About Climbing Grades Converter

The climbing grades are used to determine the difficulty in sport climbing, mountaineering and bouldering. Depending on region, climbing method or kind of rock, there are many different ways of grading the climbing routes. Using climbing grades converter you can make a quick conversion between the climbing grade you know and any other encountered during exploration of new areas. Remember that valuation of climbing routes are inherently subjective and based on the opinion of few climbers - often the authors of the first ascents.

Current grades available:
- YDS (USA)

- Saxon
- Ewbank
- Finnish
- Norwegian

Good but some conversions make little or no sense, in particular the conversion of the brit adj. scale into any technical scale - they provide different, loosely related information: one informs on safety, all others on difficulty.

This comes on handy when people insist on rating local boulders with UK tech grades instead of V grades

Misssing the option to add to the grade section. For example if I select the French system in the info section it explains what countrys use this system. I would like to add Switzerland to that info page as Switzerland uses the French grading system. It would also be nice to select between climbing and bouldering as a French 7 climbing would be a French 5 bouldering .

Very useful for quick, rough comparisons. I use it when instructing, to help explain different systems used in indoor walls. Like any other tool it's down to the user to interpret it intelligently. However, it needs lists of countries using a particular common grading system. For example, what grades are used in Canada? Other instructors I have shown it to thought it was a great concept.

Easy to use and it includes almost all the grading systems I have heard of.

Missing the South African system :) Hope it can be added at some point

This is a great app! I are can never remember how grades relate to each other. Now I don't have to. I use it to convert between grades I use -- YDS and Hueco -- to understand what I can climb. It also is good when reading magazines or watching movies.

It's good for getting an idea about what other climbers are talking about when they use a different system. It doesn't however show the curve on which grades actually relate to each other. The wheel system of the iOS app is much clearer in thus regard.

US Hueco bouldering rating system is missing. It would be nice to add, because it is widely used!

Nice only 3 because adverts

Great app but why is such a simple thing a whopping 3 mb and not movable to the sd card?

H70%
by H####:

Simple and functional, that's what I need. No problems, HTC Desire HD

Many scales

N70%

Highly unstable. At startup it needs to restart. And keeps going to a website...or something...But it looks very promising!

The best grades converter out there

Z70%

Excellent app, but if you could add US and French bouldering grades it'd be even better.

O70%

Folks, cool app but add "move to SD" option or make it open source please.

Z70%

Where is the U.S. Hueco system. No use to me until this feature is added. Too many other ratings very few people use...

Program slow and buggy on tablet (it takes time to slide to get to another grade) but more importantly the grade conversion is off for bouldering between the hueco grading and the font grading... V4 -> 7a?? You guys will be disappointed when you will go for the first time to font :-D ... Check the Wikipedia page, the conversion makes sense there...

Pretty sweet and simple. If for nothing else but as a point of reference when reading Rock and Ice or Climbing.
