Betta fish are freshwater fish whose natural habitat is some countries in Southeast Asia, including Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, and Vietnam. This fish has a unique shape and character and tend to be aggressive in defending its territory. Among fans, betta fish is generally divided into three groups, namely hicklinks, hockey complaints, and wild betta. In Indonesia there are original betta, one of which is Betta channoides found in Pampang, East Kalimantan.

Betta fish is one of the strongest fish to survive in a long time so that if the fish is placed in a container with a little water volume and without the air circulation device (aerator), this fish can still survive.

Most hobbyists know the type of betta fish with a variety of nicknames, such as half moon, crown tail, plaque, double tail, and various crosses. The names are determined from the shape, for example halfmoon has a semicircle fin, serit has a jagged fin like a comb.
