About Spark Core

The Spark Core companion app pairs with the Spark Core, a tiny Wi-Fi development board that makes it easy to create internet-connected hardware. The Core is all you need to get started; power it over USB and in minutes you'll be controlling LEDs, switches and motors and collecting data from sensors over the internet!

This app will help you connect your Spark Core to the internet over Wi-Fi and control it without writing a single line of code! Our sandbox for the Spark Core, which we lovingly call "Tinker", will help you get your prototype or project up and running in minutes.

So after a lot of time has passed since I last played with these you have made no updates or revisions to the app, I can put code on from the app, the app crashes regularly and constantly asks me to log in you've added nothing in the way of extra function, very disappointing

I do have a spark account, but I can't log in with my account with this app. It says that my email address is invalid. My email address has a .us domain.

Meh. Its...... average. No real idea if the connection is working or not. Just a blinking blue light and no knowledge of whether its working or not.

My core rgb is breathing cyan but neither my Xperia z2 nor my iPhone 5s can find it, why is that ? I have also tried almost everything in your website!

KS Spark core was working.... I put it in the draw for a few months and just dug it out as my new Photon's arrived. My older "Core" module just brings up a solid magenta led, tried resetting, and releasing the API to reclaim, removed app... probably time to forget this pipe dream and go back to the tried and proven USB arduino's :(

There is too fee information about what is happening during the connection, and claiming process. I would like to have a log with all those operations, scrolling up right in the screen of the application.

Had a very quick response when wasn't working. Works great on a Nexus 7 and Galaxy S3. Looking forward to getting my ideas up and running.

The application requires that you be physically logged into the network you are trying to connect it to.. This is a totally unnecessary step. The device does not need to be on the same network as the phone, especially if the phone is not connected because it is providing a network via tethering. Allow the user to manually write in a network to connect to. The Application gave no warning that it could not connect using a Nexus5. I finally connected it uing a Galaxy Camera, Nexus 4 and Nexus 7. Give the user a notice if they are using a Wireless N capable device on a wireless N network with B/G backwards compatibility. Currently the device just refuses to connect and gives no warning message of any sort, just times out. The device is on a strong wifi connection but keeps getting random errors. I've done everything I can to get it a strong signal, but there are messages popping up continually. "We have encountered an error". "Status code:404/504" and many other errors. Because of the above, I've pretty much written the device off as being too unreliable to use in any project aside from "wow an LED lights up when I press this button". Good effort though.

I was so looking forward to this device, but was disappointed in its inability to connect using my Samsung Galaxy S3. Even more concerned that it appears not connect to 802.11n I have tried changing my router 54mbs and best compatibility to no avail. I would expect this to work out of the tin. I will now try the USB method. Joy at last!!! Have now connected using the USB method, so have upped the stars. I'm over my initial disappointment, and am ready to fire up my imagination :-) My router settings are back to normal: 2.4GHz Frequency , Auto Channel (current 11+7), and up to 300Mps.

Problems installing on Galaxy Mega. This app never finishes installing. Really disappointed. Rebooted 3 times, and left it installing, 5 mins later nothing. Left it for 30 mins, finally this app installed. Connecting the Spark to my wifi network, also did NOT work using this app. I wasted 2 hours. In the end I had to connect via usb Serial and send the w command to setup wifi credentials. At least the documentation shows a work around when this app does not work. This App NEEDS improvements.
