Defend Napoleon's heir in this steampunk alternate history game of political maneuvering, airship adventure, and romantic intrigue! Will you bring liberty to France, or plunge Europe into bloody war?

"The Eagle's Heir" is a 200,000 word interactive novel by Amy Griswold and Jo Graham. It's entirely text-based, without graphics, or sound effects, and fueled by the vast, unstoppable power of your imagination.

Since Napoleon won the Battle of Waterloo in 1815, seventeen years ago, Europe has enjoyed an uneasy peace. While the great empires of Austria, Russia and England have tried to stem the tide of revolution, France has mastered steam power to conquer the air and sea. Now, Napoleon’s health is failing, and France is torn between his legitimate heir, Franz, and his illegitimate son Alexandre.

Luckily, Alexandre has you, his loyal bodyguard and childhood companion, skilled in the arts of the duel and the ballroom, and ready for anything from diplomacy to airship combat!

It's brother against brother as you choose who will rule France, and how. Will France have a king, an emperor, or become a republic? Can you guide your lifelong friend Alexandre to the throne, and keep not just your prince but his revolutionary ideals alive? Or will you throw your weight behind his half-brother Franz? Will you defeat France’s enemies with the thunder of airship guns or forge a marriage alliance in gaslit ballrooms?

• Play as male, female, genderfluid, or non-binary; gay, straight, or asexual
• Race airships across the English Channel
• Find romance with a journalist or a lady's maid, or ménage a trois at the Tuileries Palace
• Join a motley crew of actors in the revolutionary cause, or spy on them for your allies
• Duel aristocrats to preserve your and Alexandre's honor
• Plan a scandalous elopement which sends Europe into an uproar

When swords cross before the throne, who will be the Eagle's Heir?

Lots of gender options that actually come into play in the story. First bit is free but there is a pay wall - which I find to be worth it. I played through multiple routes and spent hours on it overall. Some might say the price is steep but it's cheaper than a movie and I got more hours out of it! Overall the writing is very good and the free trial should give you an idea of how much you'd be into buying it.

Loved the writing & setting but the gameplay was very frustrating. I seemed to fail at every interesting choice regardless of my skills & then just died at the end. Unfortunately too late for a refund.

It costs money it got my hopes up with this trial

Honestly one of the best one-off stories I've read from you guys I loved the story, the characters, the choices, just everything about this... my only gripe is that it really left me wanting so much more. If it's possible, maybe a sequel could be written? One that takes place during or after the 5 years before the epilogue? Or maybe with Alexandre's possible child as the MC a few years later?

Tad short for its price. Although the fact that I can choose to be dainty woman wearing trousers instead of frilly skirts is a high plus (because bodyguard and practicality). There were also a few minor bugs and/or slight discrepancy but nothing glaring. Pretty sure those bugs are being worked on already (it's in their forums). TL;DR: You should try it.

I really enjoyed how gender was utilized in this one! Instead of ignoring it like other hosted games, it changed more dialogue than just that of clothes. You even very to discuss it a bit with other characters. Ending is a little unsatisfying in how little info we get on our character, but tons on the political climate and Alexandre. It makes sense but it's still a bit disappointing.

I once made a vow to myself that I will never install these apps as devices are for entertainment and books are for reading. Glad I decided to try Zombie Exodus as it has lead me on to greater reads such as this, only past my test read but will invest in this asap. Keep up the good work guys, keep combining topics just becareful. Treyarch found that out the hard way.

I am not finished yet, but I love the story so far. Turns out that steampunk French AU with a lot of politics, intrigues, choices, and possibilities of transforming the future of nation from behind the curtain is exactly the kind of escape I needed. I bought the game, although did so on Steam, since I'm Russian and the game is cheaper for me there. If you liked the demo, I believe you won't regret buying full version.

Enjoyed the writing but like many i felt it was quite short for the price. Not many differences between the different storylines to feel like that made up for it's short length. I was also sad that the ending never really focused on the MC.

Good one

R70%

The story is disappointingly short. It feels like the steampunk aspects were just thrown in to make things interesting; doesn't integrate well. My romance with Alexandre disappeared randomly. Could have been buggy or just meaninglessly picky script.

Interesting but short, I feel like it was worth the money. Can help scratch a Dishonored itch on the bus.

Not worth the price. I've read a lot of Choice of Games and Hosted Games and this one is a disappointment.

I get excited to see what will probably be great but it cost money can't you add more ads and make it free?

Not at all satisfied with the length of the story for that price, will not be buying a game from you lot from now on, I've just been disappointed with the writing of previous games and now this? No. If only a refund was possible for all the games I've bought.

I70%
by I####:

I enjoyed the story but it felt far too short. The characters didn't seem well developed and although the start hooked me, the plot got boring as it went on. I miss Choice of Games previous, lengthy masterpieces. I've always been ok paying for these games but the 5.50AUD spent on this would've been better spent on something else. Disappointing...

X70%
by X####:

Interesting and with a lot of potential, but the ending felt far too abrupt and rushed, there should have been at least a couple more scenes. It's also fairly expensive, given how short the game is. Other than these two issues, the author's done a good job.

While I found the story extremely interesting and the writing fantastic it was a very short piece for the price it was given, if it were perhaps longer then I would indeed give this game a 5☆ review but the shortness of the story coupled with the payment just didn't add up. Though it had a very decent word count I feel it was oddly abrupt in its ending

G70%
by G####:

The story was very engrossing and the characters and relationships were incredibly interesting. It is short, but still one of the best Choice Of Games I've ever played. My props to the author.

I played the first three chapters to start off with and I didn't find it all that interesting. It has potential but it didn't enthrall me to pay for it

A really delightful alt-history romance! I only wish there were more of it. It definitely sucked me in--before I knew it I was facing down an Austrian airship's carronades over the English Channel. Will probably play through this again for a Republic ending

R70%
by R####:

I hate greedy aurthors who put a pay wall after few chapter, and i aint paying for such a small piece of work, fortunately there are other ways to get it for free and unlocked.

R70%

Top tier writing, choices seem to matter a lot, and things make sense mechanics wise.

H70%

Short and abrupt ending. But the mid story content is interesting and juicy

R70%

Good, but too short for the £3-£4 price point

Too short Kept asking for my "gender"
