About AOPA GO

Available exclusively to AOPA members, AOPA GO delivers essential flight planning tools—AOPA Airports Directory, AOPA Weather and a select set of AOPA Flight Planning features in the palm of your hand.

AOPA GO is a convenient pre-flight planning tool, allowing pilots to search the industry’s most comprehensive airport directory; create, edit and file flight plans; and check a diverse gallery of aviation weather charts. Best of all, AOPA GO syncs all pilot information, aircraft profiles, flight plans, and user waypoints with the AOPA Flight Planner. Large text and different color themes makes the information easy to read in all lighting conditions. Whether you plan your flight at your desk or on the ramp, you’re covered with AOPA.

AOPA Airports Directory
AOPA GO uses your device’s physical location to identify the nearest airports, heliports, and seaplane bases. You can see all the most critical information about each at first glance or drill down to more detailed information with a single tap of the screen. The app also allows you to search for an airport by name, ident, or location and save your favorites for quick access. All the information you need about an airport is readily available—from communications and operations to fuel providers and other services available on the field and nearby.

AOPA Weather Charts
AOPA GO Weather is designed to provide “best of breed” aviation weather information by compiling the best sources available into one resource. With information and images from Jeppesen, Aviation Digital Data Service (ADDS), and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), pilots get a complete picture of the weather that could affect their flight. Quickly review the METARs and TAFs closest to your location right on the main Weather screen, or choose from a gallery of national or regional weather chart images. You can also see current and forecast weather conditions along your route of flight using the Route Weather feature. Adverse weather conditions are color-coded based on severity to be more noticeable on METAR and TAF reports.

AOPA Flight Planning, powered by Jeppesen
No matter if you are creating a new flight plan from scratch, or pulling up a saved route to file for flight, AOPA GO has you covered. Built on the same powerful Jeppesen flight planning engine as the AOPA Flight Planner, the app allows you create, edit, and file flight plans and get a weather briefing using CSRA DUATS or Leidos Flight Service. Users of the AOPA Flight Planner can also include any of their saved user-defined waypoints in a flight plan.

Presents a Lot of information, Unfortunately, this app is a memory hog and shoves out any and all other apps that may be needed on the phone. This App may end up needing to be Uninstalled because it is so huge and unwieldy for mobile communication devices. PLEASE RE-WRITE THIS TO REDUCE CODE BLOAT!!!

M70%

Im a new pilot so i am still learning. However I've had the same issues as others with lag time and props spinning. I uninstalled the older version a nd uploaded v1.3. It spun right up and is doing its hob. Suggest people try that.

M70%
by M####:

Takes too long to load and find location. Navigation is cumbersome.I'm a jet guy who finds the spinning prop graphic a bit off-putting.

M70%
by M####:

Takes forever to try to load, then informs me that it timed out because it could not determine current location. Most of the time I am inside when I want to use this ap... It is close to useless.

X70%

You say that there are themes in the app but there is no option for that

K70%

The old fly Q was so reliable and easy. This new app deletes all the weather whenever a connection is lost. Total nightmare. Layout is also hard to use. Not sure what they were thinking...

E70%
by E####:

C'mon AOPA. Can't you do better than this? The one from Seattle Avionics was so much more functional. I'm tired of seeing propellers spinning. Your members deserve better.

K70%
by K####:

Takes forever to startup and get to the home page. App cannot find an airport near me nor will it let me search. Database says the are current, valid through Sept. 15, 2016. The problem is that today is Sept. 29th. I have a good 4g signal and can verify DUAT credentials.

T70%
by T####:

The newest version will not even open on my nexus 6P. Just a perpetual spinning propeller. This app is a huge let down.

K70%
by K####:

This app does not work. Takes forever to load, hangs constantly, menus go nowhere. How could this have been released at this level?

K70%
by K####:

Only major thing missing seems to be the route map on a sectional or enroute chart to separate it from a full blown EFB

K70%
by K####:

This app is useful but is very slow when getting into the app and accessing the airport page.

Q70%
by Q####:

Having approach plates has made this simple app increasingly useful.

K70%
by K####:

Too slow and sluggish

K70%
by K####:

The solution to this problem was to uninstall the app then reinstall. All ok after. This was on an Android device. I had no problems on my Ipad.

K70%
by K####:

I like the app overall, the layout and graphics, the general info. The problem is I use it most to check the weather, METARs and TAFs, but the connectivity is sometimes an issue, and more often than not when I go to the weather page the METARs display, but not the TAFs, despite then bring turned on in the app settings. Very frustrating. Hasn't changed with update, and now the font for the airport search results is obnoxiously large. If the font size was an issue for some people, add an option to change it.

T70%
by T####:

App continuously says "Unable to connect to AOPA" when I try to login. I can login to the AOPA website from the same device without issues.
