ATTENTION: THIS THEME REQUIRES THEME READY GOOGLE APPS!!!
You must also be running a Marshmallow (Android 6.0 +) ROM that has support for OMS or Layers for this app to work. You must also be fully rooted and have the Substratum app installed (get it here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=projekt.substratum).
IF YOU HAVE ISSUES INSTALLING THE APP WHEN CHANGING FROM LAYERS MANAGER TO SUBSTRATUM, THEN PLEASE UNINSTALL MY THEME THEN REINSTALL IT!
THIS THEME IS NOW OPEN SOURCED! https://github.com/daveyannihilation/Domination
Most items in the apps listed below should be themed on devices ranging from hdpi - xxxhdpi however some items may not be, depending on the ROM you're running. Please take a screen shot of any items that aren't themed and either send me an email or chat with me on Hangouts at [email protected] or join the Google Plus community here: https://plus.google.com/u/0/communities/114545910765709545138
1 - Download & install the app
2 - Open Substratum app (which can be found on Play Store here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=projekt.substratum)
3 - When Substratum opens give it full root permissions with SuperSU and also check to allow system modifications 4 - Click on Domination and wait for it to create the resource caches then click on Domination again
5 - Inside Domination click on Overlay Manager and then check the switch Select to toggle all overlays. Alternatively you can click on the overlays that you would like to install (keep in mind that some apps, mainly Android system, have different variants that you can choose)
6 - Click the floating action button (fab) down the bottom and select the following options:
For Layers ROMs - Click on Install
For OMS ROMs - Click Compile/Update
7 - Once that finishes compiling/installing, do the following:
For Layers ROMs - When the dialog pops up, click the REBOOT button down the bottom
For OMS ROMs - Wait until the compiling finishes and then check all the overlays you want to install again, click the floating action button (fab) down the bottom and click on Enable Selected (after this you may need to back out to the main section of Substratum, click the 3 dot menu up the top right and select Restart SystemUI)
8 - Enjoy your new dark UI :-)
WHAT'S CURRENTLY THEMED
Inbox (Recommend flashing TeamBlackOut version for better theming)
Nexus Launcher (need to flash the TBO version)
WhatsApp (very buggy, lots of hard code)
*Please note - There are a number of apps which are not compatible with themes due to hard coded text and background colours. There is a thread on xda-developers which has a number of different flashable zips made by Team Black Out that allow some of those apps to be compatible with themes. The thread can be found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games/apps-themeable-hangouts-layers-cmte-t3113192
**Please note - The older AOSP source-built Mms (not the newer Marshamallow version called Messaging) is not completely theme ready unless some items in the code are changed. I have made a flashable zip which can be found here: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24052804347853343
Thanks and happy theming! #WhiteUIMustDie
Best one here. However, whenever I try to access internal storage from anywhere using stock explore or either from apps like prisms it keeps crashing. I'm currently on Android 7.0 dp5.
The best theme from the best guy. :)
No Google Calendar theme?
Still a bit of the white on white though in hangouts menu and l must learn to read
Works, but all of my other themes have not been updated to substratum, and I only use this one for the keyboard. They should have created a new app for just substratum, and left the layers version intact.
The theme looks amazing with the dark black, I didn't noticed that iam supposed to flash theme ready apps. Feels good after flashing Lol. Waiting for substratum update to fix white background on launching some apps but until then keep up the good work. Updated to 5 stars. Thanks.
I meant the Android settings themselves, it doesn't look so great but everything else seems nice.
Only thing I noticed so far is the hangouts one isn't usable since the bottom icon bar is all white.
Solid white screen before app loads, Even when using theme enabled apps. Very jarring at night. :(
I have used this theme on all theme engines so far. But there is one problem for oms. The no card overlay for settings is not working. Please fix it... ASAP :) :V
The theme has been great with latest oms support. But there are cosmetic bugs here n there with not good font color support. Will give 5 stars once those will be fixed.
Great attention to detail
How I use please help me fast
Best theme ever better than paid themes
The perfect dark theme, and it's free. Tweak the accent and background colours, and it's great.
Dear users plz tell me
This theme is awesome bugless I recommended this theme to all...thanks to the developer for letting us have seamless ui theme...dark thanks to the team of this developer
I like everything except the brightness bar. I feel like there's a much better option than the stock sun icon.
My notifications detail's fonts are black. Because of it I'm unable to read the content currently on Android N
YouTube titles are white, same as the background, making impossible to read the titles. The rest looks really nice.
Just what I wanted, a simple dark theme that just works. I'm yet to find any problems on my Nexus 6p running rooted Nougat stock.
Edit 8/25/16: Thank you dev for the kind support, I was going to ask for help after trying a few more things – I figured out the issue on my own. When I first tried installing through Layers in early August, it left a folder behind when I had no overlays installed (system/vendor/overlays). Looks great, except for a few bugs here and there across recent themes (writing Play Store reviews, Contacts app not letting me add new contact photos). Persistence is key in getting Substratum to work on your device. It's a relatively new theme engine, and there are things to work out. This deserves 5 stars for the helpful communication/hard work from the developer & that a truly black UI theme exists. #WhiteUIMustDie #Domination
In this launcher the app drawer remains white with app Icon labels in white (hard to read). Fix this. Also Google contacts, dialer, messenger etc; are not themed. EDIT: I'm not able to find team black out nexus launcher but found for other apps like dialer. (Thanks for Quick reply)
Awesome work by a great guy, try it and you will no longer need sunglasses. A great layers theme, thoroughly themed with an eye pleasingly dark UI and stock colours. Colour options are a nice touch. OBLITERATE THE UNACCEPTABLE WHITE UI WITH DOMINATION!!! If you like it, grab the donate version to say thanks for a great theme. #whiteuimustdie
Android.domination.BlueGreyAllBlack has used 346mb of mobile data so far. Any ideas?
Cannot see the msg delivery ticks in whatsapp. Its blended to the background color of the bubble so no can differentiate between them. Please look into it.
nexus 6 ambient notification text is now dark and unreadable lockscreen text is unaffected
Best dark theme.
Very nice job! Keep it up
The best black theme.pure nexus 7.0
Needs be updated some apps fc in setting Google contacts need updating inbox need updating and others
Looks great on my 6p's AMOLED screen, and most of all thanks for keeping it free!
Don't be afraid to theme google calendar, be the ninja.
Please fix! It doesn't do well in the ambient display notification. I run on Nougat 7.0 stock Android
It doesn't work properly in my purenexus 7.0. It applies the theme just for sme apps. Do I need to reflash the rom or what can I do?
I can't see anything in "Contacts" apps as the background and the font both are "black". Running CM 14 wid OMS support
I just downloaded this app and it doesnt work. My theme hasnt changed still white theme. How do u get it to work?
After much use I have to say goodbye to domination, having a lot of problems with TBO on Shamu nougat with it.. so give it ago without. Hopefully I will return..
As of lately it seems as if the majority of the themes are all charge now. I'm not a cheapskate by any means, and i have bought my share of apps, but i also do not feel like spending hours of trying a theme, then refunding if it didn't work either. This being said, this theme is free and actually works very well. On a side note the dev was very responsive and helpful with any and all questions i had, and very prompt as well.
