About Pure Flashlight Widget

Pure and simple flashlight widget. It toggles the camera flash LED. Not asking for any weird permissions, no slow opening app, just a very simple and good looking toggle button! Multiple styles available and also a launcher shortcut (looks like an app icon) are also possible. Again, there is no application, it's only a widget, so you will find it in the Widget's drawer! :)

Camera access permission is required to open the flash in torch mode.
Wake lock permission is used to keep the screen on (dimmed) and CPU on (thus camera flash on) when the screen shuts. Some phones as HTC's completely shuts the camera hardware when phone is put to sleep so it might still not work for everyone.

Warning!! Be careful when using "Quick mode" as the widget might stop working (not turn on or off) on some devices like the Nexus 5. In this case you'll need to remove and readd the widget and leave Quick Mode off.

I couldn't test on many devices since I only have a Nexus 4, so if you encounter a bug please be nice and tell me and I'll do my best to fix it. I'm a busy man :)

Button to donate inside the app if you wish to support me :)

Well the flashlight actually works and the widget looks great. My only complaint is the flashlight automatically turns off after a few seconds; I have to keep pressing the icon to turn the flashlight back on.

R70%
by R####:

Randomly gets turned off. It did it with Kitkat and still does with Lollipop. Even the phone was reset to factory settings and it still continues to randomly turn off after a few seconds.

Z70%
by Z####:

It toggles the flashlight from the home screen and is relatively quick about it. My only complaint is that the icon does not persist after rebooting the phone.

K70%
by K####:

After turning on the flashlight it shuts off on its own literally seconds after being activated. Uninstalling. Using HTC remix

T70%
by T####:

I use to like this app but now it says if I want to change the widget style I have to install the widget because the app icon can not be changed. But I used the widget not the app icon itself.

R70%
by R####:

Aesthetically pleasing, but it shuts off intermittently and always at times when I need it most.

R70%
by R####:

The light just turns itself off after a few seconds. This usually happens at the most inopportune time. I used this widget since the Nexus 4, and I don't remember having to deal with this back then. I'm on the GS8 now, and I just can't take it anymore. Too annoying.

X70%
by X####:

Great light...but i don't want it on 24/7. The random shut off i can live with...just turn it back on. But today it wont shut off. Had to uninstall. Sad, 'cause i did love it

LG G3. Used to just have random turn off problem. Now it's broken all together.

X70%
by X####:

Very small, clean. Does exactly what you need and that's that. In app purchase is only a download necessity so you have the option to donate to the developer but the app is entirely clean and basic

After reading all the comments I was reluctant to try it but so far it's worked perfectly fine just as described for 2 days now on my Galaxy Note 5

J70%
by J####:

Great idea, terrible implementation, at least on my LG G3. Tapping the launch button results in a long delay before the flashlight turns on, if at all. Usually i end up tapping the launcher a few times, resulting in a on/off effect. Uninstalling.

Q70%
by Q####:

Turns off on its own and doesn't stay on for longer than 3 minutes. Sometimes I desperately need the light and it turns off. Not sure if it's bc of lollipop update on my Note 3.

B70%

It does everything i need it for and doesnt complain! I use it with smart launcher 3 and i have it set up to just hit home button twice and the light comes on. That simple then hit it twice again and its off. And the pocket off is genius!

E70%
by E####:

Not sure what everyone else is talking about, but it works fine for me on Note 5.

E70%

Does not work properly.. Unreliable

X70%

Best thing is that it can be invisible on your home screen and resized. It does toggle itself off sometimes, but its a quick tap (or two) to fix it. Great job.

X70%
by X####:

Nice style but not compatible with Galaxy S6. Turns off randomly. Crashes camera when launched

B70%

Flashlight turns off all the time. Super annoying. Love the invisible feature though... Please fix

Have had this widget for awhile, since the new update it shuts off after a few seconds which is very annoying. Went back to the stock widget.

I am completely satisfied with this app. It works when I need it to. Use it regularly when helping Grandma into & out of the car at night. No special permissions. Just learned that some flashlight apps spy on you. Glad to learn this was not one of them. Thankful for it.

Right after I installed this app I accidentally dropped my phone into a puddle of water, shortly after a cyclist knocked my phone into the road when a steamroller ran it over. I managed to get the phone safely home where I decided to heat up my meal in the microwave. After the microwave blew up, I realised I had put my phone in there by mistake. Before I had chance to put the fire out the whole house blew up because I forgot to turn off the gas on the cooker 3 weeks ago. And now my phones broke!!

Looks good. You can choose what your icon looks like. You can choose to have it vibrate. There's a notification that comes down when it's on. Only thing is you can't modify the icon after you create it. You have to make a new widget and change it to how you want it to look like.

X70%
by X####:

This it's exactly what I wanted. Just a button on my home screen that toggles the flashlight. Only issue I have is the icon doesn't have text under it like my other apps so the icon doesn't line up with the others. Kinda bothers me.

X70%
by X####:

It won't stay on. This is to much to deal with right now.

Q70%
by Q####:

It's good but sometimes it shuts itself off or does not respond. Also sometimes does not respond when i click it. Also it lags from when i click it. My phone is fast so it is the app 100% for sure

As I love customising my home screen almost daily, the original flashlight widget on the Samsung looks out of place with the rest of the set up and was looking for a smaller alternative. To my surprise, the dev includes an invisible widget which is perfect for me. Well done!

Aesthetically pleasing and functional. Fully functional for me at the time being. Aside from past problems with intermittent and unprompted turn offs, this app takes the cake for best flashlight.

The crap shuts off by itself after a few seconds. Been using it for more than half a year but last months it started shutting off automatically. Quite annoying when you really need it...

O70%

Awesome! It is so incredibly bright. Glitches sometimes and turns off, but you can just turn it right back on

The light randomly shuts off after a few seconds. Other than that, it's a great widget.

My icon just disappeared one day. I uninstalled, and reinstalled...says it's installed, but cannot find icon. Help! I loved this flashlight, but cannot use it without the icon. Even looked where all my apps show up...not there. Does not show in settings under apps either. I need it to show on my home screen. Help!

This app is an abysmal piece of garbage. It just cannot perform its unbelievably basic and simple task of switching on your flash as a flashlight and keeping it on until you decide to switch it off. The random switching off bug has not been corrected for more than a year. This app is in fact so bad, annoying, angering, and outright dangerous to your health, that I felt like reviewing an app for the first time in my life. Shame on you whoever commited this, do not under any circumstance download it

I've had this installed on my LG G3 since I got the phone a year ago. It didn't work right from day 1, but I kept it because it has the most attractive widget icon of all the flashlight widgets. It will turn on just fine, but turn off after just a few seconds. This has gotten even worse since the Lollipop 5.0.1 update. I switched to another widget, and it works perfectly, so I know it's not my phone; it's the widget :(

S70%
by S####:

Great looking widget... But useless if it automatically shuts off after a few seconds.

S70%
by S####:

wish it had more icons with colors just the first option is square but all the other ones are only a flash light

S70%
by S####:

Unlike many other apps this one works while minimised as well as with the device screen OFF. That's very handy for me..
