About Congresswolf

Is the next member of Congress a werewolf? Can you survive a lycanthrope's bite? There’s no silver bullet for winning an election!

"Congresswolf" is an interactive novel by Ellen Cooper, where your choices control the story. It's entirely text-based--140,000 words, without graphics or sound effects--and fueled by the vast, unstoppable power of your imagination.

"Democracy must be something more than two wolves and a sheep voting on what to have for dinner." -- James Bovard

When a werewolf murders your boss, you must step up to run a Congressional campaign all on your own. While werewolves, protestors, and worse--the media--lurk around every corner, you'll use everything you can to get your candidate elected.

Email servers? Tax returns? Who cares. Election-season secrets and October surprises are nothing compared to the possibility that your candidate might be a werewolf...or that you might become one yourself.

• Play as any gender, play as gay or straight
• Set the right tone with your TV ads
• Prep your candidate for debates
• Impress big donors
• Get out the vote

• Decide where your candidate will stand on werewolf rights

Great game but it's glitched! I love the story, the syntax, diction and grammar are all fantastic. However, there is a particular bug that makes playing through impossible for me. When it's time to review Ashgrove's budget, I cant continue. I don't want to change his budget at all but I dont have that option. Even after cancelling everything I still can't continue.

This is a campaign manager simulator, really good and a nice plot. It has been difficult and stressful, but we managed to win the election. I truly enjoyed it. And having a relationship with a "werewolf" has been exciting.

While I detest the policy of a first few free chapters filled with ads, to then have to pay for the rest. I find that what I dislike even more is paying for something with no idea of whether it's any good or not. I can say that I don't regret my purchase at all. Initially, I found the ending unsatisfying, like there were too many loose ends left untied, but going back to find that a few alternate choices brought me to a much more satisfying conclusion was definitely redeeming. It's a little heavy handed with the choices you're presented. It feels like a very aggressive correlation between other civil rights fights, thus you either agree with their stance or you're a bigot. It makes it feel like much less of a choice unless you're determined to play that particular path. At least that's the way it felt for me All in all it's an excellent story with a great amount of replay value. I'm likely to replay it several more times.

This is brilliant. It's engaging, the writing is really clear, you get a good sense of what your choices will do, it's fun, it's replayable, it's clever-- really recommend.

I loved it, right off. Good writing, I liked the whole "werewolf rights" idea. BUT... I finished chapter 2. Turned to the stalker, and... need to pay $3.99 for a game I barely got to play and experience enough to know if I WANT to pay. Pretty much all of your other free games you alternative options - waiting, sometimes. But not this. Sad, though, I really liked this from the first impession you gave me. I would definitely suggest to friends... if not for the that I have to pay so soon, or at all. :

I've loved all the games so far from you and was even more excited for this one! Until I read a line about the Congressman/woman's romantic partner. I thought he/she (depending who your playing) would be one of the relationship options? It sort of made it seem like that was possible, and would be a great addition if you ever updated it, please consider! Plus, checkpoints! A chapter index for easy replaying!

The story is captivating and one I've never indulged before. But sadly there is no free option. Period. Some of the games I've played from you have where you have to watch ads or wait a certain time period to play the next chapter. This one does not. You get 2 chapters and then you have to pay $4.00. I like the story. But don't know if I want to pay that from only 2 chapters.

As a customer who paid, there Only a few problems I see. The most important, is you cannot choose your gender. For all the names you input are preset as male, and all the options are female, I had a congressman called "Blaze". Please be aware of the problem. :)

The ideas behind the game are interesting, but the characters aren't as interesting as I thought they would be. A really well written story none the less, that kept me hooked, people should give it a try. But the one thing that got me was the price, I understand the hard work that went into it, but if it was abit cheaper, I think more people would consider purchasing it.

Great writing, and an interesting story with impactful decisions. It really felt like I was spending 16 hour days managing a campaign... in a good way! I also enjoyed having to balance the budget each month, as it added a nice strategy component to the game. Would definitely recommend.

T70%

Ooh that nasty cliffhanger though... Regardless, the build up to the end of the trial has been extremely boring. This is mostly because i am not fond of politics, and partially because the story is as dry as a biscuit. Wont be buying it, and would not like to read again.

I enjoyed this one a lot. Plenty of stats and options to make your choices feel significant. More werewolf games please!

T70%

Kinda disappointed of how the game turns out. Dunno if i got the worst ending but it ends with bunch of mysteries unsolved, and it is pretty much like another story of a guy doing his average job, after all

T70%
by T####:

Um, no. Felt forced to "be correct" about werewolf rights. Werewolves are just like gay people! GET IT?! Except werewolves eat people if the moon is full... just like gay people? Or are you saying that homosexuality is a violent myth from the Dark Ages? LOL And omg they're not even "born that way" (per the game) they are literally infected by hairy moon monster attacks... just like queer people? LOL

I didn't think I would like it at all but when I actually gave it a shot it was great. One of my favorites good job!

Loved it. I went for second base with abby but she broke it off so i was kinda disappointed but overall a great game. I love the strategy aspect of it

Great story, definitely a favorite, though more of a game than a story I couldn't change it if I wanted too. Though i'd love to see the same author in possibly a more fantasy work if it could be helped. Definitely favoriting this one for specs, really good work. Keep it up

This interactive novel is heavily politically biased, come on COG at the least you could include one positive Conservative/Republican candidate instead of having both be evil.

T70%

Why is the gender of the candidate based on the party they belong to? That is so sexist.

W70%
by W####:

Lots of erors such as my partys leader who is a male has a spouse who is a male himself and then there is a women who has a spouse who is a women WHAT IS THIS A WORLD OF GAAS

Worth the money, and very immersive. The ending felt a little optionless, but otherwise - a great game. Must buy.

Story is brilliant

T70%

The story and writing are good, but I do have a few complaints. There is too much "telling" of what happened as opposed to showing it and practically none of the characters are described physically. There also seems to be a bug concerning Jude: they showed up in the end even though I had never met them.

I loved it. The story is gripping and interesting, the characters are great and the wide range of choices are amazing.

I'm an avid CoG player and I adore this game. I had to replay it five times before getting a different ending! I still haven't gone with the other two romantic interest, either, so I'll be replaying it another five times at least! This is the most I've replayed a game, and I am so happy with it. I do wish there was a save/checkpoint button for faster replays, but by now I have my answers memorized. I hope to see more from this author and from CoG!

The multiple storylines were well handled, although Jonas' end seemed to be poorly integrated into the post scene. I enjoyed managing the budget and anything I win in a landslide, I felt good about it. It didn't hold your hand and was a bit of a challenge. This is a pretty apt game considering the current election, but unlike the real election, I didn't want this one to be over.

T70%
by T####:

Good story though towards the end it doesn't matter who you're with romantically it defaults to Abby and that's that. Disappointing but a really good story

T70%
by T####:

I think I enjoyed the political aspect more than the werewolf aspect. Seemed a bit short.

T70%
by T####:

This was a pretty good game; the writing was decent, the length was about middle of the road, but it wasn't all that memorable. The biggest flaw for me personally, was the fact that I felt disconnected from the Player Character. The storyline feels about like a CYOA of 'The Campaign' or the 2016 Election. As for the writing, the game was very well written and had a nice flow to the overall story. Was this the best COG/HG? No, however it is easily in the top third of games and I would recommend it.

This game kneecapped me, punched me in the throat, and then stabbed me in the heart. I was stressed abt this game even when I wasn't playing it. Would recommend.
