Dark Parables: Briar (Full)

The story is good, but the game mechanics let it down. The hidden object games crash if zoomed, and there are times that the touch detection just doesn't work or some objects can only be selected after others which makes little sense. It would also be nice if the difficulty selection from The Snow Queen was brought into this game. Having said all that, I am enjoying the story itself and love the environments and other mini games.

I like the way they've mixed it up so its not all hidden object. The storyline kept my attention so much that I am looking forward to the next game in this series. Well worth the purchase.

Not my favourite of the dark parables but still relatively enjoyable. If you can update it to the map jump feature that'd be great also not a fan of the hints. Stories ok but it's a little slow.

Great game. Very difficult to drop an item on the hint button, as item seems to end up above where it should be, is the only drawback.

The music is somber the lighting is dim, the game play is very straight forward not much to decipher, and no map to travel so a lot of back and forth.

Great storyline. I enjoyed the story of Sleeping Beauty as a child and I really enjoy this game. It makes you think and really search for parts of things you need to use. Excellent twist to the children's story.

Excellant game, although a map would have been a good feature. The bonus adventure was a huge disappointment, it was 5 minutes and had no story or point to it.

This game worked fine and no crashes. Bit less interesting finding pieces of objects instead of individual items but its ok.

I played this on the PC originally a year or two back, it's got plenty of fragmented HOS and morphing objects to keep your eyes out for and a good storyline. Recommended.

I like the game, fun and challenging but HOS THAT REQUIRE finding pieces of objects rarher than actual objects aren't very fun and often hard to see. Thereforev4cstars instead of 5. I really like big fish games. Empress gamesbhave still been my favorite by far for.story and game play...

Game played just fine, lots of objects to assemble out of hidden fragments, some tough but fair puzzles. Not much plot, so-so atmosphere and graphics. Adequate.

The hidden object scenes are a little too hard. Many times I find the object reference by accident. The puzzles are good , not too easy, not too hard.

I'm a fan of these types of games, which is why I found this one quite disappointing. First off, the graphics are pretty great, although I recommend bumping your screen contrast up a bit to fully enjoy them & no matter what tablet or phone you're using, it's a good idea to use the zoom function, particularly in the HOG's which are formulaic, too frequent & tedious. Many scenes only have one object or a repetitive puzzle to solve so seem wasted. You also end up wasting a good amount of gameplay time clicking on things that serve no purpose & when you do find an interactive object it is usually pretty shallow & barely serves to move the game or plot along. The plot itself is plodding & dull. There is no sense of adversary or challenge. The storyline & characters are pretty stale & one-dimensional. There is very little payoff to this or the bonus game. I will probably run through this game once more & then forget it. Overall a disappointing & forgettable experience. Unfortunate. Like I said, great graphics. The premise had potential, seems like a wasted opportunity.

Hidden objects are random pieces of all one thing. Not fun. The hint doesn't give you any help about you need to do next. Just not fun.

The only thing that I didn't care for was the hints. I love the hint due to it helps me get too my direction. Especially when there is nothing to indicate direction. Otherwise good game. Plays great on my Samsung Galaxy pro tablet 12.2.

OK, nice graphics but if I'm a detective let me actually find clues and, well, detect! Not find hidden pieces again and again... And again! Not the best game I've played from them.

I've liked other big fish games but for me this was boring. The 2 stars are for a couple of the mini games that were good altho after a while they were also repeated with a slightly different colour or symbol etc.

Not bad, but not great. Some puzzles made no sense, or hard to see/discern from surroundings. Not into the find pieces to make a whole nonsense. Lots of back & forth. Ending was lackluster. Bonus was even worse. Frog. Oceans. Where?? Very short & a bit boring. Not impressed.

I'd played the PC version of this game but not the collectors edition so when I saw the price I thought I'd give this version a go ! Glad I did not pay more. Briar is know here to be seen and game does not flow well. Hard to use zoom and a unhelpful hint system hindered play. A map telling me where to go would have helped to avoid pointless back tracking. My advice play the PC version instead as the story flows much better.

I really enjoy this game! People have complained about the setup for the hidden object scenes but I don't mind it. There isn't just one way to play through this game either, you can do things differently when/if you do it multiple times which gives you even more bang for your buck. The only thing I don't love is that sometimes the objects are very small and blend in but I find if I turn my screen brightness up a bit and zoom in it isn't so bad. I recommend playing with the sound on as well.

I've played The Snow Queen so this game is almost like the second version of it but may be more interesting.I like it!

PC and tablet both great games. Great way to relax. Nothing to hard or easy. Have played it many times.

Graphics could be better and the puzzles get repeated. Had to keep tapping at one spot for ages to select it. Quite boring. No interactive map that causes wasting time. The story was quite interesting.

It took me all of 2 hours to finish the game. There was no story, the HO scenes were just collecting pieces of one object, the final scene was easy to beat, the mini games were too easy, there were few areas, the art was childish, no characters. Basically a waste of money.

Mostly because it goes into one of my favorite fairy tales.

Love these games. Will get snow queen but any chance of frog prince, red riding hood & cinderella? As well as the newest one which I haven't played yet!

I've played this title on my old iPad, and I loved it then. I still like it now. I want them all on my computer one day. My only issue is I didn't see and cut scenes on my android tablet, kinda broke the immersion for me.

Nothing in particular terrible with it just didn't like the HOG setup... You have to piece together items. Also there was no map and the plot wasn't that exciting (I know it's a fairy tale but they managed to make others exciting...).. I mean compared to others.. I did get sucked in for a little while but not sure if I'd pay for a sequel.

I had a good time with this game .Had to work at getting through to the end . Had a hint button to tell you how to use an object, but made you work at solving the puzzel.Good game !

The Dark Parables series is beautiful and wonderfully challenging. The graphics and soundtrack are elegant. The HO scenes are unique and some pieces are VERY difficult to find. The puzzles will challenge you but fortunately there is an integrated strategy guide. The only thing missing is a map for the game.

I love these Dark Parables games. Please release the rest of them. I want them all. C'mon Big Fish. Quality games like this are rare and I know you have more of these tucked away. Gimme.

It was fun to play and pretty good visually, but I feel like unless you read the strategy guide you won't know where to go next.

Played the sample and I had to pay for the full version. It's that addictive.
