About Triwordz

Triwordz is a revolutionary new word game created by London Gamz! Unlike other word games, this one challenges players to spell words with triangular shaped tiles that must fit in right-side up and upside-down positions. Seven letters are bi-directional, so look for these purple tiles for more rewarding turns. Not only score points by spelling words, but score additional points by spelling words within words. If you love playing word games, Triwordz is ‘triangularly’ like no other.

Playing the Game

Each player starts with two random letters. The first player places one of the two letters anywhere on the board. After each turn, the next player places one of their two letters anywhere on the board, attempting to create or complete a word to score points. At the end of each turn, a randomly selected letter will be given for the next turn so each player always has two letters. The game continues until all the letters are played, and the person with the highest score wins.

Spelling Words and Scoring

The game is played by placing one tile at a time, alternating player-by-player, attempting to spell words in a horizontal direction only. Words that cannot be used are prefixes, suffixes, words that start with a capital letter, personal pronouns, abbreviations, acronyms, or words that are hyphenated.

Each tile is to be placed on an empty triangle facing in the same direction. Letters that are ‘bi-directional’ (that can be played ‘right-side-up” or ‘upside down’) are: ‘H’, ‘I’, ‘N’, ‘O’, ‘S’, ‘X’, and ‘Z’.

To score, letters must form a complete word and be continuous in a horizontal direction without any spaces between the letters. Each tile has a value of one point once a complete word is formed.

There are two ways of scoring points: (1) One point is awarded for each letter spelled in a newly formed word; (2) Each word contained within the newly formed word is also scored counting 1 point per letter; for example, the word “tone” equals 14 points, as it contains the words ‘tone’, ‘ton’, ‘one’, ‘to’, and ‘on’ (or, 4+3+3+2+2=14 points).

If a player is unable to spell a complete word during their turn, the player places one of the two tiles anywhere on the board. If the letter placed does not spell a word, then no points will be awarded for that turn.

Play with your Facebook friends or with a random opponent. Have fun!
