About A Wise Use of Time

With the power to freeze time, you can ransack a casino, rescue a celebrity, or cheat death itself!

"A Wise Use of Time" is a thrilling 260,000-word interactive sci-fi novel by Jim Dattilo, author of "Zombie Exodus," winner of the 2011 XYZZY "Special Recognition" award for interactive fiction. Your choices control the story. It's entirely text-based--without graphics or sound effects--and fueled by the vast, unstoppable power of your imagination.

When you freeze time, no one can see you, hear you, or stop you, except, perhaps, a handful of mysterious time controllers like yourself. Every second you steal puts more stress on your body and mind.

Will you bring justice to the mobsters who run rampant in your city? Will you steal from them to provide for those in need? Will you share your power with friends and family? Will you destroy your own powers, or will your powers destroy you first?

• Play as male or female; gay, straight, or bisexual.
• Develop relationships with one of four main romantic options (or a secret one). Track your relationships and moral stats as they change.
• Level up your time-control powers, or nullify them to protect yourself and others.

Great writing and lots of different choices to choose from, i had fun and was bummed when it ended.

AMAZING

I thought it was gonna be like another story about someone suddenly got power to control time out of nowhere and we can do whatever we please. You proved me wrong. The story is surprisingly deep and moral choices are lurking everywhere. Good job to the author, you just made me addicted to this kind of games

F70%
by F####:

I enjoyed it greatly! It wasn't perfect, bit right now in my life it really gave me some good feelings. The writing was good, and kept me interested. My biggest complaint was the lack of alternate gender options.

A wise use of Time falls straight into the CoG-lite bracket, with the underperformance I should have expected by now from such games. A premise that just begs for an intricate, multi-plot choice system, is instead served with a beelined plot. Said plot is tepid, the choices amount to a different shade of the same outcome, and the surrounding characters have the flavour and depth of a sheet of cardboard. It might waste an hour, but is worth avoiding for CoG players after a title with substance and grit.

S70%
by S####:

Absolutely phenomenal. One of the best, most believable versions of time manipulation I've ever seen. The story is lengthy, the characters are interesting, and the plot has a few good twists and surprises, and the end is both satisfying and open-ended enough to allow for a sequel (though I don't think it needs one). I'm happy to say that it offers some very difficult choices, and on several occasions I found myself stopping and analyzing the options. Nicely done!

P70%

It was amazing so many options, twists, turns, even loops.

C70%
by C####:

Well, the game is great in the first reading, but it didn't engage me enough to make me replay, great plot and great redaction tho.

S70%

It's a choose your own adventure book and it's good

Can you romance Kyle?

S70%
by S####:

I have played through twice and enjoyed both times. Stakes were somewhat low, which was refreshing. No saving the world from ultimate evil. Maybe doesn't have the interesting stat choices of some Choice of Games offerings or quite the emotional wrenching of others. I would not consider this the best CoG but probably in top 10.

D70%
by D####:

This game was fairly entertaining and overall worth the small cost to purchase it. It is more limited in how many times you can replay though as the story didn't seem to be different enough to go more than 3 playthroughs. I love the concept of the story and it tells it well.

Barnabas is a jerk but I enjoyed finally ending him in my second playthrough....with my own two hands. >:) However I think you could make a great series of this, Time Patroller

S70%
by S####:

Samurai of Hyuga and Fatehaven are so much better, but it was a good read nonetheless. The most interesting part of the plot is the mysterious disappearance of her father, but it was only hinted at. Think I need to go through and make different choices so I can afford to hire the investigator.

S70%
by S####:

The characters are interesting, there are many strands of narrative to follow, and overall it was the best game I've played in quite a while. It's got huge replay value and is definitely worth the price of a coffee.

K70%
by K####:

I enjoy a good story and enjoy it I did. The story has you honestly thinking of your actions and what might happen. I would highly recommend this work to anyone who likes a good read.

P70%
by P####:

For me, this is the only thing from Choice of Games that is approaching the quality of Choice of Robots. The game has an interesting premise, is pretty well-written, and suitably long to really get going. Would recommend. Cons? Romances are pretty shallow, and the game's antagonist is severely underdeveloped, but still a fun experience.

F70%
by F####:

It's really long and interesting story. I finished game few times (twice reading every world, 2 or 3 times reading only new parts of story). The only thing, which I don't like is that some strategies are easier then other. [Minor spoiler:] You can lose and die, but it's making you replay the game on and on.

Y70%
by Y####:

This is easily one of my favorite "Choice of" games so far; the writing and stat system were both great, and I didn't notice any inconsistencies in the storytelling that sometimes happens in this genre of games.

K70%
by K####:

It was almost 5 stars but it wasn't long enough for me, it would be different if they were going to make a sequel to pick off where your own character left off but they're not going to

K70%
by K####:

used my power to mess with people, had a blast! keep up the great work

K70%
by K####:

Played only twice so far. It's pretty long and has some interesting possibilities. The plot is captivating.

J70%
by J####:

As ironic as it sounds, I have wasted a great deal of time on "A wise use of time". Better IMO than the hero-choice series. Hope this gets a sequel... I would buy that in a heart beat.

K70%
by K####:

Only game to make me play 10 times. And yes "make" as i seem to keep getting the same ending. It hurts everytime since at this point i put 20 hours into it. But dang is it good as i keep finding new ways to adjust my games story.

K70%
by K####:

Really enjoyed it, hope theres a sequel with the time travel possibility.

K70%
by K####:

Read this a couple times a while back and just gone for another today, absolutely awesome. Not sure how it would work since everyone would have different endings but this needs a second part! Feel I've only just got into my relationships and they need to go on further!

K70%
by K####:

But on the stats some charts are unlabelled.

K70%
by K####:

It's a really long ( not 10 hours long ) and detailed story, but I wonder if they make another because every ending ends up a cliffhanger, so if I could know if another would be released that'll be great.

K70%
by K####:

Great story, great possibilities, great choices, great app. Just like all of your apps. Keep it up!

E70%
by E####:

One of the better Choice of games, if not the best.

K70%
by K####:

Is there only two endings where you live as I have replayed this 5 times and only ever got the same two endings I have different choices.

X70%
by X####:

Worth the money. Reminds me of those old choose your own adventure books but much more ambitious in length and choices. Can't wait to try it again picking a different path.

K70%
by K####:

I did not think any game would beat Choice of Robots, (another game by this company that I strongly recommend) but I was wrong. Just in the first play through I was captured. I could not put it down and was entertain for hours. Well worth the purchase. Now, to play a second time.

K70%
by K####:

The best choose your own adventure book in a long time!! I even felt connected deeply to my character. It was captivating and longer than I expected it to be and it was just amazing. I hope to find more books like this one in the future. Until then, I will start reading it again.

Gripping from start to finish. Read like a superhero tale with everyday-life decisions and interactions. Looking forward to replaying it immediately.
