Every revolution starts with an individual.

Simply put, water is the root of all life. And while many of us take this life-sustaining substance for granted, people all over the world are struggling with hazardous drinking water sources that are unsuited for human consumption.

The plague of unclean drinking water is a silent and somewhat invisible problem. Many toxic particles are present in both recreational water and drinking water but often go unnoticed by professionals because of the water’s clear appearance.

We work within accepted industry standards to bring unsanitized, potentially hazardous water to a perfect, pristine state by using the fewest number of products instead of as many as possible.

Although Orenda specializes in the treatment of recreational water, or water used in swimming pools and similar environments, We discovered that the same products used to clean recreational water could also be used to bring water up to drinking standards. Not only can we do good by maintaining safe conditions in recreational water, but we have the technology, resources, and moral obligation to remove harmful particles that compromise the safety of drinking water.

After traveling to India in 2013, Orenda Technologies President Harold Evans discovered that the necessity for safe drinking water extended far beyond the United States. Here he came face-to-face with hazardous drinking water conditions easily considered one of the worst in the world.

The Ganges River in India is considered sacred and is worshipped as goddess Ganga Ma, meaning “mother” by Hindus. It’s the main water source for millions of people living in India and is used for cooking, bathing, cleaning, and drinking. However, it’s also one of the most polluted water sources in the world, where the volume of sewage dumped in the river exceeds 1.2 billion liters a day. 15% of the waste is industrial, much of it consisting of chemical fertilizer, pesticide materials, and untreated waste from slaughterhouses, hospitals, and textile mills.
Water-borne illness is common, and infections and diseases spread rapidly. Even the fishing industry has suffered, diminishing significantly due to poor conditions for wildlife.

Harold felt an immediate obligation to bring clean drinking water to these people when he reasoned that his children and grandchildren, who are seemingly entitled to clean water throughout their entire lives, aren’t any different from the children and grandchildren of India, or anywhere else, who struggle to sustain themselves with filthy drinking water.

We’ve made it our personal aspiration to bring awareness to this shocking issue and inspire action that can truly make a difference.
