook Adventures titles in order to play this.

Set in the coastal town of Myr, you have returned home after a long Summer in the mines of Durath Tor to find your hometown besieged by strange creatures. A dark presence has taken over the town and you are the only one who can rid the stronghold of Erid Buul, the mysterious new Lord and his ghastly cohorts.

"The graphics are simply excellent, with selectable fonts and backgrounds available. The quality of the design is such that it’s easy to forget you’re holding a mere iPhone in your hands and not a real-live book." - TouchMyApps

"The quality of the writing here is superb. Like the first game the author manages to keep your interest held, with the vocabulary rich and the writing witty and descriptive, holding an element of tension throughout." - Games Uncovered

"...the host of smaller parts really make The Siege of the Necromancer shine in comparison to the increasing number of adaptations of the old books." - Know Your Mobile

What is a Gamebook Adventure?

Gamebook Adventures is brought together through the efforts of passionate and avid gamebook enthusiasts. If you are familiar with the Fighting Fantasy, Sorcery, Lone Wolf or Grail Quest series then Gamebook Adventures will really appeal to you. Our aim is to give those nostalgic readers of old something new and fresh, and bring a new exciting experience to those unfamiliar with gamebooks. If you enjoy fantasy RPGs or adventure games then this is for you!

At their core, all of our gamebooks are compelling adventure stories where you get to choose how the adventure unfolds. Every section of the narrative concludes with choices that you have to make. The choices you make will alter the story, taking you down new paths and giving you new choices.

Occasionally you will be presented with a situation that needs to be resolved with some dice rolling. The gamebook engine lets you throw 3D physics based dice that roll and bounce as if you were tossing them on a tabletop. Roll the dice to resolve combat by pitting your character against a myriad of enemies. Roll the dice to see if you were able to leap the gaping chasm, or pick the shopkeep’s pockets. Roll the dice to see if you won a bet, or caught the plague!

Did you take a wrong turn? Or make some bad dice rolls? Then hopefully you put in a bookmark so that you can go back and try again!

So far so good. Blood of the he zombies is my favorite so far. A must have..

good story but hate dice rolling combat

T70%

Writing is on par with the others but there are too many dead ends that come from picking the wrong random choice half the book ago. That would be OK if it telegraphed consequences better but often it's just pick one of 4 doors, you pick wrong you die, in 20 pages time.

T70%

I like the concept of a story unfolding differently depending on the choices you make, but the story doesn't last very long.

I hate the orgon. That is all.

Y70%

The first 2 GAs i read (1 and 8) were quite easy to finish,Ii couldn't find any dead ends other than your vitality getting too low and the fights were quite easy as you were more powerful than most of your opponents. This 1 however is different, just like the old ffs, little story other than seek and kill the necromancer in a dungeon. shorter paragraphs, with lots of twists and turns and some tricky fights, i've also found 2 dead ends so far, 1 from making a bad decision and one from failing a fitness check. a great challenge. this is probably my favorite so far.

Definitely not as good as the first. I found the choices to be fewer and with too many failed fitness checks resulting in instant death instead of damage. Still good but hope for more from #3

The first one was fabulous. Played this one a couple of times so far and it also seems excellent. I will purchase any other books by this dev, no question. Rare that an app has an average 5 star rating; trust that they are worth the $$!

I grew up on these type of books. And since I can't seem to find anyone to play D&D with, this is a great substitute. So glad these finally came to Android. I've been tracking the progress. This is my second one to buy. Wish they would give discounts or something.
