Premier roman de Sefrioui, La boîte à merveille, une suite de scènes et de tableaux, raconte la vie quotidienne d’une famille populaire dans la vieille ville de Fès. Dès son ouverture, le roman ne manque pas d’installer une ambiance exotique. Un regard pittoresque sur un monde plein de tendresse, de couleurs et de parfums, qui ne manque pas d’ambiguïté sur le sens du récit.
C’est bel et bien un album, pour reprendre l’expression du narrateur, dont le lecteur tournera les pages. Un album haut en couleurs qui nous fera parcourir trois saisons et nous mènera de découverte en découverte, explorer la société marocaine du début du XXème siècle : mode de vie, traditions, rituels et vision du monde. D’avoir masqué la réalité politique de l’époque, laisse entrevoir un parfum d’exotisme et fait penser à un film documentaire d’ethnographe.

Sefrioui first novel, The Wonder box, a series of scenes and paintings, tells the daily life of a popular family in the old city of Fes. Since its opening, the novel does not lack installing an exotic atmosphere. A picturesque view of a world full of tenderness, color and perfume, which does not lack ambiguity about the meaning of the story.
This is indeed an album, in the words of the narrator, the reader turn the pages. A top album in colors that will make us go through three seasons and will lead us from discovery to discovery, exploring the Moroccan society of the early twentieth century lifestyle, traditions, rituals and worldview. To have masked the political reality of the time, suggests an exotic fragrance is reminiscent of a documentary film ethnographer.
