About Naptime - Super Doze now for unrooted users too

Empower Android's Doze Mode to the limit!

Why?
Because why the hell not?
Doze is amazing - arguably the best feature of Android™ Marshmallow and Nougat. But with its caveats. It can take at least 2 hours to kick in (if the device is stationary, not charging etc). If you move around, even with the screen off, doze won't kick in, so there are a lot of potential battery saving opportunities lost, gone with the wind.

Solution
With Naptime by toggling in the "Aggressive doze" options (and assuming you're rooted) Doze will kick in right after you screen off AND it disables your sensors so that it doesn't kick you out from doze mode if you move around. When your device screens on everything goes back to normal. It's just like magic.

Options
If you don't want to use "Aggressive doze" you can also tune all the framework doze options to your liking. Although it's a bit for advanced users each item is bundled with a description.

Never settle with bad battery life again with Naptime.

F.A.Q.

Q: Rootless mode?
To use Naptime's features without Root you need to grant it DUMP permission via ADB on your computer by executing this command:

adb -d shell pm grant com.franco.doze android.permission.DUMP

And if you're on Nougat or newer you also need to grant WRITE_SECURE_SETTINGS permission:

adb -d shell pm grant com.franco.doze android.permission.WRITE_SECURE_SETTINGS

After these two permissions are granted you'll be able to use Naptime freely.
Q: I don't receive notifications or my music streaming apps stop working after screen off. Please halp!
With 'Aggressive Doze' doze is being forced after you screen off. Doze is, currently, the most powerful battery saving mechanism on Android.

The following restrictions apply to your apps while in Doze:
· Only high-priority push notifications are delivered;
· Network access is suspended;
· The system ignores wake locks;
· Standard AlarmManager alarms are deferred to the next maintenance window:
· The system does not perform Wi-Fi scans;
· The system does not allow sync adapters to run;
· The system does not allow JobScheduler to run;

Apps like Gmail, which use normal-priority notifications, have them delivered during the maintenance window or when you wake up your device. This is standard behavior and can't be changed
Although, you can choose apps to bypass doze. Go to Settings -> Battery -> overflow ->Battery optimization -> All apps -> Your app -> Don't optimize
That'll allow apps like Spotify to bypass the forced doze and actually work on screen off.

Q: What's the 'Sensors app whitelist' feature?
It works together with the 'Disable motion detection' feature and allows you to choose up-to one app (sorry, Android limits us to only one app) to request sensor information even if you disable motion detection.
For example it allows apps, such as Google Fit, to query the accelerometer or gyroscope to count your steps.

Q: Why does my display, sometimes, blink once after screening on?
This might happen if you're disabling the motion sensors. The reason for this is simple, for system brightness & auto-rotate settings to work after screening on they must be toggled on/off (otherwise they won't work) and therefore it may blink (even if it's only for a couple milliseconds).

Q: My fingerprint scanner doesn't work when I disable the sensor motion detection!
Unfortunately not all devices will work fine when disabling motion sensor detection and in the process some other sensors & functionality might stop working. There's nothing I can do about it and your only option is to not use that setting enabled. There's also some weird compatibility with LG phones where the display doesn't even turn on again if this setting is enabled.

I am using the app in rootless mode on MIUI 8 based on Nougat. As soon as I clear the recents the apps gets stopped, unlike stock Android. Please tell me how do I make this work on MIUI?

F70%
by F####:

Can you add a feature for kill apps (force stop), and then they can't start again (like in greenify). So we can use the phone and a single app running and background apps hibernated. 2nd - Disable mobile/wifi data during doze.

D70%
by D####:

Can't see any improvement to the phone regularly waking up in sleep with this app installed and activated (rootless mode) and the battery doesn't last any longer. Perhaps some sort of log so we can see what the app is actually doing?

C70%
by C####:

Edit: You're right about users' obsession with number, so i won't comment on that, but for UX you may add clearable Notification i guess, so that it won't be totally out of scope to material design, it'll be cool just my opinion ofcourse. Anyway since you replied and considered i'll change rating to 5✴ now it's your choice ;) Well it working as promised but i have a feature request which might interest you, since it stays in ram all the time i think it'll be nice to have a notification tost (optional of course) which states how much time phone remained Dozed when we unlock the device. I guess this shouldn't add much of extra resource requirement and we can have some nice indicator that it's actually properly.

D70%
by D####:

Great app, but since update I'm only getting the toast message about superuser rights granted when I turn the screen on. Nothing is happening in my logs when screen is off so I'm not getting the benefits, is this correct?

W70%
by W####:

Made the standby time worse. Edit: Works really great. Probably the earlier issue was rom specific.

