About Cyclone 2000 Free

Cyclone 2000 is an Android clone of the Atari Jaguar game Tempest 2000, originally made by the brilliant Jeff Minter. Try now for a nice retro game feeling.

* Supports Google Play Games Services for achievements, leaderboards and saved games! *

* Play in 3D on Google Cardboard VR or 3D TV! *

* Play it on NVIDIA SHIELD!

** If you have problems or find bugs, please send me a mail instead of bad review! **

This free version has the same features as the full version, but with ads.

Cloud Save also works between the free and full versions, so you will not lose any progress.

There are 99 levels to play, all levels available in the original game.

Collect powerups to buy extra help in form of permanent particle laser, A.I.droid, jumping or extra lives. They can be disabled, if you change your mind. More can be bought with in-app purchases.

Settings include control type and size, music path and music and sound effects volume. Before complaining about the controls, please test them for a while to see which one suits you the best. Also try different control sizes. Also supports game pads, tested with PS3 controller using Sixaxis controller app, Nyko Bluetooth controller and with NVIDIA SHIELD.

The first time the game is started, it will select control type and size based on your device properties. If a gamepad is connected, controls will be hidden and fullscreen is enabled where available. Key mappings are done in the control settings. Gamepad control supports analog joystick for movement.

Touch control types:

Multi touch swipe:

Lower part of display is used to swipe left and right to move the blaster. Right side buttons used for shooting, jumping and superzap. This is the default control for Android 2.2+ devices with true multi touch.

Dual touch swipe:

Similar to multi touch swipe, but for devices without true multi touch. Lower part of display is used to swipe left and right to move the blaster and simultaneously shoot, and swipe up to jump. Right side buttons used for superzap. This is the default control for Android 2.2+ that does not have true multi touch.

Single touch arrows:

Use on devices without multi touch. Controlled with one finger, typically the thumb. Side-arrows area moves while shooting. Up arrow area moves and shoots and jumps when available. Top area superzaps. Center area does not move, the further out on the arrows, the faster movement.

Multi touch arrows:

Use on devices with multi touch. Left side similar to single touch arrows for moving. Right side buttons used for shooting, jumping and superzap. This control type works well with the touch emulated Sixaxis controller.

Multi touch circular:

Use finger to rotate around the circular control on the left side. Right side buttons used for shooting, jumping and superzap.

On Android 4.0+ and devices with soft keys, there is an option to go to real fullscreen mode. Note that this does not work when using touch controls, only when using keyboard or gamepad.

For some older devices, performance may be increased by setting the sound effect volume to zero. The graphics details can also be set to low for better performance on low end devices.

For copyright reasons, the original Tempest 2000 music is not included in the game, but can be automatically downloaded from the settings. It is also possible to select any other music.

Bug reports or suggestions are welcome to my mail or Google+. Praise is best shown by buying the full version, giving good rating and telling all your friends.

I've loved T2K ever since I first played it on the Jaguar. In some ways, this version actually surpasses the original (playing T2K in VR is an amazing experience). There are, however, some issues that keep this from being perfect. First, the enemy projectiles and power-ups don't travel past the line that the player traverses. This makes jumping even more enticing than it was in the original, as it's impossible to get hit by anything while in mid-air. Second, the bonus flying stages seem to be missing.

It crashes frequently, especially when opening the game for the first time. Ads opening up causes crashes about half the time. Same thing with the screen changing from landscape to portrait, and vice versa. I'm on a Nexus 6p running Android Nougat.

Good graphics but not as good as polybius which is based on tempest BETA although the sound is some 8-BIT Awesomeness...

Tried out the VR setting just for fun while on a bullet train- the screen co tinues to slow drift to the right and I am unable to hit the settings menu to turn it off again, making the game unplayable. There should be a centering button and/or emergency settings button. The button areas seem to bounce around and the ones on the right are impossible to press. Other than that, very fun!

How about 4 arrows for the 1st bonus level & a steering wheel for the 2nd

I was sold on it when I started it up, looked great and the sound track from Tempest 2000 is killer, but the game stutters and the controls are bad. Would love to play this on the go but guess I'll stick to the occasional game on my Jaguar.

By far the best Tempest game out there. However the jump button needs to be bigger or not as sensitive. I don't know how many time my finger will move a micron and disengage the jump resulting in eating electric death. Very frustrating.

At about level 8 an ad popped up and the game locked up on that screen. Had to clear game data in app settings to get off ad screen, but that lost game progress. I just gave up and reloaded the old version for the PC instead! Great clone of Tempest 2000/Tempest X, but I think they kludged the ad thing in and IT SHOWS!

Won't even start. I got the popup message the first time I tried to start the game but I didn't have enough time to read before it crashed. Never appeared again and keeps crashing in start

All the controls are in the bottom corners of the screen making it impossible to play comfortably. An option to move the controls or at least bring them a bit closer to the center would be nice.

Works brilliant on Shield tv, but I only have one issue, how do I adjust volume settings in the menu as I can't move the sliders ? The sound effects are too low for my liking and I can't change them with the shield game pad ?. Hope there's a fix for this soon

I think there is an enemy (fuseball I think it is called) that I can't even see! It keeps on killing me right before I go the next level. REALLY ANNOYED!!! Please make this enemy viewable again! (If it helps, I was on level 26.)

First let me say that this is probably the best port of Tempest 2k I have come across. On the bug side there are a few: 1. The game seems to pause between levels, u must hit pause and the un-pause to get it running again. 2. Picking up power ups is still a bit clumsy, I could collect them quickly by passing by as they were near the end in the orig however in this port you must stop in the block that they spawnd mkin it tuff n clumsy. Finally a bit more tweaking on the fluidity of the controls and buttn size
