About ANT+ Heart Rate Grapher

The ANT+ Heart Rate Grapher displays heart rate data from ANT+ heart rate monitors in a simple graph. The data collection will also run in the background, so you can freely use other apps while still collecting data.

We developed this app for doing demonstrations of ANT functionality on Android. Since there currently aren't many apps with this functionality, we decided to release it on the Play Store to anybody who might find it useful. So, if you are reading this, we hope you find it useful!

Disclaimer: This app is intended for demonstration/recreational purposes only and not for medical use.

Officially supported heart rate devices are listed in our directory: http://www.thisisant.com/directory/filter/~/62/~/

Requires:
ANT+ Plugins (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.dsi.ant.plugins.antplus)
ANT Radio Service (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.dsi.ant.service.socket)
ANT hardware support on your phone (see the description of the ANT Radio Service page for more info)

Known Limitations:
-Once recording is stopped, the graph will be cleared the next time the screen changes
-Since the entire recording is shown on the screen at once, recording long periods of time will make it difficult to read the graph, may be slow, and really long sessions may crash the app.

Attention Developers! Using the ANT+ plugins in your app to communicate with ANT+ devices is quick, easy, and free and uses a simplified API that doesn't require referencing technical documents or learning new protocols. Visit the ANT Android Developer page http://www.thisisant.com/developer/ant/ant-in-android/ for more info and to download the SDK containing the source code for this open source application.

What are users saying about ANT+ Heart Rate Grapher

K70%
by K####:

Most reliable I've found for my Wahoo ticker (Ant+) Pros Reliable and pretty easy to read. Cons Scale text far too small and trace obscured by current HRM fixable only by a restart to reduce range - would be brilliant if they moved that from top right to bottom right. If enhancements happening I would like Maffetone upper and lowers limits settable with alarms.

O70%
by O####:

It works and monitors my heart rate via my ANT+ HRM strap but how does it integrate the info into other fitness apps? If it can't be done then what is the point of it?

K70%
by K####:

It is the only simple app I could find that gives me the graph of my HR data by connecting with my HR monitor. Wish the axis label font could be made bigger. And, the data could be stored.

A70%
by A####:

"Plugin Access Failed: OTHER_FAILURE" Another crappy app that does nothing but give an error message that means absolutely nothing.

S70%
by S####:

Great real time tracker but could be further enhanced by allowing to record, save and export. Also the font used for axis labelling is much too small.

K70%
by K####:

I don't know how to use it please help me

P70%
by P####:

Could have the possibility to zoom in to selected periods in the graph.

C70%
by C####:

good but should allow for data exporting to different formats and maybe make the app better looking

K70%
by K####:

It's just kind of meh, nothing fancy. Doesn't track multiple workouts, or calories burned.

Y70%
by Y####:

Easy to use, however there is no way to save a graph. Y-axis numbers can be difficult to read (impossible at a glance). Most frustratingly, the entire graph is lost forever if the screen rotation is changed after recording has stopped.

Y70%
by Y####:

The big red heart and the string BPM are unnecessary and distracting. Pulling down the Notification bar fails to display the current rate. Y axis does not autoscale and the font is too tiny to read.

D70%
by D####:

"Plugin Access Failed: OTHER_FAILURE" Another crappy app that does nothing but give an error message that means absolutely nothing.

Y70%
by Y####:

Fantastic. Recently bought a heart rate monitor and stupidly assumed it was Bluetooth but apparently it is only ANT+, was going to send it back however discovering this app (and associated plug in / service) was a major step forward and I might well keep it now (especially as Strava are apparently introducing ANT+ soon).

H70%
by H####:

This app has so much more potential to be better. It is a basic heart rate monitor and while may be deserving of a higher ranking I feel their are much needed improvements to the view. The current heart rate should not be in the top right corner where it is obstructed by the active graphing, perhaps directly in the center with bigger font on the heart graphic. Additionally the numbers on the legend are way too small. Saving/Archiving would also be a nice feature. For now it works and I do recommend it but I simply cannot give it a 4/5. I'd actually pay for it if it had customizing features.

Y70%
by Y####:

I gave it three stars as other reviews lead me to believe that it's a good app that unlike others, gives a real heart rate, but it doesn't detect the sensor on my Samsung Galaxy S6 phone.

Y70%
by Y####:

No saving ability, crashes if left on for extended periods. Also doesn't have the ability to manually scale axes to show shorter periods of time when monitoring for longer periods. Over all good for less than half hour of monitoring.

Y70%
by Y####:

Worked ok, but as the graph grows, the numbers shrink until they can't be seen. Display is not scalable either. Data can't be saved. Needs work.

Y70%
by Y####:

Would total pay for it, if it only could save workouts.

W70%
by W####:

Works only for a few minutes. Have to reset it several times. Used to love this app. Now it is useless.

M70%
by M####:

Knocked 1 * off because I can't delete the default device. Previous hrm broke so has been replaced but I now have to select search all each time. Deleting all data didn't work so next step is to reinstall the app. If there was the option to export the readings I would probably be willing to pay for app. Update: Reinstalling the app didn't work but I cleared the data from the other Ant+ apps and default device was gone. I could therefore set my new hrm as the default :)

Y70%
by Y####:

Connect most of the time to my Galaxy Note 4. It show my heart rate at 56 then it jumps to 256 every few seconds.

Y70%
by Y####:

Simple & great app - except that there is no provision for storing the data for later on comparison. Suggest to make provision in the next upgrade

W70%
by W####:

Great no frills app but I wish it had the ability to save and export data.

Y70%

Does what it's suppose to every time !

Y70%

Y70%

Can you please add an option to display absolute date and time instead of minutes from start?

You have to download all this crap for it to work. It takes up a lot of space so I am uninstalling it all.

T70%
by T####:

doesn't ask for unnecessary permissions, SO REFRESHING! works great! I had to search through so many other apps before finding this little beauty. One request: the ability to scroll the graph.. that would be a great addition. but that one thing aside, this is a little gem!

T70%
by T####:

App works fine and connects to my garmin HR, no option to save the data for exporting makes it kinda useless for monitoring your sleep or general wearing of a HR monitor, so uninstalled & keep searching.

T70%
by T####:

No work galaxy s5 sport can not find nothing no errow just can not find but there is one on it back under camera tryed again on 11-21-14 does not support removing all ant from phone

T70%
by T####:

Use it every time in the gym - it keeps the screen on and gives a quick glance to heart rate. The entire workout stays on the same screen and you can take a screengrab at the end if you care. I use endomondo in the background. ****Better star rating if the dev moves the display to the bottom right - the graph always obscures the display for me! In portrait mode after a long workout there's much more of a scribble than shown in the screenshots. Thanks!

T70%
by T####:

Ugly Icon looks horrible in my app drawer. Can't save or export data. Needs more information like time frames, average heartbeat, etc.

P70%
by P####:

I would give it 5 stars if I could save 1 hours worth to either a .csv file or plotted as a graph. I'd even pay to use this app if it had that, it's the only thing that is missing. Only thing I'd change is to be able to relocate the numerical value to the lower right corner of the screen, as the plot line of the graph draws over it most of the time and it is difficult to read while running unless it is in landscape. Or have the option to set the screen orientation and lock it.
