PicaSim flight simulator focusses primarily on incredibly realistic R/C glider flying (slope and thermal), including wind flow, turbulence and thermals in the simulation. The gliders range from small flying wings like the Weasel, aerobatic planes like the Phase 6, Le Fish and the Jart, up to larger soaring and scale planes, plus a full size hang glider. But there are powered planes too, including a fully aerobatic powered plane, the Extra 3D, as well as a control-line plane. Almost all the gliders can be launched by hand, with a bungee/high-start, or by aerotow.

Please remember it's a flight simulator, not really a game. There are no compromises in terms of the simulation, handling or control. If you find it hard to fly - that's because flying R/C planes is hard (at first), but a fun and rewarding skill to master. PicaSim won't teach you to fly a R/C plane, but it can help you learn.
It comes with a large selection of aircraft (mainly gliders for the moment), multiple terrains to fly in, and many settings so you can configure it as you see fit, or create your own terrains to fly around.
It is completely free - no in-app ads etc. However, if you like it, find it useful, or would like to support future improvements etc please feel free to make a small contribution - it will be hugely appreciated! You can do this through the PicaSim full version, or visit the website.
The Full version also includes additional scenes, races, limbo challenges and planes (including a quadcopter). It will contain more "bonuses" over time, as a little thank you for contributing.
If your device is Android 3 or above and supports USB OTG, you can probably use an external USB gamepad or joystick, or even your R/C Transmitter (via an interface), using a USB OTG cable/adapter (very cheap). Its definitely worth trying. Make sure you connect the controller before running PicaSim, and then set it up in the settings->joystick menu. A few things:
1. If you've never flown an R/C plane before, I suggest watching at least the start of this video: http://youtu.be/FsbOyWK_8zo - it will give you a few tips about how to not crash. Keeping airborne is pretty hard at first!
2. If you select a multi-stick controller (mode1 or mode2), watch out for glitches. If the sticks don't always follow your screen touches, your device probably doesn't support full multi-touch. Select "stagger controller" in Settings->Options.
Please keep an eye on the website (or follow on Facebook/Google+) for info on updates etc - it's also available on iOS and Windows. When it's more feature complete I'll add more info on all the settings and how to configure/use it properly... until then please just experiment, and contact me if you have any questions or suggestions.
Permissions: It saves settings to the SD card, mainly because it supports using user-generated content. It needs the "Phone calls" permission for Marmalade - I think this is to handle interruption by incoming calls properly. PicaSim does not access any personal data on the device.

This is a wonderful simulation of model glider flight. The physics are very realistic, with gusty winds and turbulent air, right down to how the model behaves when it lands, skidding and twisting. The controls are tricky though. Some of the models are very twitchy and unforgiving. Using a finger on my Android phone was too coarse a control for fine adjustments. I find using a mouse with the pc version is much more responsive. Nice work!

Great game but the controls are hard to figure out and it needs a first or second person view in the free version rather than the camera just stay still. I'd give it all 5 stars if those 2 issues were addressed

As a trainer, it smokes other sims I have tried. Only complaint, and I can't say its the app specifically, is the controls can get twitchy. It may be my touch screen, or may be an issue within the app, but, let both sit a spell, and all is well. As I have started building a 2m glider, I would rather wreck electronic planes learning the skills I need, then wrecking an $100 in plane and 50+hours in building it. Update. The return comment from the app designer bumped this from a 4 to a 5 star rating. Yes, it was a mixture of both issues: sensitivity and moisture in my skin. My flights went from 2-3 min average to "I have things to do, land this bird " 15 minutes or more. Now I need to finish my GL and really go flying.

Idk if makers will read this prob not but the game is perfect, I just wish the sound was better, using the engine plane u can hear it until u take off then its complete silence :(. I have real rc planes and even far away u can still hear the little engine, and my little battery glider u can hear from a distance to, I hate flying with silence it takes away from the experience of realisticness and u getting the feeling ur actual flying an rc plane with a remote which is ur phone. Me and a few friends will buy the game if the sound can be better. There is only 5 of us but I'm sure we can't be the only ppl who want better sound before they buy it

Love the game, very well done! This game has been one for a year or so, and is still thenbest. The very best rc plane sim ever! The control are a bit figity, but you can get used to them. May i ask ffor you guys to add more planes? Larger planes like the boeing series or something like that :) Again, love the game, would recommend for anyone who likes flight, easy gameplay, and very fun games. Thanks for making a game like this, its awesome, keep up the good work! One problem though with the game is that there are surtain planes that won't lift off. And i checked, they are not gliders. Please check if this is an issue for the game or just my device. But again, this is a great game, and even the best games have errors, good job.