D70%
by D####:

I wanna try out but there is something wrong with the adb permissions on nougat. I typed it well on the pop-up in your app and it suddenly told me: "adb: not found"

F70%
by F####:

I swear I donated to remove the ads awhile ago.. Nevermind, I bought your other app servicely. (Which doesn't seem to do much in N)

D70%

When I enable aggressive doze, everytime I unlock my phone the screen goes very bright and then back to normal. Any thoughts? Using a OP3 on Vertex OS

N70%
by N####:

It really works (Nexus 6P, Android 8.0, rootless mode)!! Just try it....

D70%

Wonderful, but the Samsung galaxy S5 stock needs the secure setting granting even though it's marshmallow 6.0

It delivers. Thank you for creating such a great app.

Works great!

D70%
by D####:

thanks for all your work, it helps rooted users a lot. But the rootless mode is epic! But I tried it on two locked marmashmallow devices and it needed the second command, mentioned as for nougat users only, to be run. So if you could update the description, it'd be great. One was a moto g turbo edition and the second was a mi4

D70%

Really a wonderful application that makes standby battery so much better. I have less to worry about now, thanks to the developer.

You are a really fun developer with a comical personality and the apps are awesome! I'm on a note 2 with Lineage 14.1 and it saves battery like no other I do wish I could install the kernel too though. Please read the description before you guys post bad reviews.

The app itself is extremely well designed and works perfectly. But take this scenario-A guy who is new at this stuff picks this app. He opens the app and chances are he is going to be overwhelmed by all the different categories,entries etc. The neat little descriptions at the side help,but still can be quite confusing. So is it possible for you to add a preset/profile to the app?

D70%
by D####:

I've never realized how many stupid or illiterate people are in the world, but that's not the case. The app works as said. Saves the 6Ps battery life. Screw SOT, I'm more concerned about how long my phone will last on a charge

S70%
by S####:

This app really helps to improve the battery standby time. The SuperSU log shows this app requires root permission every two minutes. Is this behaviour intended or am I doing something wrong?

D70%
by D####:

I'm now using two doze accelerator app, this one and green*fy. I love the aggressive mode is very aggressive, make me save a juicy of battery when I don't need to waste it, and turn it off (and turning on the other one) when i want to use my phone. It's extremely brutal, and it's also speed up my charging time 50% faster, thanks...

Defo about same amount of battery savings, wich is really nice, but much rougher on alarms and stuff. Also weird screen brightness flickering on wake up. edit: 5 stars for the commitment and "customer" care! Have An issue with Chromecast tho. Music stops playing after a while when phone goes into doze. Tried different music apps, tried whitelisting them in doze, nothing worked. Something I can do to fix it?

R70%
by R####:

Previously I just used greenify for dozing + hibernating apps, however this tool works perfectly alongside greenify. I use naptime for dozing and greenify to hibernate apps, which has improved my SOT from ~3hrs to ~4hrs. (Magisk rooted OP2)

Terrible app. Battery did not go up.?

Great idle battery life, thanks Franco. Sad that some people can't understand sarcasm and even more can't read

I used to hate it, but the widget won my heart! This app shouldn't be necessary, but it is! I like breasts, but butts are better!

D70%

Make it free and include mobile charging time. [5feb17] then why there is an option for donation of 4.99$ and 9.99$? [26april17] Really? A 1x1 opaque widget only to get the screen off? Are we using nokia 3310 phone? And you wrote all the smart words from dictionary to praise your latest update? You are seriously blank my friend. This is more than Nougat era and screen-off feature is always there since MM so why this USELESS, FUTILE, POINTLESS, PURPOSELESS, IMPRACTICAL, VAIN, UNAVAILING, BOOTLESS, NUGATORY, HOPELESS, UNUSABLE INEFFECTUAL, INEFFICACIOUS, IMPOTENT, FRUITLESS, UNPOFITABLE, PROFITLESS, UNPRODUCTIVE, UNACHIEVABLE, SISYPHEAN, UNWORKABLE, BROKEN, KAPUT, UNSERVICEABLE, JUNKY, INUTILE update?

D70%
by D####:

my phone run on turboroid rom which is custom rom based on mm, my question is if i have option to enabling my doze feature from this rom on my setting will this app still working at the same time? Or i have to turn off this rom feature off first and then use this app instead? Hope you answer it thank you.

D70%
by D####:

It's the Bill Cosby for your phone. And that is no exaggeration. Be careful though. It kills Waze, Google Maps, HERE WeGo and any other maps application as well. Would be great if the app could check for persistent notifications to avoid killing my navigation apps. ||| UPDATE to reply devs: It does not "kill" GPS apps, they run. But they have no access to network, thus they stop functioning. Silently. That's the worst. Imagine you have a trip, you enter the address, it works, you go on the highway, and it stops working. Congratulations, you missed several turns already. So yeah, STEER AWAY FROM THE APP. And also, seems like the dev loves to attack/ignore feedback. Thanks, but no thanks.
