This app, is by far, the best tool I have use for exploring and naviagting the outdoors. When used with a smart phone, it provides more information and is much easier to use than a GPS handheld devcie.

I've tried other apps for my hiking needs but this one is by far the best. Has the most flexibility and best maps in my opinion. They keep improving the app too, which is not true for some of the others.

C70%
by C####:

This app surpassed my expectations. only point I could suggest is to add Google Earth for more satellite imagery allowing closers sat views of your intended area of exploration!

Z70%
by Z####:

I use this whenever I'm off trail. The mountains of southwest New Mexico and southeast Arizona have little or no cell service, so the offline access to maps and satellite data is key. But I also really appreciate being able to record a track and get information on it like pace, distance and elevation. Plus, it's super simple to share your track with other people. Nice work!

I am finding that this app doesn't meet my needs but I can't figure out how to cancel my subscription.

Lots of great features in a great companion app. I know of several people that even use it in airplane mode for their primary navigation device.

This is the best app, once you use it you'll think so too!

Did a few test hikes, using track recording on a Moto X Pure ate up about 3.5% battery per hour. Easy to find and use all the features. $20 is a small sum to turn your phone into a full featured GPS device.

I am trying to look at satellite image for the kootney pass on British Columbia and I see on the USA side of boarder I can zoom in on satellite but not on Canadian side? Why?

Z70%

I have been using this app for more than a year as my primary route finding tool in all seasons and doing different activities ranging from paragliding to hiking to glacier ski touring. The app is reliable and works great. But I have just downloaded the newest version of Gaia on my freshly formated galaxy s4 and it seems I don't have the option to import more layers in the app. If anyone knows what would help me solve the problem I'm open to suggestions.

Great features and capabilities. The interface can take some getting used to, but given its capabilities I can see why. Folder management could be more flexible. I'll take the capabilities. Has everything you need for tracking, documentation, finding your way anywhere, and even planning your route to follow later.

I have just used the app once on the trail. I think it has promise, but I may revise my review up or down as I use it. I downloaded the user manual with hopes to learn the use the app faster. Wow. What a waste of time. For example, "Tap the "Locate" button...twice for "heads-up" mode." But a search thru the manual does NOT find what "heads-up" mode does for the user. I'll just "wing-it" for now. Maybe the manual will be more helpful later.

Well worth the price if you are out on trails or anywhere without service. Many of the maps already have trails on them, and if not you can upload your own! Surprisingly minimal battery usage too, can easily last all day.

Getting snap-to-route working for mobile is very impressive. Thanks!

I wish it was easier to take multiple photos at a waypoint. There are currently too many clicks and data entry screens for multiple pictures. Riding a horse in strong sunlight (always sunny here) makes this tough. I use another mapping program when riding for this reason. Your app needs a multi-photo mode with very few prompts. I try to photograph other riders and the scenery around me.

I love the simplicity and Gaia topo maps that are provided. The help section on the website is very useful for beginners. There are few features I think would be useful. * Show if a track that is imported from KML/GPX has already been downloaded. I chose to download either side of tracks. But since it doesnt show if it is already downloaded, I end up downloading the same things again. I have many tracks imported for my upcoming trip. * Allow to select folder when I import a file. * Show how much does 5 tile on either side of the track will cover on the map. * Allow configuring how many tiles to download on either side of the track. * Small bugs like making sure when I change the tracks folder and delete the folder, track is not deleted. Currently I have to go back so that folders are refreshed before I delete an empty folder. These are nice to have and will help. Having said that, improvement is a process and there is no reason for me not to rate this app 5 stars. Thank you for a well designed app which is delightful to use.

Very, very slow on my phone.(Galaxy J7) Constantly freezing. Frequently stops responding. It's better on my PC but I need it to work on my phone. Please fix.

Works well for me, mild to moderate battery use (half my battery on a five hour hike).

This app is fantastic and hands down beats any stand-alone GPS software/firmware (though hardware is up to your phone). I've been using Gaia GPS for GIS projects, military applications, and personal recreation - its great. My criticism is that it is an expensive app, and its worth it (especially compared to what any garmin product costs), but there are still features you can't use unless you get "GaiaPro" - an expensive subscription service (8$ month, 44$ a year). That may be justifiable for map data as its an ongoing expense to maintain servers and such, but a BASIC map application feature such as CHANGING A WAYPOINT ICON is a premum subscription option!! This is something you used to be able to do in earlier versions of Gaia but they switched it to premium only. So be warned if you buy this app there is no guarantee they won't bait and switch features in the future. Sad! I can't justify giving the app itself a lower rating (would be 5 star easily if not for waypoint icons) because it is very good, but TrailBehind Inc. are getting greedy.

Doesn't update to my actual location. My co-workers love this app I don't know if it's my phone or what but I consistently have my location about 30 miles south of me
