With Shogi Quest, you can play the game of shogi (a.k.a. Japanese chess) online against players around the world.

Summary: A free Shogiwars clone that could become quite nice after some updates. Advantages: +Free. +English interface. +No help from computer button (pay to win). Differences that can be considered good or bad: =Less fancy graphics and sound =Handicap games, doesn't combine well with blitz shogi in my opinion. Disadvantages: -Poor rating system, if you're an experienced player it takes forever to reach your actual level. Also for some reason rating seems to increase even after losses. -Crude interface, doesn't auto reconnect to the game if you lose connection for a few seconds.

I will give it a solid 5 star rating if the following updates can be made: Please add a feature that will allow you to have 30 minutes of time. Also, please give us the option of picking the "one character pieces."
