About Shikaku Ultimate

A colorful puzzle based on a classic japanese game.

The concept of this puzzle is extremely simple, but at the same time challenging.
Shikaku, also known as Rectangles, is a classic logic puzzle with japanese origin.

Classic Shikaku is played on a rectangular grid. Some of the squares in the grid are numbered. The objective is to divide the grid into rectangular and square pieces such that each piece contains exactly one number, and that number represents the area of the rectangle.

Here is an updated and evolved Ultimate version of the puzzle. Now rectangle cells are no longer limited to the numbers, they can contain different shapes which should be drawn on the grid.

We hope that you'll get as much pleasure from the game, as we did from its creation!

Also known as: Rectangles, Divide by Squares or Divide by Box

So far so good. Only been playing it for a few hours. Usually don't review a game this soon after playing it, but the "Leave a review" pop up was getting annoying. Gameplay is easy to operate and entertaining. Controls are easy. There is no tutorial, but it takes just a few seconds and a tablespoon of common sense (if you don't have that then you probably can't read this review) to figure out the concept. Starting off well, time will tell how the game does over a longer measurement period.

Finally reached the last level available yet I'm still satisfied as it is. It's getting harder slowly and the daily clue helps getting around the most tricky ones. Sometimes I would come back to a level after trying for hours and find the solution in a few seconds. Proves that you need to clear your mind in front of an issue sometimes to resolve it. I'll keep the game to recommend it to friends. Good job!

One of if not the best puzzle game I've ever played. It has all the good elements: endless time and tries— multiple solutions— clear instructions— not too challenging. I finished it without any hint because it's so much fun and relaxing I played them all levels in less than 2 hours. The levels are unique and the later ones got harder but not boring! Thank you for an amazing game. the best puzzle game ever!

It's different and gives me something to do when I'm bored. The levels get harder but it eases you into the hard ones so it doesn't seem too taxing. Overall, I really loved it and I beat the whole game. I just wish there were more than 200 levels. :)

Great puzzle game, really addictive. The graphics and colors are nice. I do wish there was an indicator in the square with the shape when that particular requirement is fulfilled (like in the leo del sol version- a personal fave). But that is a minor thing. Overall, great game! Definitely recommend!

You'll get addicted but not like other games. With puzzles you'll want to try them several times a day until you solve them. It takes a couple of seconds to load but once you pass that it goes nice and smooth.

Edited my review: fun game but it starts to get interesting only after around level 80. Up until then it is a kid's game. I understand that each game needs to ease people in but 80 is too far away.

R70%
by R####:

Exactly my type of game, almost perfectly executed. Two minor gripes: some used colors are almost indistinguishable from others, and it's 'only' 200 levels long :)

R70%
by R####:

The game is addictive even though the puzzles are rather easy. There are two minor annoyances for me, which are: 1 - the game crashes when ads pop up, which, thankfully, there aren't that many ads, and 2 - the game defaults to drawing rectangles when you are drawing regions, which can sometimes overwrite blocks. Other than those two things, this deserves 5 stars.

R70%
by R####:

It's to easy, I've made it through around 100 levels without so much as a second glance at the puzzles. It is to basic to be interesting and it's not nearly as fun as other versions of this. I don't recommend it

Wow. Best puzzle game ever. Played on the subway to pass time on the commute. Kept me intrigued all 200 levels and as it got harder, I had to learn with it, even missed my stop twice because I was so mesmerized! Thank you for such a great game. Hard to find a timeless and relaxing puzzle game that doesn't get repetitive.

The early levels are way too easy, the middle levels are a bit more challenging. Ad intrusion is problematic.

R70%
by R####:

This is a wonderful puzzle game. The pacing is great as new methods of solving the puzzle are introduced. Its pretty and has simple rules. Im tarely bogged down on the ads which is pretty great. I got so into the game i finished it!

Great way to challenge the brain. Only niggle is that the instructions as to what each shape can do could be a bit clearer eg the right angle can be two across and five up, the T shape could be two up, five across, then three up. Ie they don't have to be regular shapes.

