About Astro Frontier Lite

*Lite Version*
Astro Frontier
On the far side of the galaxy, a new planet has been discovered! Lead an expedition through the depths of space to be the first to colonize the planet. Manage resources and keep your crew happy, assembling your fleet as you build new ships such as the bubbly Manufacturing Ship or the combat-ready Stingers. Speed is key when trying for the high score, but beware of space pirates looking to end your journey once and for all! Blast off on a turn based sci-fi adventure in Astro Frontier!

This version is the entire game with a few ships locked out. However you will be able to play through with all of the essential ships and make it to the end.

The locked ships are:
Two Lead Ships- The Mako and The Ebi
Three Helper Ships-
The Science Ship, provides upgrades
The Party Ship, regains morale
The Repair Ship, repairs the hull of the lead ship

What is Astro Frontier?
Astro Frontier is a turn based casual resource management simulation that was inspired by the classic Oregon Trail game we enjoyed as kids, as well as Euro-Style Board Games like Agricola and Battlestar Galactica. Astro Frontier, like Oregon Trail, is a game about traveling to a far away destination but with resource balancing mechanics derived from Battlestar Galactica and a scoring system learned from Agricola, all wrapped up and presented as a deep-sea-themed deep-space sci-fi adventure that will have you crossing a vast ocean of stars to make it your destination.

Choose from three different flagships and nine different supporting spaceships to help manage, gather, and sustain your resources to overcome the daily events that stand in your way. Along the way, you just might find your fleet resembling a bubbling aquarium filled with fish more than a deadly armada, just don’t let your guard down because swarms of space pirates are waiting to battle along the way!

What are people saying about Astro Frontier?
“Like Oregon Trail but in outer space. Only slightly less dysentery though.” - a Google User

“Turn based space strategy with elements of rock paper scissors, Homeworld, and FTL.” - a Google User

“Astro Frontier is a game that might appeal to folks feening for Oregon Trail, except that this adventure takes place a few feet higher in the air, and there is much less flux to contend with. Thankfully.” - androidrundown.com  [Overall score: 8.25 out of 10]

It's fun to play. I like that it's not a MMOG game. It's a stand alone game. I have the lite version and it works fine on my phone.

I tried it before and found it a little slow. Tried it again yesterday when I was under the weather and found it soothing and hypnotic. Pretty art, a variety of choices to make but not too demanding. I've played through 30-40 "days" and enjoy it. Dreamed about it this morning, keep hearing the music today even though I turned it (but not the sound effects) off around day 20. Sure the ads over dialog are a little annoying but they go away if you wait a little. Liked it so much I've bought the paid app to try out with different ships once I make it through the story once on this free app.

Once you have a dozen or so resource ships, the game becomes tedious. Gameplay could be improved by creating a management screen for resource ships instead of prompting the user for each ship every turn.

Ads pop up over dialogue. I feel like there is not enough freedom, what you can do each day. Pretty fun game anyway, I'll consider purchasing for the full experience.

Astro frontier is a great deal of fun; the setting is great, but the sprites are well designed, and the gameplay is simple enough for anyone to understand easily. However, the encounters are extremely repetitive, and the pace of the game is very slow. If there was a way to speed up the slooooow waiting time between choices, and this would be a much better game. Still, and it's clever and novel, and you get almost everything in the free version. I'm excited to see what this team does next.

Combat is rock paper scissors. Events are lipstick around "use resource x, or resource y?" There just isn't any depth here. Anyone comparing this with FTL hasn't gotten past the superficial - yes, both are about space exploration with an 8-bit vibe, but the resemblance ends there. The music doesn't hold up, either. Disabled it after a handful of turns.
