Samsung Galaxy S3 Android 4.3 Update Delayed Indefinitely

Samsung Galaxy S3 Android 4.3 Update Delayed Indefinitely
Just few days after the Samsung Galaxy S3 Android 4.3 firmware became officially available to users in Europe via OTA or Kies, Samsung stopped it due to the many problems that arrived with it.

Among the first who complained about the new 4.3 firmware I9300XXUGMJ9, were the Galaxy S3 owners in the United Kingdom and Ireland. Almost all of the annoying bugs from the previously leaked Vodafone Germany firmware were present in the official version. Here is the list of the problems we encountered:
  • Non responsive lock screen, pressing the power / home button does not turn the phone display on immediately and usually there is a 2-5 seconds lag (sometimes even more)
  • Missed calls issue - when someone is calling the display does not light up, you are unable to unlock your phone and / or the phone is not ringing.
  • Random freezes
  • Poor battery life, something is draining the battery pretty quickly. This issue was a bigger problem on the official firmware, battery life on the leaked version was not that bad.
  • Wi-Fi problems, again on the official version, the leaked firmware was OK.
Currently there is no response from Samsung on when they will fix these problems and what should users who installed the update do until the fixes are released.

UPDATE (Nov 20, 2013) Yesterday, Samsung UK posted an update on their Facebook page, telling users that they are working on the issue.

Dear Samsung Mobile UK Community, we are still currently investigating the reported issues with the Galaxy S3 4.3 Jelly Bean update. We appreciate your patience while we work on this & as soon as we have further information, we’ll update you in a post on the page. We’d like to apologise for any inconvenience caused.
