This app is okay, and has its uses for maintaining your paint inventory and wishlist. I expect this to be of more use to a beginning painter than to someone like me who has been in the hobby for almost a decade. I would've liked to see something more from this app. To me, it gives basic info and not much more. I expected some way of digitally mixing paints to see how it would come out. But I guess maybe I was setting my hopes a little too high.

Y70%
by Y####:

Would be great to have a way to sort or filter Paint By Model by game or category. Some example pictures of the colors are mixed up (Drybrush Celestial Vindicator Armor being Lilac(?) instead for example). For a fresh release though I am very excited about this and can't wait to see it expand

Y70%
by Y####:

Great app now I can see which paints I am missing with out having to search the GW webstore. As others have pointed out there are a few paints missing, but I am sure they were just missed off by accident. Listing the citadel air and forge world line of paints would also be handy.

by U####:

Cool app, good features so far. Dropped that last star due to frequent (but not critical) crashes and being short a few of the paints from the current Citadel Range. Suggestions for future development; Videos - Duncan and Emma in your pocket! Painters - Like the old flash painters from the website, so we can design our own schemes and get our listed colours. More Schemes - Colour schemes for all of the factions listed in the codecies/battletomes. Saveable Custom Schemes - A way of adding colours to your "scheme" in much the same way as one adds warscrolls to one's battle in the AoS app. General fixes - Better loading time optimisation for images.

I70%
by I####:

So it's OK. I like the navigation and utilities but it doesn't look as though GW have researched other apps out there. I was expecting to see features you find on Paintrack and Colour Wheel but hopefully these will come in time. Also, no videos? Why aren't there all those boss videos we see each day?

Really good app, going to be loads of help for me since I'm a beginner and don't know what I'm doing! One request though...can you add other things as well as just single models, for example the seekers for the daemonetts? Please and thank you!

This app is nice and has a really clean feel to the UI. I love that it can find colors in the real world and match them up to the paints. It would be really cool if there was a way to submit pics of painted minis through it and explore submitted photos. Could even add what paints were used by the painter and things like that.

I really want to get into this game with others but I moved to Chilliwack, BC and don't know anyone out here. If you're looking for someone to join up with let me know. You can mail me at deezaster76 just be sure to add Hotmail. Com after that.

Really nice free app. Camera function seems to work fine, had me worried most ! Two things I would LOVE to see added are a paint counting system to see how many there are and how many you have. The second I would love to see is a way to put your own color schemes in there with a picture of the mini it's about. Maybe even make a public library of that !

Y70%
by Y####:

It is extremely useful in terms of seeing what paint results in what way. Trying to guess what color is the best for me was always difficult and with this. Well this totally takes away guess work. I'm to see how they have layered paints. Allowing me to guess much more accurately what I need to buy next. Being not the richest, this will save me from buying a paint that is secondary to my needs first and help me get what Im looking for quickly

T70%
by T####:

Great app for beginner and intermediate painters. Good foundational guides and new ideas for experienced folks. Bad habbit of shutting down. Some of the suggested techniques for models are a bit off from the scheme, but an experienced painter could adjust easily and a beginner would still acheive a solid effect.

Honestly, I think this is a really good app. Mostly because I'm fairly indecisive about how I want paint things. But because this gives loads of information on colours and variations, I finally have planned out how I want to paint my necron dudes. If you aren't into making custom colour schemes, it also give pretty good tutorials for some models. I assume more are coming out later but it's pretty good so far.

Pretty helpful for a free app! Some considerations: of the primer sprays, only Corax White is available. It's not possible to distinguish between airbrush inventory and regular inventory (I have both, though admittedly that was an accident). It's also not possible to add a count of inventory for colors, nor to add the old color name where you still have stock (I have a tin blitz for example. Lastly maybe add liquid green stuff as an option too? I'm looking forward to more Paint by Miniature examples in the future!

Y70%
by Y####:

All you need for painting :-) I would add one thing that would be helpful. I wish I could choose two or three colour sets and see how they work together. They could be displayed e.g. on a marine model. Do not know how to do it, looks like a lot of work to me. Would be helpful though.

An additional feature that would be useful in the paint by color section is the ability to create user schemes. I.e. under gold a plus sign below colors/faction colors where you could enter a title like corroded copper, then enter base, shade, layer, technical, edge, glaze.

Y70%
by Y####:

I think it's a great start to what can be a wonderful tool! My only issue with it is it doesn't have everything, mini wise. Ik it's a bit of a task to do everything but will all miniatures eventually be added and not just the more common ones?

C70%
by C####:

I was disappointed that there wasn't a full list of models but I'm sure that will come in time. Also wish there was a way to preview color schemes, like being able to click parts of a model and swap the colors out. Other than that it's great though.

Looking forward to more content in the future but the inventory feature is really helpful. Edit: after playing with the app some more, it appears the videos don't go full screen landscape mode. Using Samsung Galaxy S6.

Wow, the design is super slick, please make the AoS app as sexy as this haha. The only thing I look forward to is the addition of many more miniature examples... Perhaps even fan submissions such as the work you showcase in WD. Great work.

Hot damn I will be using this alot. I mean the useful inventory system is fantastic. The wish list is insanely helpful for your shopping needs such as my undying need for Russ grey to feed my wolf based plastic crack addiction. As well as helping me and my friend know what paints are recommended for certain chapters. This has massively helped my friend who plays the imperial fists and me in my seraphon paint scheme. All in all if you paint 40k you need this app, and remember thin your paints. My one issue which isn't really a issue is that the Warhammer TV's painting tips catalog should be put in here I know you can go listen to duncan tell you to thin your paints on YouTube but I'm lazy.

