Ancient Faith Radio App

The content is fantastic! The app itself is not the best. The only way I can listen is if my phone is charging, otherwise it shuts down when the screen goes to sleep. It also has trouble with errors when starting up way too often. But I still use it every day because the content is just that good.

I love this app!!! I was a traveling salesman for years and this was my link to growth in Orthodoxy redeeming the time spent in those motel rooms. Now that I'm retired I still love it! I'm convicted that I need to support it financially more than I do.

Great but the podcast keeps pausing a while after I pause my phone screen. Can't find a way to change it in settings. Plz help

Love the app. It does have issues resuming if I get a phone call. As far as navigation, if I silence the navigation app, it doesn't interrupt or fail. Any sound, longer than normal notifications can affect playback intermittently. I use it through my car Bluetooth, and the play / pause there works intermittently. If it does fail, I have to completely close and re-open the app to resume. I am now bouncing back and forth between this app and my Pandora "Byzantine chant" station. (I prefer this AF app because the commercials are fewer and way more relevant to my life in Christ, but Pandora connects directly with Ford SYNC (rather than Bluetooth alone), and I have more controls available through the car. That would be a feature I would recommend looking into :) I am using the Samsung Galaxy Note 4.

Often refuses to play in the background. Went to set my phone down and listen, but turning off the screen killed the app. AFR routinely gets preempted while driving, meaning I have to futz with my phone to start listening again. Once I get it going again it will shut off when I try to go back to the nav app.

5 stars for content - love this! 3 stars for the streaming - it cannot stream in the background. Once my screen times out, the app stops. A little frustrating - I am sure that they developers are aware of this and will fix with an update in the near future.

This is a good app with one MAJOR drawback. There is not feature (or if there is it is not intuitive how to find it) to search for podcasts on AFR. There are specific podcasts that I want to listen to and download, but cannot do online nor can I even find them in the app.

Constantly crashing and fails to play in the background. I'm constantly having to open my phone and fiddle with the app to get it to play. This happens every few minutes. It completely crashes once every half hour or so, which makes it a huge pain to listen to even one single podcast episode. Talk radio streaming is at such a low bit-rate that it's often painful to listen to with headphones because of how high pitched and shrill it sounds.

Was great and I really enjoy the content. However, lately I've been unable to open the app. Very disappointing.

Ancient Faith Radio is awesome. The app used to be awesome. It will not open anymore on my phone. Sad. I used to use it daily.

Must download app for all Christians. Could the team please add Malayalam orthodox songs also.?

Great content, for seekers and "cradle" Orthodox alike. Good and well informed podcasts which steer clear of the hyperbole that affects most modern discussions on Theology and Spirituality. Keep it up and God bless!

Great App

I love AFR but the app rarely works and when it does it usually crashes. Much easier to use my phone's browser.

I'll gladly replace my review with a five star rating once this gets fixed. With android lollipop 5.1, Nexus six through AT&T, I can't move the in-line volume slider, nor use my hardware volume controls. They do absolutely nothing. The bar moves within the app, however, audibly, there is no effect. if the stream is paused, and then I move the slider on the screen, it moves, but as soon as I unpause the stream, it jumps back to 100%, and literally deafens me. fantastic app, however, this so! Needs to be fixe

When it works, it works great. Exactly the streaming content that I can't get anywhere else. However, a few weeks back it simply stopped loading and just tells you "An error occurred." Love the content, not the consistency. Wish they'd fix it.

I've used the app for a few years now and enjoyed the music. My wife listens to the lectures, and has found them to be quite helpful in her journey to Orthodoxy. However, this last update is terrible! The app crashes far more often than it works, and when it does work it just means it's waiting to crash... Please fix!

I still get connectivity issues with streaming the live stations. Sometimes it works, and when it does, it features outstanding content.

Since the new update, the application is not functional. Cannot stream the talk channel or music channel. Unfortunate.

Good content, but when I try to do something other than live radio half of the content won't load. I just get a spinning loading ring.

So much content, it's really nice to have an app as opposed to my browser. Please include a way to bookmark or save podcasts.... There is so much content it can be difficult to find a particular recording if interrupted.

I have been using this app for the past few years. Mostly for Podcasts and it is not uncommon to have a podcast that will not play beyond a certain point. Try to advance it beyond the sticcking point causes the Podcast to reset. For streaming the problems are worse. Lately it will stop after about a minute and ig you hit the play button again the app just repeats what it played. You have to kill the app to get it to play more but then it stops again.

I love AFR, but recently the app hasn't been working. I even uninstalled and reinstalled.

The absolute Best! It's not an overstatement to say I'm a better Christian because of Ancient Faith Radio. I thank God for this app and I thank everyone who contributes to this station to make it the absolute best!