Good game. Good for beginners, too, as it is kept simple for the first half levels. Had to edit my evaluation, though (5 stars to 4), because at the end game starts to crash and takes a long time to be "active". Found another shitaku game I liked better.

Really nice concept, I like how the new things are introduced one by one and the early levels helps to understand all those new things really easily. Also the music fits the gameplay perfectly! Keep doing the good work. ;)

This game is insanely addictive, don't be fooled by the shabby menu and icon graphics. The developers are not money grabbing either, which is a refreshing change, offering infinite goes and no time or money gating. The music is calming and yet extremely sad, and I like it for that. All in all a wonderful game!

R70%

I think this is a really interesting concept and I've enjoyed it so far. It's just that some of the controls are touchy and it can get annoying. Overall, it's really fun.

Please, more levels! The game is great, beautiful and clever. Create a random generator, please. It's much money for only 200 easy levels. Very expensive!

Q70%

Initially, this game came off as rather simple as it is quick to grasp, leading me to believe I would get bored of it soon. But as i played the later levels, new shapes and board sizes are introduced slowly, leading to very challenging puzzles that can take quite a few minutes to solve. To anyone playing this, put in the time to get past the first 40ish levels, and you be rewarded with a good challenge.

I normally don't rate games, and I dislike being asked to, but this game is fantastic. It is the ideal mix of hard and relaxing, it gives you enough hints to finish the game and is very good looking. Never found so much fun in a casual game to pass time.

Great shikaku puzzles. Many are genuinely tricky! The hint system is not especially helpful, so frustration may lead to purchasing help.

M70%

Really neat game, though the visual design of the interface is a little clunky and the ads can be invasive

F70%

Took a long time to beat. I'm so happy I found it. No bugs, solid concept.

It was fun! Gradual difficulty and simple introduction levels for new pieces. Enjoyed it a lot.

funny, adictive, not so easy as it seems, just finished it!

M70%
by M####:

There really isn't a puzzle aspect to this game. Each "puzzle" can be solved pretty much by just swiping randomly

M70%
by M####:

This puzzle game is both relaxing and challenging. I really like it. But it should come with instructions or a tutorial at the beginning.

M70%

Difficulty is basically nothing

M70%

Slightly strange UI that could do with more polishing, but the game itself is stimulating and calming at the same time, the perfect combo!

Most other mobile games leave me bored after finishing two thirds of the levels. Thankfully this isn't one of those games. It has a wonderful difficulty level which isn't too hard and isn't too easy. You won't spend too much time on a puzzle, and while there are a few that you can rush through, they aren't very common. They introduce new mechanics very often to keep things interesting, and they're very straightforward and easy to understand. The hint system was a bit weak, but was enough to get by.

Y70%
by Y####:

Short games for when you just have a minute to play; ads are acceptable because they don't pop up after every level. Only downside is that after 80 games, they are only just beginning to be of 'medium' difficulty. I would prefer it if it ramped up faster, or if you could choose your level.

B70%
by B####:

Nice colourful little game, great for the casual gamer who needs to kill a bit of time. I've never seen this style of puzzler before. It is a bit more on the easy side, however, is very intuitive. My only issue (very minor) having played the first 40 levels is (a) there could be a more pronounced or obvious "success" visual cue. At times I thought I hadn't finished. (b) When dragging colours out to fill other squares, the default behaviour is to create rectangles and this overwrites neighbouring blocks

E70%
by E####:

I love this game. It's one of those that makes something wonderfully complicated out of deceptively simple pieces. However, I really dislike games that interrupt gameplay with fullscreen ads. I understand you want to make money, but you've taken it too far.

Like a geometric sudoku. This gradually increases difficulty without suddenly affecting game enjoyment. First few rounds are easy but intended as tutorials, from then on you are on your own. Most early and intermediate levels have multiple solutions, so there is low frustration, but still a challenge in later levels.

M70%
by M####:

Gets harder fairly quickly, great idea and easy to use. Only criticism is sometimes the colours are very similar so it's hard to see where you are. Minor gripe though, this is great, get it!
