About Lightbot Jr : Coding Puzzles

It's never too early to start programming! Lightbot Junior gets your little ones 'coding' within minutes! As featured in the New York Times [1], TechCrunch [2], and Forbes [3].

Lightbot Junior is specifically designed for ages 4-8, and is an easier version of the popular Lightbot: featuring a gentler learning curve and less complex puzzles. You can play as Boybot or Girlbot as you solve puzzles that use game mechanics that are rooted in Computer Science concepts.

Lightbot Junior lets players gain a practical understanding of basic concepts like writing instructions, debugging problems, simple procedures and loops, just by guiding a robot with commands to light up tiles and solve levels.

Teachers worldwide are choosing Lightbot first out of other games and software when introducing their students to programming.

Lightbot Junior features 42 levels and lets you play in English, French, Russian, Brazilian Portuguese, Spanish, Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese, Norwegian, Slovenian, Romanian, Indonesian, German, Polish, Danish, Croatian, Dutch, Slovak, Czech, Greek, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Malay, Thai, Hindi or Swedish! Just hit the associated flag icon on the main screen to select a language!

Lightbot JR now features multiple save slots and separate progress tracking for multiple players. Multiple players can advance at their own pace in their own save slot, and also compete on number of levels finished, number of stars collected and number of overall commands used to complete the game (Lower score=better)

My daughter really enjoys this game and I love how well it is preparing her brain for learning a programming language. I would have given it 5 stars if only it would save her progress across devices. Between my wife and I both having a tablet and a smart phone, plus my daughter using an old tablet, it would be nice if she could just play on whatever device is convenient, but it is really frustrating for her to have to complete the same levels over and over again.

I got quite excited about this and by 6 year old boy enjoyed it, but jou dont get much more for the paid version - it really needs more levels. It is a shame that users aren't given the opportunity to create their own levels.

This is a awesome game for my 5 years old kid. But as someone said already it's quite short ( it took just a three hours to finish the whole game to my kid ) and it would be nice to have a step by step or a slow down replay so the kid understand better the concept when replayed.

It's simple enough for my five year old and he's so proud of himself. He loves watching the little robot go the way he tells it to. I know this isn't "real" coding but it's prepping him to think properly to be able to code in a few years, after he's mastered reading and writing. Best of all (for me), the app didn't work n my tablet when I bought it so I wrote to the developer. I got a quick response that they were working on it and they kept me up to date as they fixed the problem. Their customer support is appreciated.

It's not coding as adults know it, but it transfers the exact meaning and logic needed for young minds to begin their journey; It will make future coding less abstract as well.

[1] Can anyone tell me how to solve the very last stage? It looks unsolvable. [2] It will be nice if we got a printable certificate when we solve the last stage.

4/5 year old loved it and finished it... we used it as a component of her computer science class... can't wait to start the full program! Thanks developers... This should be a part of every kids game rotation.

My 7 y.o. daughter and 5 y.o. son instantly fell in love with this "game." In so glad I got it for them.

My children, 4-8-year-old, get quickly absorbed in coding and I am so pleased they spend time on such a valuable thing.

Option to slow robot or step by step to see code working better....

My five year old likes this. The last level is a bit complicated but he manages it.

Z70%
by Z####:

It's good, simple puzzles for little ones. But seems to crash when you finish the game, rather than saying "You've finished!" or something. Edit: My 6 yr old son has almost finished the game in only a few hours (total, limited screen time you know), so for the price it would be good to have more than 40 odd puzzles, really. Maybe you could add more in an update?

My 7 year old completed the game in less than 3 hours. I think the concept is excellent and it is a great way to introduce a child to programming but you should have at least twice the amount of puzzles.

Except maybe overloading which doesn't seem clear to my kid, it is a great app.

The app crashed every time since your last update, what happened? I can not even read the initial instructions.

user experience is not adapted to claimed age group, only puzzles are easier. robot moves too fast to relate actions to commands. none of the languages listed on the website are available, english only

I enjoy with my son. he plays lightbot by trial and error. I hope to select Japanese language.

My 6 year old completed all 42 levels within a few hours. I'd expect more levels and many more hours of engagement from an application I'm paying for. Other than this the game is great and my kid really liked it.

Would rate it 5*, but I second Róbert Belán in that I would like the robot to have a slow execution speed so my 3yo son manages to follow its moves and understand what's happening. Maybe add a "Step by Step" button, which will make the robot execute each step of the sequence only when pressed. Or maybe even show the icon for its current action above his head or anywhere in the main area of the screen. I'm sure you can think of a way to help the youngest better understand what's happening. Thanks!

He's working his way through the app and loves it. This sort of game teaches logical thinking, planning and even spatial orientation. Thoroughly recommended.

Really nice but a bit short for a payed app. My 5yo bro got the basis quickly but never really understood procedures, he cleared those levels with a bit of help and luck. It would be nice if you could make that easier
