High-intensity interval training (HIIT), also called High-Intensity Intermittent Exercise (HIIE) or sprint interval training, is an enhanced form of interval training, an exercise strategy alternating periods of short intense anaerobic exercise with less-intense recovery periods. HIIT is a form of cardiovascular exercise. Usual HIIT sessions may vary from 9–20 minutes. These short, intense workouts provide improved athletic capacity and condition, improved glucose metabolism, and improved fat burning.

HIIT session consists of a warm up period of exercise, followed by six to ten repetitions of high intensity exercise, separated by medium intensity exercise, and ending with a period of cool down exercise. The high intensity exercise should be done at near maximum intensity. The medium exercise should be about 50% intensity. The number of repetitions and length of each depends on the exercise. The goal is to do at least six cycles, and to have the entire HIIT session last at least fifteen minutes and not more than twenty.

There is no specific formula to HIIT. Depending on your level cardiovascular development, the moderate-level intensity can be as slow as walking.
The original protocol set a 2:1 ratio of work to recovery periods, for example, 30–40 seconds of hard sprinting alternated with 15–20 seconds of jogging or walking.

HIIT is considered to be an excellent way to maximize a workout that is limited on time.

Because of exercise intensity this type of workout is not intended for everyone. You should consult:

I love this app it lets me customise my HIIT workouts I also use this for my Weight Training. I wish there was 100 rounds max that would be great for longer sessions. Also there's a bug in notifications when the app is being minimised the timer slows & lags aggressively :( so I can't use this app whilst multi-tasking, this a big let down for me I would give it 5 stars if you fixed this thanks for listening.

Crashes whenever I do "OK Google"

The app gives the illusion that it will speak the round names as your workout progresses. If you named round 2 "burpee", you'd expect the TTS to say "burpee" rather than having to look at the screen. All the app says is "round 2". What's the point of naming the rounds and TTS if I still have to read during my workout? Wasted my money.

Customisation is great, but as it uses text to speech (tts) why can't it say the exercises (or even better - next exercise) I'm doing so i don't need to look at my phone.

When making a running program I can't always look at the screen to see what the round is while actually doing the work out. It would be wonderful to assign specific tts to each round, that way I can know when to sprint, run, jog, walk, etc. by voice command. other than that it is a wonderful app and has helped me progress my running.

This is a well designed, good looking interval timer, I especially like the use of TTS. I would love the option to title each round as I do a different activity for each one.

I love it but there is only one catch: I prefer the beep mode but it would be awesome if the beep is not constantly beeping. It's fine when you start and 5 seceonds before a round ends a beeping reminder would be enough for me. Since I use it daily my body started to transform. The paid version is more efficient for me. Beside the one critic I love it. It would be great if you guys would offer that as a 3rd version beside tts and constant beeping. ..
