جامعة الأميرة نورة

حظي تعليم المرأة في المملكة العربية السعودية بقدر وافر من الرعاية والإهتمام أتاح لها أن تسير بخطى واثقة نحو تحقيق طموحاتها وإظهار تميزها في مجالات مختلفة، مما جعلها تبرز بشكل لافت ليس على المستوى المحلي فقط بل وحتى على المستوى العالمي حيث نجد نماذج للمرأة السعودية المثقفة والباحثة المتخصصة ممن يشار لهن بالبنان وتذكر أسماؤهن في المحافل الدولية وميادين العلم مثبتاً ذلك نجاحهن وجدارتهن التي لا تقل عن نظيراتهن في دول أخرى متقدمة.

وتعد جامعة الأميرة نورة بنت عبد الرحمن إحدى ثمار الرعاية والإهتمام بالتعليم العالي للمرأة. وقد بدأ الإهتمام مبكراً حيث أنشأت الرئاسة العامة لتعليم البنات في عام 1390 هـ الموافق 1970 م. أول كلية تربوية للبنات، ثم توالى افتتاح الكليات تباعاً إلى أن بلغ عددها 102 كلية، ما بين جامعية ومتوسطة وكليات مجتمع موزعة في 72 مدينة سعودية وتضم 000,600 طالبة. وفي مدينة الرياض وحدها كانت هناك ست كليات هي كلية التربية للأقسام الأدبية – كلية التربية الأقسام العلمية – كلية التربية إعداد المعلمات – كلية الخدمة الإجتماعية – كلية التربية الإقتصاد المنزلي – كلية الآداب.

وفي عام 1427 هـ صدر الأمر الملكي بإنشاء أول جامعة للبنات بالرياض تحت إشراف وزارة التعليم العالي تضم الكليات الست الكائنة بمدينة الرياض بعد إعادة هيكلتها بالإضافة إلى إنشاء عدة كليات جديدة تخدم مسيرة التنمية في المملكة، وقد تم تفعيل الجامعة في عام 1428 هـ بتعيين أول مديرة لها وهي سمو الدكتورة الجوهرة بنت فهد آل سعود.

وفي يوم الأربعاء 29/10/1429 هـ تشرفت الجامعة بقيام خادم الحرمين الشريفين بوضع حجر الأساس للمدينة الجامعية، وحينها ارتأى حفظه الله أن يتم تغيير مسماها إلى جامعة الأميرة نورة بنت عبد الرحمن نسبة إلى شقيقة مؤسس المملكة العربية السعودية الملك عبد العزيز بن عبد الرحمن يرحمه الله.​

In 1427 issued royal command creates the first university for girls in Riyadh under the supervision of the Ministry of Higher Education includes six colleges located in Riyadh after the restructuring in addition to the establishment of several new colleges serve the development process in the Kingdom, has been activating the university in 1428 appointed the first director of its It Highness Dr. Jewel girl Fahd Al Saud.

On Wednesday, 10/29/1429 AH University was honored by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, laid the foundation stone for university city, and then save it felt God be changing its name to Princess Nora girl Abdul Rahman University relative to the sister of the founder of Saudi Arabia, King Abdul Aziz bin Abdul Rahman mercy God.