Great app, very impressive so far! A quantity drop-down instead of just a check-off for inventory would be more useful; some of us already have multipules of some colors. And can we sync our inventory data between devices? Some of us use multiple devices, and everyone periodically upgrades to a new device, it would be nice to not need to re-inventory our paints every time we do.

Y70%

Update really helped!!! The painted model guide is a bit better! All we need is videos now!!! Two thin coats!

This is a fantastic app for being free. The paint inventory and wishlist is great. No more going to the store to buy paints I already own or don't need! The paint identification by camera is a cool feature but it needs to be ironed out a little more. It would be nice to turn on the camera flash manually in case there isn't enough lighting. It would also be great to have some sort of icon that shows you where you touched/what color the app is trying to identify. It would increase the overall accuracy of the app. All in all its a fantastic app and I can't wait for more content!

Y70%
by Y####:

I want to really like this app. It has quite a lot of cool and useful painting tools. However, I prefer painting by model and almost every time I click on one, the paint scheme fully loads as normal BUT without a model pic. I can guess where some paints go.. but it really distracts from the process. I'd rate this app higher, and will if this gets fixed, but on my Samsung Galaxy Note E android... its just currently "ok".

Y70%
by Y####:

Could do with a few extra features. Number of pots rather than just saying whether you have a particular colour or not. Also would be good if you could filter the inventory (i.e. Dry, Base, Layer, Shade, Glaze, Red, Metallic etc). I look forward to seeing new content as well such as guides on how to achieve specific colours and effects outwith the paint schemes for specific models.

Y70%
by Y####:

At first use, it's really handy and an absolute necessity if you're starting out or never painted a certain colour before. However, there is a gripe (mainly a personal one). It would be really nice to see a "Paint by Effect" in addition to colour and miniature. The entire hobby is filled with awesome effects, warp fire, regular fire, lavas, power weapons, lightning, smokes, muzzle flares, rocket exhausts and countless more. It would be very nice to see guides on how to do as many of those as you can as well. Other than that, nice work!

I70%
by I####:

Praise Duncan! The paint app is glorious! I can't give it five stars yet cuz I know it'll get better over time, but this is a great start for someone like me who struggles to pick complimentary colours or likes good reference pics to work from! Good Job GeeDubs! Now if you'll excuse me, I have two thin coats to apply...

Y70%
by Y####:

Very nice but please fix a few things: use more model examples than marine packs. Internal organs should be demonstrated with organs, etc. Also get more models on there for paint by model. Need more than 1 guard regiment for example. Finally let us add how many pots of a color we have

T70%
by T####:

Great app, with lots of nice features like paint by model or colour. The inventory and wishlist features are a fantastic idea. It would be nice to have a quick link to the archive of tip of the day videos or an option to submit ideas. Biggest gripe would be finding it on the play store doesn't work and you have to go via the games workshop store. Can't wait to see what gets added in the future.

Love the app, great content! Is gonna help so much! Only thing, a few colours seem to be missing? Two I noticed were Ahriman blue and Thousands son blue, even when searching they don't show. Just wanted to give you a heads up!

C70%

Love that this app is going to keep me organized and kind of get to 'swatch' colours here before I buy. Since it's a new app and bound to happen, I figured I'd point out that I've had it crash a few times when browsing through the paint by colour section. Overall so happy to see this launch.

X70%

The app is so far Amazon for someone like me who wants to get into the hobby of collecting and painting figures. From a young persons prospective, I would love to see multiple color schemes for one figure. Having schemes such as camo, desert, snow, ect. For imperial guard and other models that could use different schemes such as being shown with the space marines already. Also would like to see the videos you guys have and add them as something new painters can follow. With that I would like to see vehicles and special characters to be added in the future. Keep up the good work on the new app! :)

Useful resource and handy to keep track of owned paints. I wish they had a colour scheme builder, with blank model templates you could fill up. Or a dawn of war type tool to create army paint schemes. So...useful, free, but room for improvement.

X70%
by X####:

Such a helpful app. I expected a group of 'set in stone' tutorials for official Games Workshop factions. What I got is: 1) Full citadel paint list 2) Helpful visual guides for known paint schemes 3) A paint match that allows me to create and scheme on the go. Very useful app for novice and experienced painters alike

N70%
by N####:

This is ok and has room for improvment. As others have pointed out missing a few paints/products, a pot counter in the inventory would be most helpfull and the ability to sort by type would be cool. Missing a few factions in the paint by model section and eldar continue to get no love.

Y70%
by Y####:

Good app. What would make it far better is if you could create your own paint schemes for your army so you don't forget what colours you used. For example, say I was painting a Word Bearer, I could create a folder for painting Word Bearers for myself, broken down into subsections such as the armour, the trim, the skin etc.

Y70%
by Y####:

Color match is not really useful. (Perhaps this is an issue with the phone camera, it seems incapable of telling shades apart.) No way to do a virtual paint test on a miniature as I understood it would be able to do. It does provide nice instructions for painting their style and colours. Not bad for a free app as has been said.

S70%
by S####:

Very good first version of the app! I like that you can paint by miniature, and it's a lifesaver to see a basing recipe book. The fact that it's got two Martian bases when I've been searching all over the internet for ironcrust recipes for weeks is already a big plus for me. Only criticism: some backpack "swatches" have been reused for different paint combos. E.g. Tau and white scar armour have different recipes, but the same backpack photo. To me it's important to see each paint combo properly, no matter how small the differences, before going all-in on an army paint scheme. But yeah, great v1.0 guys well done ☺️
