About Crete 1941

Conflicts: Crete 1941 is a turn based strategy game set on the Mediterranean Theater during the Second World War.

You are in command of the German forces taking part in an airborne invasion of Crete -- Operation Mercury -- the first mainly airborne invasion in military history. Thanks to their code breaking efforts British knew about the German airborne plan, but elite German paratroopers managed to capture the island in spite of the odds being against them.

FEATURES:

+ Historical accuracy: Campaign mirrors the historical setup.

+ Long-lasting: Thanks to in-built variation and the game's smart AI technology, each game provides a unique war gaming experience.

+ Competitive: Measure your strategy game skills against others fighting for the Hall of Fame top spots.

+ Supports casual play: Easy to pick up, leave off, continue later.

+ Good AI: Instead of just attacking on direct line towards the target, the AI opponent balances between strategic goals and smaller tasks like encircling nearby units.

+ Settings: Various options are available to alter the look of the gaming experience: Change difficulty level, hexagon size, Animation speed, choose icon set for units (NATO or REAL) and cities (Round, Shield, Square, block of hourses), decide what is drawn on the map, and much more.

+ Tablet friendly strategy game: Automatically scales the map for any physical screen size/resolution from small smartphones to HD tablets, while settings allow you to fine tune hexagon and font sizes.

+ Inexpensive: The classic strategy game campaign for a cup of coffee!

In order to be a victorious general, you must learn to coordinate your attacks in two ways. First, as adjacent units give support to an attacking unit, keep your units in groups in order to gain local superiority. Secondly, it is rarely the best idea to use brute force when it is possible to encircle the enemy and cut off its supply lines instead.

If you want to test this WWII strategy game, a free 15-turn version is also available from the app store.

Conflict-Series has offered highly rated Android-only strategy games since 2011. The campaigns are based on the time-tested gaming elements TBS (turn-based strategy) enthusiasts are familiar with from both the classic PC war games and legendary tabletop board games. I also want to thank the fans for all the well thought-out suggestions over the years which have allowed these campaigns to improve at a much higher rate than what any indie developer could dream of. if you have feedback about the Conflict-Series please use email, this way we can have a constructive back and forth conversion without all the limits of the store's comment system. In addition, because I have huge number of projects on multiple stores, it’s just not very sensible to spend handful of hours each day going through hundreds of pages spread all over the Internet to see if somebody has posted a question somewhere -- just send me an email and I will answer to it as soon as I'm online. Thanks for understanding!

While still better than 99.9% of the games out there, this is not Joni's best. The beginning is a nail biter: the arriving paratroops struggle in the face of overwhelming forces to expand their drop zones, to capture airfields, and to simply survive. Once the German forces build up, the rest of the game is a snooze: the player is simply pushing pieces around and making overwhelming attacks. Excellent beginning, but too much tedious mop up. I have to subtract a star from Joni's usual 5 stars.

Having read (and re-read) Beevor's book on Crete, I thoroughly enjoyed this game. It can be pretty frustrating in the early stages, when you have paratroops encircled and unable to reconstitute units, and (paradoxically) gets rather anticlimactic towards the end because by then you're just mopping up and you don't need 2/3 of your troops, but it's still a challenge. The only feature I'd like to see added is a "cancel last move" button because, especially on a phone, it's easy to tap the wrong unit.

Great game. Very challenging. Only thing I would like to see added is Partisan activity in captured territory forcing the Germans to commit forces to put uprisings down. This really happened.

Against the grain on this one. PATIENCE required early on. So outnumbered. Hang in there pays off. Must say unique campaign. Joni dosnt make easy games/ simulations. Guess a balanced game would be too easy.Excellent update
