The male voice is (was) much more phonetically pleasing. I did not have to repeat over and over as I do in this upgrade due the high pitch, and the blending, slurring or legato phrasing that the female has. I am using Pro version. It is a good app, a bit limited but great for basics.

This app is great in many ways. I set so many phrases to my favourites and then play it while I am doing things, while driving. The sounds have become familiar and repeating easier. It also let's me copy the phrases for texting and emailing!

Ideal for the virtual novice..If your pronunciation isn't great, it will say the phrase for you and has both the pinyin and hanzi translation :)
