About Reiner Knizia Tigris&Euphrates

Tigris & Euphrates is set in the ancient fertile crescent with players building civilizations through tile placement.

★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★

In fertile Mesopotamia between the Tigris and Euphrates rivers, lies the cradle of civilization.

Your goal is to develop all 4 of the key spheres of civilization: Settlements, Temples, Farms, and Markets. To do this, you will position your leaders, create and extend kingdoms, build monuments, and resolve conflicts. Tension arises when kingdoms connect and leaders clash on the board, with only one leader of each type surviving. You will thus aquire victory points in each of the four spheres. The winner is the player who develops their civilization in the most balanced way, without revealing a sphere of weakness.

With no setup time required, no pieces to lose, and no arguments about the rules, the future of board games is here and Tigris & Euphrates gives you exactly what you want -- to play!

How to play:

During their turn, the active player may carry out up to two of the following actions, in any order:

- Position (place, move or remove) a leader.
- Place a tile and earn a victory point.
- Place a catastrophe tile.
- Swap up to 6 tiles

The active player may choose two different actions, or the same action twice.

One star taken off for the direct port, but that's totally understandable given the nature of the app. It's well done, the AI does a pretty good job, and it runs great on the variety of devices I have tried it on. Hope more boardgames come to the android side of things like this. Very well done.

X70%
by X####:

Crashes too often. Couldnt finish a single game in hot seat and can't resume. Will increase rate in next update if fixed. Other then that awesome game! Edit months later dev still not touched the release. Last time I give them money

M70%
by M####:

The implementation is pretty good: I've only had one stability issue. No online multiplayer yet, but that's not a crucial feature. The game itself is engaging, the interface doesn't get in my way, and the tutorial was pretty helpful, although it requires a play or two before the strategy really sinks in.

S70%
by S####:

I've never played the board game, but this app is very good. AI is strong, definitely will challenge you every game, especially with 3+ players. Every move (almost) has an undo option, which is very handy. Graphics are crisp and clear on my Droid.

K70%
by K####:

Highly disappointing iPhone aspect ratio. Cheap port. Unnecessary use of invasive permissions. If the game updates to support proper screen sizes for Android then it might be worth checking out. Hopefully it'll update to add online multiplayer with the new Games service too.

New to Euro games and really enjoying it. That being said, this kind of burns batteries, had frozen on me a few times, and has some other minor user interface issues. Not a deal breaker, but I wish it was a little more polished.

R70%
by R####:

Nicely designed - no annoying features found in game play. Would be nice to have the advanced rules, but I appreciate the AI would be hard to program. AI is easy to beat as it is. Still forces me to think though.

R70%
by R####:

Far too often have turn based and board games been trialled on the latest gadgets and far too often do they fall short of basic expectations. This does not. Great work. I'll be following your work from now on, guys. Awesome.

R70%
by R####:

I have never played this game before but the tutorial game and in-game rules have made it easy to learn. What a great game! This developer makes other board games on iOS and they all look great. I hope this is a sign of more to come!

by Y####:

At least Android start to receive more modern boardgames. One problem is that in my phone, Ihave 135MB free storage space, but I cannot install the app it tells me insuficient storage space...any solutions?

I70%
by I####:

Not sure there's much of a difference between the levels of AI difficulty, but otherwise love the game. Only negative about the game is that the beginning is always the same, so it's pretty predictable. Difficult to win if you don't follow the pattern.

Z70%
by Z####:

I've been waiting for this modern classic to make its way to Android for months now. So far so good. + I like that it has adjustable AI. + The graphics aren't anything special, but they're functional. + User interface works just fine, though I think some of the "proceed" and "cancel" squares could be a little more pronounced. + They make great use of the phone vs the tablet layout and UI. Overall, this feels very polished, and once cross-platform multi-player gets put in, this will be an even stronger app. As it is now, I'm quite content with the AI and pass-and-play options.

G70%
by G####:

Good implementation for the most part. It's been a while since I played the actual game, so I wanted to use the tutorial. Unfortunately, starting the tutorial causes the app to crash and won't recover without a manual FC or rebooting the device.

R70%
by R####:

A game against the AI takes about 10-12 minutes to play which is ideal. (Just a shame it doesn't keep track of any statistics so I could tell if my game is improving.

R70%
by R####:

I like this game, a little hard to learn but has a nice tutorial. Now if only I did not get crushed every game. A.I. plays for keeps, as in keeps killing me.

R70%
by R####:

I played back and forth between the tutorial game and a real game to figure out the strategy. Fantastic game design, each game is different and victory is never certain! Great fun to play!

