**Make sure text is upright (horizontally aligned to the app)** Beware of camera rotation!
Handwritten text will not work.
Text on top of unclean background (images or borders/lines in excel sheet) will not work.

OCR for Gujarati, Persian and Punjabi is experimental and the result is very bad. You have been warned.

I'm using a Samsung S2 and when this app works i'm getting really good accuracy compared to other apps i have tried. My main use of OCR Instantly is taking images of readings, OCR them, then saving as a pdf to be able to highlight and select text for later use . I am finding the app crashes when saving, after taking the image, or in the enhancing process. Is it possible to scan multiple images into one pdf file like CamScanner? When the crashing is fixed and with the possibility of multi page pdfs this would be a five star program.

Before retiring tonight, I took a quick look at a few of the many features of this OCR scanner. All that I need to say for a preliminary review (will do thorough review ASAP) is that this is one fantastic, must-have tool on anyone's mobile device. Everything you need to complete an image-to-text task is built-in (don't understand one reviewer's use of CamScan for pre-OCR). Accepts PNG screenshot images imported or shared without converting them to JPEG as some scanners require. Five very big stars!

Added ☆, few consumer OCR apps work well. This one is well above average & Dev is responsive. I usually need to adjust the image first. Needs to look darker & higher contrast than one would expect. Editing always needed, but is impressively accurate (english), especially since processing is local (& secure). I am very satisfied.

Just scanned a biz card. The OCR only had trouble, understandably, with the logo area. Otherwise, once I found the EDIT TEXT menu item I only had to delete a very small amount of garbage. I'm hoping the pro version will let me save the image AND the text? That would be 5 stars for an app this handy, fast, and accurate!

I was looking for something able to provide an offline scan but google translate (and it's capability to scan text) wins again against this app. In fact text recognition is very poor and basic. It is a waste of money, don't do it.
