About Game of Life

The Game of Life is a cellular automaton devised by the British mathematician John Horton Conway in 1970.

The game is a zero-player game, meaning it is determined by its initial state, requiring no further input. One interacts with the Game of Life by creating an initial configuration and observing how it evolves.

Features:
•  Add living cells to the board by touching the screen
•  Play / pause, reset the game
•  Fill the board with random cells
•  Editable rules in the settings to create other cellular automata
•  Rule presets

What are users saying about Game of Life

by Z####:

I'd love to be able to zoom in so I can set up shapes other than a 2-2 square. Otherwise, it's great, and I love the presets!

Z70%
by Z####:

Maybe add an option to remove the overlay. Perfect otherwise.

Z70%
by Z####:

Interesting app.

G70%
by G####:

it's fun

J70%

fascinating

I really liked this app, this is the first game of life app i have seen that let you alter the rules, and that is pretty neat. The only problem i have with it is the controls are quite limited. I would have liked a way to zoom in and out for precise pixel placement, and a way to remove individual pixels would have been great. Other than that the app was nearly perfect!

by Z####:

I've got those weird patterns when. S = 0,1,2,3,4,5,6,7 C= 0 I am not sure if dodgy code or floating point errors. It should create just a full screen on/off.

G70%
by G####:

It's good. The only thing that's annoying is that it constantly asks you to rate the game. Also, the pixels are tiny so you can't set then individually. But overall pretty good.

B70%
by B####:

Exactly wat i wanted and more. Works well(a bit laggy) like in the memory preset.

X70%
by X####:

Loved it, but have few recomemdations for improvements: ability to hide side tool for screen shots and ability to edit cell and background colours.

Z70%
by Z####:

No idea what I'm doing in it, but i like the patterns it makes ._.

T70%
by T####:

Excellent! I'm really proud because a Hungarian guy coded it. Just one suggestion: a magnified edit mode when I can easily toggle any single cell.

Z70%
by Z####:

Can't precisely place cells so building structures and machines is impossible

T70%
by T####:

It would be great to be able to use it as a background. And please give a zoom function, a speed option and a color option.

Z70%
by Z####:

Nice app, but having flaws (gliders aren't supposed to despawn spontaneously) is not acceptable when programming it is such a simple task.

S70%
by S####:

It does not work properly because random stuff might start mutate without going with the rule. It can be seen most obviously be adding just one square on the screen in memory mode

Z70%
by Z####:

I needed a good time waster, and this is just the ticket, with no ads or purchases or other stupid gimmicks, it's pretty much exactly what I need from this type of an app!

Z70%
by Z####:

I know you did not come up with this, but still: Woot! Nice job on UI though

F70%
by F####:

Love to play around with the game. It would be nice to have a few customizations. Eg. change the color and size of the field or the speed of the simulation.

V70%
by V####:

Brilliant, classic game of life with interesting controllable variations.

Z70%
by Z####:

Good app, however has a tendency to get stuck and crash, when switched to other apps.

X70%
by X####:

The only thing i wish is that I could edit cells individuals to make precise setups

Z70%
by Z####:

It's cool. But kinda pointless

K70%
by K####:

It is what it is, not really something to have fun with IMO

Z70%
by Z####:

Gets laggy when massively expanding - otherwise fine little app.

K70%
by K####:

Mind blown! I'm having existential issues now...

Z70%
by Z####:

It's a cool game for nerds like me.

Z70%
by Z####:

Good remake of the original game of life, with nice and useful new features. Totally recommend it as a time killer

R70%
by R####:

Lovely implementation of the game of life - I especially like how you can alter the rules to see what happens

M70%
by M####:

I have no idea what this is...

B70%
by B####:

Read about this in a sci-fi book long ago and well before the app

E70%
by E####:

It is just perfect for curious people, testing patterns and arranging cells just to see how it works is nice

F70%
by F####:

Great game! Zoom would be nice, as would painting individual pixels. Other than that, great!

N70%
by N####:

Great. If your looking for a Game of life choose this one. You will love it!

O70%
by O####:

It would be great if you could define the size of the world and zoom in/out...

Z70%
by Z####:

More explanation on what each of the life rules are would be awesome but other than that perfect for what it is

S70%
by S####:

This game is rad!

H70%
by H####:

Good version of the greatest classic.

Z70%
by Z####:

This is so cool

Z70%
by Z####:

Easy to use and gives you the option to customize the rules. Great app
