Kanji Defense

I think with a complete facelift and a few new features, this app could easily be better than most kanji learning apps. The graphics are horrible and the writing could use some editing/honing, but the gameplay is fun.

There are a few bugs which can make it annoying (buttons don't press easily) and the part "middle and center" needs adjustment because 2 out of the 8 words are both "centre". But some of the comments from the characters made me lol! Overall a great app but needs a little work. Hope I can retain the info long term.

Easy to jump into - enjoying it so far. Would only suggest that it would be more useful to refer to the kanji (memory tips) rather than spend so much time on the guide characters between levels.

A brilliant way to learn Kanji. Does not really include in-depth information about how the kanji is formed, however it is still very fun to use to be able to brush up on your kanji. Quite addictive too

Four controls at a time would be easier at beginner level, eight is too many. More time would also be helpful, or a time setting option for us slower players.

Easy to dive into. Good use of audio.

Is it renpy engine? Well done.

Keeping this short so I can go right back to saving princesses with my kanji knowledge. Seriously this is fun.

Great tool.

Choices in the story mode are amazing I just can't help angering the little guy. I'm sure if I stopped memorizing them I would learn something. It could go a bit slower at first or say the word for the one you picked so you could audibly associate the character with it's pronunciation. But a great starting point much more fun then flash cards.

Love this app. The endless review and reverse option are great! I love that they use Kanji compounds to form whole words. Only changes I'd make: 1. Include an option to remove English and just study between hiragana and Kanji for more advanced students who struggle with Kanji. 2. It'd be great to be able to select only specific levels for endless mode, for targeted practice of tricky levels. Otherwise great!

I love that this app tracks your progress so you also know which words you are having the most problem with. Then level select let's you work on or review words at your pace.

Amazing game, I just think you should include a Boss level for the level select, where they randomize the categories again and it'll be perfect.

I always download this app to my device everytime i get a new ipad this is my second one.

The stages are not progressing properly. Instead of introducing new kanji after the 3rd stage, the same one repeats indefinitely unless the game is restarted. This is more of a burden considering the problems started after I paid money which I could have used for other apps.

It's a very nice game but it's also very fast paced it tells you the kanji, their meanings and how they are pronounced. It would be better if they went over some of the kanji you learned in the beginning to have more of a feel for it. It can be a little boring but I like the music

Hi... I really want to try this game but at the name input screen (first screen when starting app) the start button does not work so I cannot go further. Will revise rating if fixed...

I'd really like the option to turn the English prompts into the kana word being pronounced. & Have the English meaning flash on the top when "hit" instead.

I have payed for unlock everything but the latest update is asking me to pay once more to unlock all. I was enjoying this before the update and now it's asking me to pay for what I already payed for I'm kina annoyed. I like a refund.

It's an awesome app! Can't believe learning would be so fun, it even has a story behind haha. The tension and feelings it provides are so amusing. I really enjoy when fighting those "unknown threat" youkai, it's so satisfying when you beat them!

Pretty good for kanji praticing if you have some background in Chinese as well as Japanese you'll do very well.

It helps alot with the meaning, but does almost nothing about what sound it makes. It doesnt even mention the other reading of the kanji. It would be better if there was another setting to test reading. It also moves a bit fast. I get the kanji, but i dont feel like i really memorized it. And the kanji arent brought back up until ALOT later and by that point i had forgotten. Otherwise really fun and great for memorizing meanings of kanji.

The only thing I would change is the sound. Sometimes it's really hard to hear pronunciation

This app is not for people who are new to Japanese. It picks a small set of related kanji, such as numbers, then you have to tap the right kanji as the English equivalent moves across the screen. It doesn't teach context, sentence usage, grammar, stroke order or anything like that. I'd recommend looking somewhere else.
