Love this game. But had a lot of trouble getting it to work. And Square-enix customer service is worthless; just regurgitating unhelpful info from the online FAQs at me. If you can't get the game to start try changing where you have it installed. I moved it from my SD card to the internal storage and now it plays without a hitch.

Love being able to play this great game on Android. Won't install on my Galaxy S6 but says it is installed. Installed fine on other phones LG G3 and Xperia Z previously. Not sure why it won't. Disappointing I must say. 5 Stars normally

The app refused to open all the way. When I go into the app it's the screen is all black. The same thing happens for final fantasy 3 on Android. Please fix. I really love this game

One of my favorite games. Played the heck out of it on SNES. I don't remember this many random battles though... Sometimes 2 steps after a battle I get attacked. Kind of annoying.

My update to my review is its a near perfect game. It suffers from what all ported games suffer from. On screen touch controls, while not bad in this instance, but as always cumbersome and seem to get in the way of the game. Besides that freaking awesome!

by S####:

Prior to the 1.2.1 update, the game ran oddly slow, as little as 10-15 fps in battles. Since this update, the game runs much better, hitting about 25 fps in battle and nearly 60 fps outside. Nonetheless, Square Enix and Matrix Software could and should make the game run faster. This is my first experience with this historically significant game, and it's nice to have it on Android. It's very expensive, but well worth it (barring the performance problems).

Bought game, won't run just get a black screen. Square Support won't help out. All my other square games work fine just this one has an issue. Can't recommend if the game won't even work and the developer won't provide support.

Plz fix. Lg v20 I get a black screen when trying to load my old save file from cloud. Ill fix my rating if fixed. Everything else works amazingly.

This remake is fantastic, gamepad support, simple but charming graphics and great pause/resume support. If only square enix showed similar respect to chrono trigger, ffv, ffvii, etc that have incredibly poor ports.

Why did they take away the second limit break? They need to come up with an update to give us back the second limit break. Other than that, good port.

Seriously I feel bad for saying this but I'd have never given this masterpiece a chance for the shallow reason that it was on Nintendo and I like newer graphics. This game is worth every damn penny I spent Square soft put their heart and soul into this game. The music is amazing, and very addictive the story in my opinion is the best in any final fantasy game I've play so far (haven't played 6 or 8 yet. And it also has a game + So you can play it again with a few items the come over to the next file. The story is heart renching you'll care more about these characters the longer you play and the time you put into it is equally rewarding. I never thought I'd like an rpg more then Ff-7 and this game blew me away.... If I could advise all my rpg friends to give this game a try I'd do so so they could experience this gem for their selfs differently my favorite boss battle songs and battle them even though ff-9's, ff-3's come close. If your contemplating what final fantasy game to buy and looking for a decently long one that you can play more than once and is just as good as the first time you played it I would suggest this game also seven eight and nine are on their they're all so good. But this is my favorite story so far.

Trip down nostalgia lane. Music is fantastic. Graphics great. Controls are ok once you get used to them, I have played worse games.

The only downside is the finnicky controls. Other than that, this is well worth the purchase. You get used to it after a bit.

So far, game is unplayable on my Nvidia Shield Pro. It seems that there's a required piece of gameplay to use Namingway in Baron Castle, and the game will not allow me to input a name and have it accepted. It seems the game wants me to use a touchscreen to get to certain buttons appearing on the screen, but my device doesn't allow that. No way to skip, and no way to complete what's being asked of me. $15 wasted so far.

As a console gamer, I was skeptical at first to play a Final Fantasy game on a smartphone. This FFIV port shattered that skepticism. The on screen controls are surprisingly smooth and the auto battle feature is great for level grinding. I enjoyed the 3D graphical remake of the classic 16-bit FFIV. The character portrayals were refreshing and the voice-acted cutscenes were great. The only gripe I had was it is a bit more difficult to play a console-grade game on a smartphone screen for long stretches of time without having to take more frequent breaks to rest my arms and hands (Galaxy S7 Edge user here.) Gamepad support in the future would help alleviate this issue for people craving a marathon gaming experience. Screen mirroring to a TV makes for a more immersive console-like cutscene and dialogue experience, but the input lag to TV makes actual gameplay this way impractical. All in all, this is a solid app worth every penny (or gil?) that delivers a genuine Final Fantasy experience wherever you happen to be.

Horrible. I'll put aside that I forgot how sadistic the redesign of this version is. Beyond unforgiving at points. No, it's this port that I'm disgusted by. First, what's with the generic font? Use the stylized font used on the DS. It looks far better. But second, and most importantly, the CONTROLS. Holy cow. Who okayed this? The direction pad on the world map is just stupid. It's so awkward. Just put a transparent, fixed D-pad on the lower left. It's so much more intuitive than this odd scheme that had me walking in every direction but the one I wanted. And the touch screen menu sucks. It's slow to use and it distracts from the onscreen action. And why can't I see my character stats when menus are open. Every aspect is atrocious, and there's no way a true RPG fan designed that system.

Couldn't even play. After downloading from Google Play, it decided to reinstall all data from in the game and then after installing decided to 'error' itself and refuse to start. Absolute joke!

Great game. Between 1-6 4 is my favourite. I would buy all in the series released on android if it they were cheaper. £11 is steep but Ill gladly pay that for FF7.

A great Port of a classic. For some of us this was the first 16 bit RPG we played. For its time it was truly groundbreaking. I am happy to see it available for mobile devices! The graphics are improved, but most important is the sound and music, it's all the same Tunes you remember. A wonderful nostalgic trip

A legendary game just the way I remember it. The updated cut scenes are pretty good too. It's like playing the game for the first time again. Thanks guys.

Still an okay game overall, despite the porting job being anything but perfect. It's very easy to accidentally walk in the wrong direction and in the case of battles the menus will cover up the whole screen which makes you feel fairly disconnected from the action. This particular version also restores a couple features from the Japanese DS remake, such as different menu themes and text speed options, but it also removed Rydia's new summon and all minigames associated with it despite being extremely easy to port in the first place. Another thing that's notable is that the character models feel a lot stiffer than on the DS because their "breathing" is much more subtle than before. There is still a good game hidden underneath these flaws, though. Just put a little more effort into the porting job next time around.

Love this game and glad to have it. My only complaint is that I would have preferred the pixel art pf the snes or the amazing PSP remakes new designs.

This is the second of the Final Fantasy games I've downloaded that have repeatedly crashed early in the game (the other was Final Fantasy III). I don't know if they are just not compatible with the ASUS ZenPad 3s 10 or Android 7, but I'll be uninstalling this and requesting a refund like I did with the last one.

Final Fantasy, not much else to say. I have played 1-15. I'm currently playing 14. Favorite is 7. But 4 is still one of the best. It was a game changer period.

Never got to play since you are forced to make a Google play games account just to play it. I won't install the games app and don't want an account. This game wasn't cheap, and I feel cheated since I can't even play it.

The sound is incredibly glitchy on my Galaxy Tab S2. The game runs and plays well otherwise, but I have to play with the sound off.
