My AOSP ROM doesn't have the change host name option in dev options. Being to lazy to edit my build.prop this app made it stupid easy

Host name changed saved. Rebooted phone. Phone say host name changed after booting. Refresh wifi several times - still old name. Refresh dhcp list several times - still old name.

Always generates same hostname: "Android-GT-I9505". While it notifies after reboot that "Hostname has been changed", it is in fact again the same hostname. To be useful it would need to generate a random hostname on every reboot (or pressing the Generate button).

This app says: Could not find the command to change the hostname. Really?

I updated Busybox as it sugested, however it still will not change the hostname, insisting that I update as it "Could not find the command to change the hostname." Samsung 4G Epic Touch

Set it up once. It will work from then on without your input at all. Now I can check my IP address on the router without having to remember that my phone was the one ending in 65 and the tablet was 89.

I've discovered the need for an app like this on Samsung stock roms where changing the host name from the Settings UI isn't possible like it is with CyanogenMod. Update: From the description, I first understood that a reboot was required in order for changes to take effect. Immediately after installing and launching the app I found this to be optional (as pointed out by the dev). A quick and simple solution to a common issue.

I had problems due to a host name that was too long. FIXED with this tiny tool!!! If you have connection problems and use dd-wrt, try this.

Works fine with rooted Motorola Atrix/Motoluxe, throws error message but changes are done immediately anyway. BusyBox is needed, maybe worth mentioning this as well