U70%
by U####:

Game doesn't work unless you have WiFi or data. Great game but terrible idea for software.

J70%
by J####:

Pretty good game play, converted eurogame. I can see how the board game version might involve a lot of tedious card counting, and some of the rules are complex to remember. Plays more like chess than most eurogames, but still has a little uncertainty with 3 or more players. I still can't beat the computer even on the lowest level.

R70%
by R####:

Great adaptation of the board game. Lacking the multiplayer functions of the iOS version. Occasionally puts ads up for the other games by the publisher in the way of the app I bought. What the eff!?!?

I70%
by I####:

Terrific implementation of one of the top ten board games of all time! AI is challenging. It started crashing every time on my Nexus 10, but reinstalling fixed it.

M70%
by M####:

Periodically needs to check for licence online after phone updates, so not a fully offline game. Don't penalise paying customers with license checks, this overbearing anti theft behavior ironically only makes me better off downloading a cracked version without the check and not paying you anything. Please support not hinder paid users. Otherwise fantastic game. Thanks

R70%
by R####:

The AI feels cheap in game. They always have one more type of the tile than I do. The opponents team up against me even if I am clearly in last place. The implementation is good... But the AI issue is a problem for me. It may not cheat but feels like it is.

G70%
by G####:

I can destroy the AI even on maximum level so it gets a bit boring after a while and I encountered a couple crashes today. Would love a better AI.

I70%
by I####:

Tutorial is a big plus. Game flows smoothly, crash once but can still resume game. Bots are rather dumb, even on hardest difficulty. And please add online play

Z70%
by Z####:

Fun game. Would prefer to be able to disable the "are you sure?" dialogs, which get annoying, as well as the help messages that seem to keep coming up. But otherwise a good game.

R70%
by R####:

I never tried the boardgame but I am very impressed by the design. I have played the heck out of it. The visual style is clear and enables the game to be played and enjoyed. What about implementing some of the alternative play modes?

A70%
by A####:

Excellent implementation of the classic board game, but is lacking in support. Temple building on the 4x river location causes a corrupted file. AI can build there, player cannot. Ziggurat expansion, alternate board, monuments, etc would be excellent additions. Note II

X70%
by X####:

Of course this remains one of the most awesome board game mechanisms. But the UI is often confusing. The AI is very simple, not providing much surprises (I. E. In conflicts). The game is lost if you close the application. Would be nice to restore it. There is no multi-player which could be cool.

O70%
by O####:

Lacks play over Internet and could better highlight some things, but it's a fantastic interface with good AI. Would recommend. A steal at twice the price.

X70%
by X####:

The game is good. However, constantly requires an Internet connection to validate license and does not run without it. When in a plane that's really annoying. Fix it!

T70%
by T####:

Nothing too fancy but does the job of bringing the rich deep strategy of this knizia classic to my Nexus 10.

T70%
by T####:

1) playing against human opponents relies on rotating the screen... But the screen auto rotates even when you have screen lock meaning you have to play upside down! 2) the game has no "hand to your opponent" screen for hiding your/their tiles from you/them AND THAT IS A BIG DEAL IN A CLOSED HAND GAME! 3) interface is cluttered and visually rather old fashioned . 5) too many messages need switching off. I dont need all those messages, save them for the tutorial. 4) all in all rather a clumsy app which, though perfectly playable solo, feels rushed and in need of refinement. Great game, poor interpretation.

T70%
by T####:

Its a great game but after a while it becomes so easy and predictable.

I used this to learn to play the board game better. It made learning the rules easy and is a well done board game done on android.

C70%

Great game but wont even load my nexus 10! Edit: customer service no help as of yet... Edit.. weeks later and still no help from the dev.

Great implementation of T&E. The interface is well-designed, the artwork is beautiful, and the soundtrack matches well the era of the theme of this game. Sadly it appears Codito is getting out of game dev for a while.... so not only will this not get updated but neither will their iOS games. So take it for what it is and hope for the future!

C70%
by C####:

It's a great app for learning T&E strategy. Only local play against bots is available but you probably learn better than paying against other ppl anyway.

C70%

Saw this app whilst browsing and bought it on impulse having played the board game Carcassonne for many years. And it's a fab little app. Once you master the basics, games are quick but always a challenge. And it is infinitely replayable. The only reason I can't give 5 stars is that the high scores function is broken. It works ok in a session, but exit the game and scores are zeroised when next playing. And not sure what the arrows at the top of the score screen do. But for pure gameplay it's 5 stars all the way.

Great port of board game to Android! Works great, plays great! Buy this app and support the dev so they will be able to port more great board games to Android platform!!!
